About this listing
The coolest of spaces with a wonderful, sunny terrace just steps from the Place des Vosges and surrounded by some of the best fooding and shopping in the city.
"La maison des escargots" (The House of Snails) is one of the most spectacular and unique design apartments in Paris. Created by its owner, a prominent French artist, it features built-in furniture - a dining table that slides out over a large bath, a queen-sized bed that folds into the wall - as well as its much-photographed walls, which are decorated with approximately 250 sculptures of snail shells.
The apartment is located just 100 meters from the Place des Vosges in the Northern Marais, which is now the most sought after neighborhood in Paris for those in fashion and design. Some of the city's best restaurants, cafes, and bars are just steps away, as is the Metro.
364 ft2 with a sunny 120ft2 terrace, the apartment has a kitchenette with sink, stove, microwave, and refrigerator, and a bath. Wifi and high definition internet TV with HDMI connection are included. There is also a washer and an outdoor drying area.
I'll meet you in the neighborhood, get you settled in, and be available throughout your stay to answer any questions or help with any problems.
Amazing experience and Josh was an excellent host. I would highly recommend this apartment for couples or solo travelers. The location is superb and the design is very unique. The toilet is not an issue.
Joshua was very responsive from the very day I have booked his place. My check-in was hassle free even though he wasn't there in person. The location of the apartment just cant be better. A minute walk to Place des Vosges and very close to Le Marais and Bastille attractions. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience staying at Joshua'a place. Few more details;
Pros: Location, calm neighbourhood, small but very cozy terrace, lots of light enters the flat so very serene, artistic decoration, kind of small studio but very smartly decorated to make it functional, owner's responsiveness.
Cons: No shower, toilet is extremely slow, there is a nice bath hidden however if you are seeking intimacy it's not the right choice as it's open.
Our journey across paris to this wonderful appartment was smooth and easy thanks to the advice given by Josh before we left the UK. When we emerged from the metro we immediately liked the neighbourhood, especially when we turned down the quieter side streets leading to the appartment. Josh was waiting for us at the snail house at the top of a very charming spiralling staircase. He showed us around and left us with all the information we would need to enjoy our stay for the next couple of days, including a lovely bottle of organic red - perfect.
We had been so looking forward to staying here and had spent ages choosing it from the huge selection available. We were in for a treat as this pristine place was even better than we imagined. We loved it and even managed to make use of the balcony in the middle of December.
The marais is a fantastic place to spend a couple of days - it has a great buzz and is full of great cafés, bars and stylish boutiques. Although our favourite thing was to stroll through the place des Vosges - only a stones throw from the front door.
Perfect holiday. Highly recommend the appartment. Also recommend Sunday brunch at les bonnes soeurs just around the corner - worth queuing for!
Location,location,location is what this studio flat is all (website hidden) is just a in the photo.We had brilliant autumn weather and loved the use of the rooftop terrace.Joshua was a good host.The downside of the flat were the bathroom (website hidden) that can be improved I have no idea .
Joshua has been very nice and welcoming. He helped us since we had to change the check-in time. Pictures are true to reality and the flat is really stilish. The flat was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Location is definitely great! You are just few steps from Place des Vosges but being on the fifth floor you do not hear any noise from the street. I would definitely recommend a stay to this flat to a young couple or single ( 5 floors are not for everybody, especially with heavy luggages). The only cons is that the in-room bathroom does not allow any privacy.
This is a very cute little flat, with cute quirks. The balcony is wonderful on a sunny day. The space is neat, quiet and clean. The absolute best part about this flat - the location!! Literally a two-minute walk to the lovely park, Place des Vosges - five minutes to the best boutique shopping and restaurants in the hip Le Marais. Just fantastic. The host, Joshua, was very responsive and attentive - responded to our questions within minutes and it was very pleasant dealing with him. We recommend this flat for any visitors who want to feel like a bit of a local.
