My artist family home from 1885 is located on the beautiful island 'Fur' known for its fossils... the cottage has been modernised several times and is categorised as a Summer residence, ie it's not well insulated. The cottage is old and artistic in style with a magnificent view over fen and fjord and it is quiet, peaceful and homey here !

The space
My cottage is called 'The Mermaid' (Havfruen in Danish) and you will find almost everything you need on your basic holiday here. Large living room with fireplace and a gorgeous view. Dining room in old style with seating for 8 people.
Master bedroom on first floor, double bedroom on ground floor and another double bedroom in a separate guest annexe. Spacious toilet/shower room in the main building ground floor.
Kitchen is with all cooking utensils and pots/pans, plates, cutlery, glasses etc. and you even find a few herbs/spices and other things you may use (and fill up again if you use all). Glass ceramic cooker, oven, fridge/freezer, slow juicer and smoothie maker. Tea towels in the kitchen.
Please bring your own bed linen, towels, toiletries and toilet paper... or order separately when booking.
One bucket of wood fire included, extra can be bought. Electric heating also available (and it's expensive in Denmark!).
Electricity consumption will be added to your bill.

Where you’ll be

Fur, Central Denmark Region, Denmark

The cottage is one of the first build in the area back in 1885 and then it was lived in by a poor poacher and his family. My Granddad took it over in the 1950's and in the 1960-70's it was the most modern Summer residence on the island with running hot water!
My cottage probably has one of the best views on the island. From the living room you can sometimes spot deer, hawks, pheasants, hares and other wild life just outside. Fantastic walks covering beach, fen and forest straight from the house!
Hardly much traffic is passing by... on a busy day we might see 5 cars on the dirt road outside as we are on the edge of the Summerhouse area.

I am an artist. Born in Denmark and recently returned after living in Kuala Lumpur for many years. My passion is to spread joy with art, colour and creativity. I also love good food and good wine... and to travel. When travelling I like to meet the locals and often prefer to stay a the more inexpensive place. However, I do have some standards about comfort and cleanliness! Therefore, I also sometimes do like to go 5-star on my travels.
