About this listing
Our neighborhood is in the southwest suburb of Boston. Even though it is 10 miles away to Downtown Boston, going there by public transportation could be a lengthy trip. You need 20 min. by bus to T station and 25 min. by subway T to Downtown.
We are offering 1-2 bright and beautiful private bedrooms available in a 4-bed family home in West Roxbury.
The bedrooms are clean and comfortable, and have just been renovated with new hardwood floors. A full bathroom is right next door. All toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/body washer, etc) are provided. A half bathroom on the first floor is also available.
One bedroom has a double bed that sleeps 2.
With in 10 min. walk, we have Spring st. Cafe, Donkin Donuts and Tony's place which serves the best Pizza in our town. Within 5 min. drive, there are several other restaurants, such as Japanese, Tai, American...
Parking: on street parking (driveway parking by special arrangement only), but we have never had any problem with parking.
The house is located on a quiet street in West Roxbury, next to a community center (Elk) and a church. It is walking distance to a supermarket, restaurants/cafes and a huge public park that is part of Boston's "Emerald Necklace".
It is a 2 minute walk to public transportation (bus/subway/commuter rail) that will get you to downtown Boston (Back Bay, Longwood area, Harvard/MIT,etc) in about 30 minutes.
We will provide subway cards (which offer a discount over buying once-off subway tickets), but recommend you get a weekly subway pass from the station (they are the best deal for longer stays).
We are also close to the I-95/RT 128 highways if you are driving.
Directions from the airport/train station:
The best way to get from the airport to our house is as follows (it sounds more difficult than it is):
1. There is a free shuttle bus called the Silver Line which will take you to South Station (follow signs for ground transportation). **note this is also the arrival station for Greyhound Bus/Amtrak.
2. Once at South Station, follow signs for the Red Line in the Braintree direction and check to make sure they will take you to Downtown Crossing (it should just be a few stops)
3. Once at Downtown Crossing, switch over to the Orange Line, in the Forest Hills direction. Take the Orange Line all the way to the end (Forest Hills)
From here, the #36 bus will take you pretty much right outside the house (ask to be dropped off at the Moville St stop). But we (email hidden)e Moville St. is on the west side of the bus-line while Morrell St (our street) is on the east side of the bus-line.
Modern, spacious and open plan-- living room, dining room, huge eat-in kitchen, laundry room, sunroom and backyard are common areas. Wi-fi and central air-conditioning throughout.
Fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher), washer and dryer in the basement. Guests are welcome to use kitchen only for eating purpose or simple cooking, such as making sandwiches and soups. Kitchen use request needs to be part of communication before check in. Kitchen and living room area are closed around 10 pm except for those late comers.

After a first confusion due to an internal communication error, the host was more than welcome to show us our two wonderful, bright and clean rooms. He made us feel very welcome and appreciated and did everything he could to make it a good stay. Anything we could ask for, such as a laundry room, bathroom necessities, and even a designated breakfast area with things such as tea, coffee, cereal and bread was available for us. The rooms were very quiet and the location is close enough to Boston Downtown to be able to drive by car in 30 minutes. Highly recommended, as Wan is a very sympathetic and generous host.
We had a delightful stay. The home was lovely, cozy and spotlessly clean, the room exactly as described. We were tired from a long journey and tend to keep to ourselves, and after making sure we felt welcome and comfortable, the host gave us the privacy and peace we needed.
Everything was absolutely perfect. Junzuo is a very kind person. He speaks french with us. The house is very confortable and we really feel at home. The neighborhood is safety. Highly recommanded.
Great host! Very accommodating. Rooms and set up with bathroom was especially nice. Only drawback is the bus and train times to get downtown Boston. Overall great stay.
It was an amazingly lucky experience staying in Mr.Wan and Ms.Yang's house. My family not only found a feeling of home away from our home back in China, but also had so many enjoyable chatting useful advices from this couple who have been stayed in the U.S. for so many years. ( this tip is probably for Chinese guest :)) Besides, the house and rooms were clean, with sufficient living goods. Convenient position for both public transportation and driving. Five stars recommendation!
The room was as advertised. It was clean and well maintained. We didn't like the shared bathroom and will be careful of that in the future. Our host was very accommodating and helpful when we asked questions. Our last night wasn't all that great as additional guests arrived that evening and were quite loud until 12:45 AM.
Muching and her husband had good accommations and provided a variety of toiletry. The house was very clean and it felt like home. The husband did a great job of giving us a tour. Muching quickly responded to all emails leading up to the stay. It was also a great value compared to hotels during the time we visited.
However, I was not able to get a hold of our host with the phone number she provided to inform her we would be late. In addition, it is approximately a 30 minute ride to downtown Boston (~$24 uber ride). Otherwise, my friends and I had a lovely stay.
About the Host, Muching
I'm a frequent traveler and airbnb fan currently abroad, and this is my family home in Boston, MA. The host is my mom, a Chinese teacher, who has lived in the Boston area for 25+ years (we are originally from Beijing, China). We like to garden, cook and ballroom dance. We've always had visitors and boarders and are excited to welcome you to our home.
