Lovely flat in typical Greek neighbourhood, very quiet, very safe, near the center, within walking distance of all necessary shops (supermarkets, bakery, etc.), bars and eating places. For more details, read... the full description!

The space

L'anglais n'est pas votre tasse de thé? Pas de problème. Envoyez-moi un petit mot et je vous dis tout en français...

This cosy, small (55 sq.m.) apartment is situated in a very calm, very safe central neighbourhood, just 7-min. walk (10 min. with luggage!) from the metro station Evangelismos which is on the direct line from/to the airport. The airport express bus X95 also stops at Evangelismos, on the street level just above the metro station. Unlike the metro which stops working around midnight and starts again at 6 am, the bus runs 24/7 every 15/20 min. so even if your plane departure is very early in the morning it is possible to get to the airport in 40 min. after having enjoyed a restful evening in the apartment.

The neighbourhood is typically Greek-friendly with all the necessary shops, supermarkets, coffee shops, taverns. There are several museums within walking distance and easy access with the metro to any place in the city. It is very safe and walking late at night is not a problem. In summer there are 2 Pullmans going each day to the beach, leaving from just around the corner.

Looking at the pictures you will see the living room with a comfortable sofa-bed to accommodate two people when open, the entrance hall-den with a table to eat or work, the bedroom with two beds and lots of cupboards. A new feature... the two beds can be turned into one comfortable, double bed. Please let us know if you would prefer this accommodation. Then there is the bathroom with bath tub and washing machine, the fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave oven and all about coffee and tea. A small balcony is overlooking a calm inside courtyard. There is air conditioning and central heating, a TV set with Greek, French, English programmes and a CD player with a small choice of CDs. Wi-Fi of course and last but not least a small library with books in English, French and Greek.

You will also find in:
Bathroom: a hair dryer, a small 1st aid kit, shower gel, shampoo, soap, toilet paper, cotton pads.
Kitchen: tea, coffee, sugar, bottled water (although tap water is perfectly drinkable), fruit juice, butter, marmalade, canned milk (in small portions), some fruits, biscuits, crackers, oil, vinegar, instant coffee and whatever special thing you might request, a steam iron and iron board, a fire extinguisher and in the bedroom, during the summer, there is a fan for those who don't like the aircon so much and a beach bag with beach towels!

The apartment is thoroughly cleaned by professionals between each visit.

Although we don't live nearby we will give you all the necessary information and help to make your stay successful.

So, if you are spending a few days in Athens on your way to/from the islands or other historical places, beaches, monuments, this small, simple apartment, without fuss, is ideal to take a rest after a day of visiting. Or maybe you are in Athens for business and you feel like a change? True, there is no room service and no mini bar, but it has a “like home” atmosphere and you will be able to relax and prepare for tomorrow’s meetings in total calmness.

I nearly forgot :) should you like it so much that you feel like renting it for a longer period, to finish writing this book you are working on, to live the real Greek life for some more time or just to enjoy a change from your “other” life, we can discuss the rent. Just ask.

Guest access

The apartment is used only by guests. No one lives there. The terrace on top of the building can be used to hang laundry and to take pictures of the city!

Interaction with guests

I can be reached by email or text messages between 8 AM and midnight.

Viviane is a great host. She provides tons of information and advice. She even has a booklet she created filled with helpful tips. She also provided some fruit and cookies to begin my stay which was very nice. The place is in a great location with lots of places to eat nearby, as well as the metro pretty close. The building the apartment is in is made of concrete so there can be lots of echo noise from the neighbors. So some background white noise (there's an app for that!) helped me sleep. Viviane was very responsive to all my questions and helped me plan other parts of my trip. Thanks!

Viviane and Dimitri were most excellent hosts. Wonderful people. They have prepared excellent material for first-time visitors to Athens, and went beyond the call to make sure my stay most enjoyable. Πολὐ φιλοτισμένοι This is a PERFECT place for a single, couple, or small family, in an excellent neighborhood with excellent access to Metro and some excellent tavernas. Quiet neighborhood. American/British scholars will appreciate its proximity to the ASCSA/BSA and easy access by bus to the Kapodistrian University, yet in a neighborhood that is 'real.' When I am next in town (and I visit Athens regularly), I hope I am able to stay here - it's on my list of most favorite places.

This was truly an incredible experience in every way. The apartment is cozy and comfortable and I felt at home right away. The wifi was excellent ( an issue of particular importance to me, since I had to work while I was there), the living room was spacious and received great sunlight at certain times in the day, and the bed was very comfy. But the best part of the entire stay was the opportunity to meet and spend time with Viviane and Dimitri, who may very well be the best hosts on Airbnb. They checked in on me daily, provided me with great resources on food and fun in Athens, and best of all, took me on an incredible tour of downtown Athens that culminated in a great lunch at one of the most interesting restaurants in the entire city. I miss their company already, and will be sure to come back to their Pangrati apartment as soon as I have the chance.

Viviane and Dmitri were wonderful hosts. Even with our arrival time fluctuating, they were patient with us and met us at the metro station to personally escort us to the flat. They thoroughly gave us an overview of the flat and made us feel immediately at home. (The flat was living ready: complete with fresh snacks, soap, shampoo, conditioner, clean towels, etc. We were there to run the marathon, and Viviane even had our special snack requests waiting at the flat for when we arrived!) The flat comes with a very thorough manual complete with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations as well as helpful tips about Athens' culture and customs. They even walked us to a restaurant once we had settled in to our flat! The flat is located in a wonderful neighborhood. All of the neighbors were quite friendly, even if there was a bit of a language barrier. There is a convenience store right around the corner which is great for late night snacks. Dmitri and Viviane always made themselves available, checking in and helping us to organize a day trip to Aegina (absolutely wonderful!) as well as assisting us when we had difficulties with the washer machine. (Viviane said she will be sure to get this fixed in the near future.) Be sure to bring a few outlet converters as one of mine did not fit despite it being a universal adapter. (Viviane said she will buy a few adapters for the house.) I highly recommend this flat! I will stay there again when I next return to Greece.
