Welcome to explore Halifax and to stay at our Bed & Bread Fest with fresh bread made just for you :)
The place is right downtown, clean and well equipped. Private room with double bed for one or two people. Just 5min to waterfront and train station. Also walking distance from many other places, check more detailed description below.
We can accommodate a single person, two friends or a couple in this room. Please note that Airbnb does not allow phone numbers or email addresses to go through before the booking has been confirmed so take that into consideration when making a last minute inquiry. Also, please fill your profile before an inquiry. We most likely won't host if you have nothing written and no picture on it. It doesn't mean you need to have references.
The apartment is a 2-bedroom with a huge livingroom, big kitchen and a bathroom. You will be sharing the apartment with us or other guests. The double bed is very comfortable and we will provide clean bedding, sheets and towels. There is also a futon and a couch in the living room if you were to have an extra person or two. If you are a light sleeper, we want you to know that the traffic noise can be heard in the room, but it usually slows down quite a bit after 8pm.
Breakfast is self-serve as we both work full-time and are often quite busy. Guests are welcome to use our fridge to store food and have full access to do some cooking etc. Don't be afraid to move our things around to fit yours in. Kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, all plates, cups and utensils. You will have access to coffee/tea and homemade bread as well as other breakfast items we have. You also have access to baking needs, spices and other condiments you might need for everyday cooking such as oils, rice & pasta we might have. Not the canned goods, meat or veggies though.
Wireless internet, lots of books and games.
Interaction with Guests
Our interaction with the guests depends on how the schedules match, as sometimes we are in and out quite a bit, sometimes we like to stay home.
Whenever we are home, we are open to answering questions as well as for other conversations, watching movies etc. Sometimes we might be doing something we can invite our guests to.
Look up events going on in the area during your stay:

Darcey & Riina are hospitable hosts. They're both friendly and nice. The room is clean and the bed is comfy. Really great location for to discover Halifax downtown. Highly recommend ! Thank you very much !
Darcey & Riina are great hosts. They were very flexible and accommodating with me as my flight got delayed. They are very supportive and respectful. Depending on circumstances they will interact as much or as little as is comfortable. My interactions with them were all enjoyable. They were kind enough to offer me a ride on the morning of a very important interview.
However, their mandate does not include cooking nor cleaning for their guests. They both have full time jobs and deserve to be treated with the utmost respect.
If you're looking for the best place in town to appreciate Halifax and you enjoy the smell of freshly baked goods, you won't go wrong with Darcey and Riina!
Because of a storm and unexpected travel plan changes we never got to stay at Darcey and Riina's place but from the Time we booked they made sure to send us all the info and they were easy to get in touch with.
I felt very welcomed, it was the perfect balance of not feeling like I was intruding into their space and being afforded privacy.
They baked me fresh bread, it was close to the university, groceries, coffee and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable.
I would highly recommend their place to visiting medical elective students, and students on interviews.
The only negative would be the street noise, but it didn't bother me as I wear ear plugs to sleep so plan accordingly.
I lived in Halifax and knew the neighbourhood so no surprises there. Darcey and Riina were fantastic hosts and we both wished we could have spoke to them more but it was a short trip. The place was cozy, clean and well kept. We both slept well and enjoyed out stay, even got to try a Finnish drink that was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend staying with them and we would again next time we're in Halifax.
My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying at Darcy and Riina's place. They were very accomodating and made our visit to Halifax that much better. They were very flexible with our arrival and departing times. The two of them were very helpful in providing good suggestions for us on our first visit to Halifax. We highly recommend them and wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again.
Riina and Darcey are very nice and hospitable hosts. They made our stay as comfortable as possible. As it was raining a lot, they offered that we could use the projector in the living room to watch movies on the comfortable sofas. For Christmas they packed us a little basket with goodies - thanks a lot guys! The place was friendly, clean and as pictured. Everything we needed was close by. We really enjoyed our stay in Halifax!

I'm Darcey, born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
I work for a frozen seafood company and am a big sports fan of Pittsburgh teams. New to Airbnb, excited to see how it works when hosting or travelling.
I'm Riina, finally a permanent resident of Canada! I've hosted people for years and as we are fairly busy nowadays, Airbnb seemed like a better option. I like to get to know our guests a bit if schedule allows and am always willing to help with advise to the city.
We both have plenty of ideas on what to do in Halifax and can give you tips and a map, of course.
