"La maison des escargots" (The House of Snails) is one of the most spectacular and unique design apartments in Paris. Created by its owner, a prominent French artist, it features built-in furniture - a dining table that slides out over a large bath, a queen-sized bed that folds into the wall - as well as its much-photographed walls, which are decorated with approximately 250 sculptures of snail shells.
The apartment is located just 100 meters from the Place des Vosges in the Northern Marais, which is now the most sought after neighborhood in Paris for those in fashion and design. Some of the city's best restaurants, cafes, and bars are just steps away, as is the Metro.
364 ft2 with a sunny 120ft2 terrace, the apartment has a kitchenette with sink, stove, microwave, and refrigerator, and a bath. Wifi and high definition internet TV with HDMI connection are included. There is also a washer and an outdoor drying area.
I'll meet you in the neighborhood, get you settled in, and be available throughout your stay to answer any questions or help with any problems.

An excellent flat in a great part of town! The snail house is a truly unique and a wonderful base from which to explore Paris. You are near the Bastille and Le Marais, and have plenty of bars in the area if a vibrant nightlife is what you are after. I would definitely stay there again next time I am in town.
Amazing cool flat , Joshua was very helpful and even though it was a very last minute booking, everything went well, superb location, clean flat and I have all the necessary things in the flat and thanks Joshua for the lovely bottle of red ! Will definitely return again and will recommend friends!!
The flat is in a perfect location with many wonderful places to eat, drink, and shop. We loved the natural light and indoor outdoor feel from all of the windows. The terrace was a special treat. Our host was fantastic, very easy to contact and answered all questions promptly. Check in and check out were a breeze. We would stay there again or recommend it to friends and family.
Lieu magique, superbement situé et un accueil parfait.
Merci Josh, à une prochaine entre Paris et Marrakech ;)
A beautiful, unique studio overlooking the Marais. It's very much a concept apartment replete with the dozens of snails and moveable furniture. It's a great spot for a romantic getaway. Josh was responsive with questions and have good recommendations. The only drawbacks are that it is on a sixth floor walk up which might be straining for some people and the only toilet with privacy is outside the apartment by the hallway.
nice, though quite small apartment, very bright and cosy.
great design, and vibe,
ever-transofrming apartment: the beds folds up to save more space, the large table slides out, opening a bathtub - you feel like in a future. as though some of facilities are not that convenient to use (the kitchen sink is to be used as a washing sink, the standalone bathtub can make you spill the water, everything is so nice, that you can forgive that minor inconveniences. the design and the comfort of a wonderful and friendly penthouse apt with a terrce is wonderful, as well as the host, which was always welcoming and careful, providing with all necesary details on the neighbouring attractions and places.
Joshua was a great host and the apartment exceeded our expectations. Wonderful experience on all levels.
perfect spot to call home in paris, everything you need and nothing you don't. the location is incredible, the patio (what a luxury in paris) superb and private, the details taken care of (spa-quality robes, high thread-count sheets, a bottle of bordeaux). it had the quality of a hotel with the breezy familiarity of being a local (a real treat). josh was lovely, helpful with recos and super-responsive with any questions.
Josh's apartment is in a fabulous section of the marais. Highly recommend it for location. The apartment itself is modern and ingeniously decorated to maximise space. Nice terrace overlooking the marais. Josh's son did our check-in and check out-a very courteous and lovely man who was quite responsive to our questions. Joshua's also quick with emails. Pleasant people indeed.
We would stay here again at the listed price if the following changes were made:
1. The ad suggests there is1.5 bath in the apartment. The second toilet is actually unfinished (and just outside of the flat). Would recommend fixing this second facility. (Note: This is an apartment for singles or couples who are VERY comfortable with each other as the very small toilet in the apartment is somewhat exposed and so small that most people of average height will not be able to close the door. The bathtub is also in the open living area. )
2. Repair the shower head and water pressure for the shower.
3. Invest in new ironed sheets.
4. Professionally clean the apartment.
5. Invest in a couple of sturdy adult height terrace chairs so guests can actually enjoy that space.
We had a good couple of nights overall.
Thanks for the comments, Niloo, and sorry that as our first guest, things weren't perfect. We'd be happy to give you a discount on future nights the next time you're in Paris. For those looking, we have finished the second toilet, the shower has been repaired, and a professional cleaning service has been engaged (with professional ironed sheets). Guests can get a good sense of the apartment's layout from the photos, and of course we're also happy to respond to any additional questions people might have.
