L'anglais n'est pas votre tasse de thé? Pas de problème. Envoyez-moi un petit mot et je vous dis tout en français...
Small apartment, entrance hall with eating space, one bedroom with two beds, living room with sofa-bed to accommodate two people, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, balcony, air conditioning, central (website hidden) set with Greek, French, English programmes. Internet connection. Small library with books in English, French and Greek.
The apartment is situated in a very calm, central neighbourhood, 7 min. walk (10 min. with luggage) from metro station Evangelismos which is the direct line to the airport. The express bus X95 to the airport also stops at Evangelismos, just above the metro station. Unlike the metro which stops working around midnight and starts again at 6 am, the bus runs 24/7 every 15/20 min. so even if plane departure is very early in the morning it is possible to get to the airport in 40 min.
The neighbourhood is typically Greek-friendly with all necessary shops, supermarkets, coffee shops, tavernas. There are many museums around and easy access with the metro to any place in the city. It is very safe and walking late at night is not a problem. Although we accept animals, we would not recommend bringing your pet to Greece. If necessary we can always lend you a cat or two...
We don't live near the center but we will give you all the help necessary to make your stay successful. We will share with you all our most secret addresses and places around the city! I can help you plan your stay in Athens and Greece if you wish. If you book the apartment in advance we will have plenty of time to do this. As you probably know half of the fun is preparing the holidays...
I nearly forgot :) for stays of 7 days or more there is a discount! and for stays of several months the rent is very reasonable.
Viviane is a great host, friendly, cultured & with a good sense of humour. I just love her sense of organisation :)
We did not have the chance to meet her husband but they're both helpful & eager to suggest good places & activities.
The apartment itself is big, calm, well equipped (kitchen, rooms, bathroom) & super clean. We felt like home during our stay.
The apartment is well situated in a central, safe and calm location - behind Hilton - so it's very easy to walk down to Syntagma, Monastiraki, Plaka & the Acropolis or Kolonaki in the other side.
We had a great stay & I certainly recommend staying here.
Ciao et à bientot,
I spent 10 days at Viviane's flat and believe me she is one of the best host ever! The flat was exactly as shown in the picture, very cosy and clean and plenty of everything I needed. Viviane and her husband were also so kind to left me the dinner ready as I arrived pretty late and pretty tired...what a nice surprise!
As I was alone in Athens they also invited me out on Saturday, that was very kind. I really appreciated their hospitality and kindness.
I would definitely suggest this flat to everyone and if I have the occasion I will come back!
Safe location in a pleasant neighborhood. Close to Caravel and Hilton hotels. Easy access to all of Athen's places of interest.
Well equipped and comfortable apartment.
A wonderful place to call home in Athens!
My husband and I enjoyed a cruise around the Greek Cyclades, then spent another 4 days in Athens sight-seeing. We wanted an apartment with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and a place to wash clothes and to relax. We got all that at Viviane's place!
What we loved about the apartment and neighborhood:
- you're in the midst of Greek families. This is definitely not a tourist area.
- there are several supermarkets in the area (we cook a lot on vacation), and also a lot of little corner stores. The supermarkets are 1-2 blocks away, the corner stores begin at 1/2 block away.
- there are plenty of restaurants and bars, all within a 1-2 block area. If you crave "American" food, there is a "Simply Burger" one block away.
- we love public transportation. The metro is very close (5-8 minute walk, 15 min walk if you have a lot of luggage). The bus stops are 3-4 blocks away (we caught the express bus to the airport when we left Athens).
- we love walking everywhere, and walked from the apartment to Plaka, the Acropolis, the Athens Flea Market, Syntagma Square, etc. While it may look a bit further away on the map, the distance to the Acropolis area is short. We did take the metro to the Kerameikos area one day when we wanted to start at one part of the city and walk back to the apartment.
- there was not a picture of the bathroom, so we were concerned it was small. It's not, the bathroom is very large and roomy!
- the kitchen, although doesn't have an oven, had all the pots and pans we needed for cooking. The fridge is full-size and there were plenty of dishes, cups, utensils, etc. It was also well-stocked with salt, pepper, curry powder, sugar, coffee, filters for the coffee pot, plenty of tea options, etc.
- we like to veg out at night. Their TV works great and had an American TV station.
- AC works great, as well.
On top of that, Viviane and Dmitri are wonderful hosts. They had plenty of items to make sure we were comfortable, from washing liquid for clothes, soaps, shampoos, toilet paper, books and magazines, towels, linens, etc.
They also very thoughtfully provided some items, like fresh water, grapes, bread, butter, honey, tomatoes, and more.
The only downside - the phone company messed up the internet for the first 3 days we were there. Viviane and Dmitri had it fixed as soon as possible, and provided a discount to us since the internet wasn't working as it should have been (not their fault).
Overall, I highly recommend their apartment as your home base in Athens. You'll love it!
We rented this apartment for the location and ended up with friends! Viviane and Dimitri were the best hosts that we've ever encountered. They went above and beyond and made us feel like were staying at a friend's house.
The apartment is very clean and cool (both literally and figuratively); it's in a safe neighborhood that is only 10 minutes from central Athens (via the Metro; 20 or so minutes to walk), it's comfortable, stylish, the internet connection is great, and our hosts included a cell phone, a mixed CD of Greek classics and homemade snacks and other goodies from around Greece--and they made themselves available to meet and show us around their beautiful city. Overall it was just fantastic!
Staying here made our trip to Greece so special and I would recommend this flat to all of my friends and family.
Well, Viviane's flat is exactly as described: lovely! Clean, cosy and decorated with style with paintings and artwork, in a typical calm greek neighborhood -the first impression. Then i met Viviane and her husband, a wonderful and easygoing couple! They were very helpful, they gave all necessary info about the flat and were very flexible with the arrival/leaving time. Viviane has all the cupboards in the kitchen stuffed with little things -tea, coffee, sugar, etc. All linen provided are brand new and clean and the flat itself is spacious, with positive vibes and makes you feel like home!
The neighborhood is safe and next to everything: a swuare with restaurants and cafes, grocery store, super-markets, kiosks, cinema, metro-station (Evaggelismos), pharmacies, bus-stops. Pagkrati, the area where the flat is situated, is only 20 min. away from Syntagma sq. and all great sight-seeings.
My parents were really pleased and after they left, Viviane called me to check if they arrived home safe and whether they enjoyed their stay!
I want to thank Viviane for the great hospitality she offered!
