Welcome to the Thompson House, a tastefully decorated 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with hot tub situated on 354 acres of gorgeous woodland at the foot of the Chilhowee Mountains. If you’re seeking to unplug, unwind, and rejuvenate in a beautiful setting offering plenty of peace and tranquility, you’ve found the perfect place! This is one of only two houses within Montvale Springs, a gated property within easy access to the Foothills Parkway, Tail of the Dragon, and Smokies. Pet friendly!
The space
The Space:
The home has been thoughtfully decorated to exude a warm, inviting space with plenty of soft blankets, throw pillows, cozy bedding, and special touches throughout to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you might need to create a gourmet meal with plenty of kitchen tools and gadgets, wine glasses, and a supply of spices and rubs to use when grilling out in the backyard. There are books, board games, and puzzles to enjoy and a Smart TV to stream your favorite shows and movies.
In the backyard you will find a patio tables and chairs, a firepit (firewood is provided in the covered shed area) and 4-burner gas grill. Both the front and back yard is fenced providing safety for children and pets.
There is a two-car attached garage which you are welcome to use. In the garage you'll find the washer and dryer, camp chairs, and cornhole boards.
Bedrooms: The primary bedroom has a king-size bed and en suite. The 2nd bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the 3rd bedroom has a daybed with a queen-size mattress and pull-out full-size trundle bed on the bottom. There is also a premium queen-size air mattress available for use (located in the closet of the master bedroom), which can be set-up in the sunroom/parilor area for added privacy. Sheets and bedding for the air mattress are provided in the closet of the 3rd bedroom. There is space to sleep 10, provided each bed is shared by 2 people, however 6-8 people is ideal.
Up to 2 pets are allowed for a $50 fee. They must be housebroken, well-behaved and should not be allowed on the furniture. Prefer non-shedding pets to respect other guests who may have allergies.
Guest access
Thompson House guests have full access to the home and yard. There are horses and goats in the fields adjacent to the house. Guests are not allowed in the pasture areas or in the barn area down the road from the house. Additionally, the road in front of the home is private and guests should not access the property beyond the stone pillars by the 2nd residence further down the road without host permission.
Other things to note
The Thompson House is located at Montvale Springs, which is owned by Harmony Family Center, a non-profit organization providing adoption and therapeutic services to kids and families throughout Tennessee. Montvale Springs consists of 354 acres and there are two residences on the property (one being the Thompson House). The CEO of Harmony (me!) lives in the other house; there are no other full-time residents at Montvale Springs. Harmony has owned the property for over 13 years and holds family and day camps, events, and allows external groups to rent the property throughout the year. As a result, you may occasionally see vehicles passing the house as they travel further back on the property. This should provide little to no disruption to your stay, but is shared to provide awareness and in a spirit of transparency.
