The house was built over 100 years ago using local "ruffes" stones, red from the volcanic earth. There are many original features, including stone fireplace, beams on walls and ceilings and internal stone walls. The property was recently renovated, but it still retains its old charm.

We had a delightful stay at Le Puech. The accommodation is very spacious and had pretty much all we required - not luxury but homely. We particularly liked the large covered 1st floor terrace (loggia) which we used for all meals and for sampling local wines! The pool provided a great distraction for the kids though as someone else commented its just across the road from the house (no problem as no traffic). Wi-fi was excellent. Although Belinda was not to hand she was most helpful in communications and offered speedy solution to a request of ours. The allocated car parking was too tight for our Renault Scenic and would only suit a tiny (narrow) car; we parked ours 150metres away at the village entrance (again, no problem).
A car is essential but we recommend staying here as a base to explore the L'herault area. We loved the city of Montpellier (45mins); Pezenas (30mins); Sete - unpretentious sea port with dozens of sea food restaurants (50mins). Do not miss St. Guilhelm Le Desert - ancient and beautiful village with medieval UNESCO bridge, gorge, river and fresh water lake with beaches. Nearby Lodeve (10mins) worth a visit for its Saturday market and large supermarket for self-catering.
Village calme. Très bons moments sur place!
The neighbourhood was rural and tranquil with far-reaching stunning views over the wooded hills. Access to the property is through narrow and hilly streets so large vehicles like our van carrying 8 family members presented a challenge and parking could not be done in the allocated space. The house was comfortable and rooms were spacious. It had a rustic charm and was quite unusual in the shape of some the rooms. We would have liked some information of its history. The covered terrace provided a welcome and charming extra living and dining space. Instructions to reach the property were detailed and accurate. However, the information about the garden was out of date as there wasn't one. The pool was very useful to cool down in the heat of the day and a real sun trap though you have to cross the narrow street to get to it which is not a problem as there is virtually no through traffic in this part of the hamlet.
Just had a smashing week in La Puech. There was 8 of us (myself and my three children and their friends aged 17-20) and rented one car between us. So half the group arrived at Lodeve by public transport and I picked them up in the car and took them to the house.
Their journey was an adventure itself and cost less than 5 euros for shuttle from the airport tram across town and 40 Kms Comfortable coach journey
The place is very easy to find but a car is necessary. Nearby towns, the supermarket, and the lakes were very close so it was never a problem doing two runs in the car.
The lake is a must visit. Water was like a bath and all the amenities bars food at reasonable prices .. and life guards
The supermarket had everything including a cheeky little rose at £6 for 5 litres. Perfect for all the bbqs.
The house was perfect for what we wanted - to spend a week in the company of our friends and family. The pool received sunshine all day. Two fridges. The BBQ was great. All the rooms were big. There was a toilet on each of the three floors. The shower was brilliant with plenty of hot water (although some of us preferred a cool shower) and the bedrooms particularly spacious
There is a flat annexed but we never saw the occupants although he was clearly there as occasionally hear some short spells of classy violin playing as the sun set.
We ll be back.
