Interaction with Guests

I do live at this house, so I'm usually available if needed.
The guests may enter through the main floor if they choose or around the back way if they don't want to interact.
I'm friendly & so is my cat, so please feel free to visit with us or ask for guidance with your trip. My puppy is a bit shy, but with the right treats she warms up right away.

The Neighborhood

Comfortable, clean & neat NE Portland neighborhood. Park within walking distance. Near Beaumont-Wilshire shopping area which includes coffee shops and breweries, two things we take very seriously in Portland!! Also includes boutique shops, fresh bagels and yoga. About 2 miles from one of Portland's best farmers markets (Hollywood Farmer's Market, 8am to 1pm Saturdays). Just picked up berries, cherries, asparagus and tomatoes. Delicious!

Getting around

Close to bus lines on Fremont and Sandy. Can access MAX with one short bus ride. Close to bike routes and shops, brewery within walking distance.
On-street parking, no fees or limits.

Other Things to Note

Portland's unique trash system allows us to operate an entire household on less than 1 cubic gallon of trash per day. (another thing we take seriously here in Portland!). This household reduces, recycles and composts about 90% of all waste.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Space was great, very convenient and clean. Highly recommended, and kitchenette would have been convenient if we'd needed it much!

  • Renee is a great host, friendly, very considerate and helpful with suggestions as to what to do and how to get around. I had my bike with me and my friend took the bus so it was very accessible to the city for us. Everything we needed was there to provide us with a great breakfast! Very nice! And Renee picked some fresh raspberries for us too. The apartment is very cute and spacious and quiet except for some footsteps upstairs. I'm used to having people above me though so not a problem. Thanks Renee and I will hope to visit again.

  • Renee was a wonderful hostess -- incredibly thoughtful, accommodating, and flexible. We were grateful for last minute booking and even more so, for the fresh roses and raspberries! We would love to stay again in the future and highly recommend Renee's in-law for your next Portland visit!

  • This place was great! Renee was a wonderful host (fresh raspberries from the garden!), who provided great breakfast food and comprehensive information. The house is located in a nice, quiet neighborhood that is nevertheless easily accessible and close to fun, exciting things. Great if you are hoping to explore Portland and get a good nights' sleep.

  • Price was so affordable and very good communication. Renee was awesome. She made us feel really comfortable and helped with everything that we need. I would recommend this place for anyone.

  • My boyfriend and I were just there for a quick overnight stay, and were very happy with Renee's space and her as a host! The room was very private and clean. We were provided with coffee, cereal, milk, and yummy coconut-macadamia bread. The location was nice, very residential, and I recommend it for someone who knows Portland and can get around on their own easily. Thanks Renee!

  • Our stay in Renee's sweet apartment attached to her house was the perfect place to rest on our trip cross country. The space was clean and had a great little kitchen to do our cooking in. She gave us fresh homemade pineapple macadamia nut bread and strawberries the morning of our leave and overall created a private and homey atmosphere. The backyard was a great place to enjoy our meals and relax. An inexpensive and happy find!

  • Renee was very quick to respond to our request, and communicating with her via email was easy. She was at home to greet us, despite not knowing what time we would be arriving.

The room itself was dark, damp, and had a bit of a musty smell. The cool temperature was a relief when we arrived because of the hot day, but it was a tad chilly in the morning.

Our only real complaint is the 'wet dog' smell. If the dampness/smell is taken care of, the place would be much more comfortable.

The home is located in a beautiful neighbourhood and it is an inexpensive rate :)
