THE SCHOOLHOUSE. Sleeps 10, plus more beds can be added.

This very large five bedroom home has some very cool and quirky touches to it. We call it The Schoolhouse because it was part of a boys school here in Philo. It’s been fully renovated and has so much entertaining space available and a killer kitchen. And a 50" tv!

It’s part of The Knotty Oak complex, which has two other homes and a total of 12 bedrooms. They are also available on Airbnb and separately for weddings, events & retreats.

The space
The Knotty Oak Schoolhouse (sleeps 11) is one of our three houses in downtown Philo, walkable to Scharffenberger, Baxter, Witching Stick, Weatherborne wineries, Jumbo's Win Win burger spot, and Lemon's Market. There are 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms with heated floors.

We've also got a two other homes on the property (The Knotty Oak - Homestead and The Knotty Oak - Sugar Pine Cabin) on airbnb if you need more space for a total of 12 bedrooms! We do weddings & retreats so check us out! We have glamping meadows and an amphitheater and tons of event space.

We also have our own private access to Indian Creek which is a gorgeous shady spot, perfect for adults and kids to explore, look for crawdads and fishes, and be in nature.

The Schoolhouse sleeps 10, and has one king bed, three queens and a double bed. One of the bedrooms looks like a bank vault with panels we scored from a theater set. It is so cool and kids (and big people!) really love that room. We’ve done lots of fun little touches throughout the house. There are three full bathrooms - two with bathtubs. There is a huge kitchen, with a big open floor plan, which is great for hanging out with your friends.

We can also add a twin bed or two for additional guests. The cost for that is $80 extra per night, per bed. That covers the setup and linens and cleaning.

The bedrooms are outfitted with Eddie Bauer camp theme sheets (adorable!) , firm and soft pillows, comforters, extra blankets, and soft lighting.

The kitchen is a cook's dream with:
Frigidaire brand new range-tons of BTU's
Cuisinart cookware
GE Fridge
Countertop wine fridge
Cuisinart Toaster
Waffle iron (with waffle mix and real maple syrup!)
Bosch Microwave
Bosch Professional Line dishwasher
Cuisinart coffee machine
Starbucks coffee packets
Bodum electric kettle with an assortment of teas.

Sometimes there are deer walking thru the yard! There's also an enamel drink cooler outside to keep wine and drinks cold while you're enjoying the outdoors. There is a regular BBQ available.

The Schoolhouse has a double sided couch (so fun!), mid century furniture and antiques, vintage math charts on the wall, a giant antique school chalkboard ready for you or your kids to draw on, and lots of quirky touches and cool artwork. The wifi is really robust. There is a 50" TV mounted in the living room.

The bathrooms have Malin + Goetz bath and shower products and makeup remover towels. All of the bathrooms have a large shower and heated floors, plus two of the bathrooms also have a bathtub.

There is a 110 EV car charger available if you have an electric car. Please let us know if you will need it.

We did a full restoration of the house and people have been loving it. We hope you do too!

We provide a welcome bottle of wine, and refreshments in the fridge as well as some snacks.

Please note it is no smoking, and most dogs are ok with prior approval for a fee of $125 each pet. We love our canine friends!

There is normally a two-night minimum but sometimes we can be flexible on that so send a message if you only need one night.

We usually can accommodate an early check in and a late checkout if you need it - we always try to make that happen if we can. Just ask!

We love to host private groups and weddings & events so please reach out for quotes on those events. (Events, offsites, and parties are not allowed on the property without a separate contract and insurance.)

Check out The Knotty Oak online as well! We have a great site with lots of event information.

Thank you for looking!

Thank you!

Guest access
The location is so sweet! The Schoolhouse is off of Highway 128 in downtown Philo, close to Scharffenberger, Baxter, Witching Stick, Weatherborne and Boonville Road tasting rooms, Lemon's Market as well as Jumbo's Restaurant. You could literally spend a whole day and not get in the car. There is ample parking inside the property and trails and views and amazing sunsets.

Other things to note
Dogs are allowed with prior approval, depending on breed and size for an extra fee of $125 per dog per day. We love our canine friends!

Hello from beautiful Philo! Nearly all the materials used to restore the three homes at TKO are from reuse and salvage, but there are many modern comfort touches for a cozy stay. We hope you enjoy this quirky and unique mix of old and new. Thx!
