The house is a 1, 1/4 mile drive (or 1 mile walk through the woods) from charming Concord Center with many interesting shops, galleries, restaurants and famous historical attractions. It is also near Rt.2A and Rt. 2 which lead to Cambridge, Hanscom Airport, as well as the Commuter Rail (Boston to Fitchburg). The house is 300 feet from the entrance to the Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge which has trails, a large pond with dike and abuts the Concord River. Monsen Road is a cul de sac and a beautifully serene place with song birds and towering tree. If you love nature you will enjoy this setting. If you appreciate American History and an unforgettable "Norman Rockwell" town experience, look no more, Concord is for you.
Guests have access to their bedroom and abutting bathroom.
We enjoy meeting our guests. We have a fairly busy schedule and are in and out of the house. We also work from home. If we are home and not working we look forward to chatting with our guests. We may not be available to greet our guests when they arrive. We encourage them to knock on the front door (not the door next to the garage) and if we don't answer, come right in. The guest room is at the top of the stairs to the left. Owner's bedroom is to the right.
We love the serenity and beauty of this neighborhood and area.
There is parking right in front of the house on the street. There is a commuter rail (Boston to Fitchburg) approximately 2 miles away.
There is a 2 night minimum.
We booked for 5 nights during a freezing spell but we only stayed for 1 night. The room is cozy and clean and the bathroom is very nice with a great shower. Unfortunately there was a musty smell that set off my wife's allergies and she was unable to sleep there. Maybe in warmer months the window could be opened to relieve that but between the smell and the heater banging in the night we did not sleep well.
There is one rocking chair in the room but otherwise no place to sit except the bed because the living room is off limits. Although there are two nice antique dressers, they were full, as is the closet, so we had no place to unpack our suitcases and little room to work around them. I think this room would be good for one person traveling light in warmer months, particularly for exploring the wildlife refuge, but it didn't work for us.
Christine offers a cozy room furnished with antique BR set and a large bathroom with whirlpool tub on the 2nd floor of her home. The house is on a very quiet street. We enjoyed our stay in Concord, commuting to Boston and then Salem. Christine herself is a very pleasant host.
A nice room in a lovely location! Christine made sure to be in contact before we arrived, and we were able to find our way there without any problems. The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom were clean, and the location was nice and quiet. We especially liked going for a morning walk on the nearby trails! This was a great place to spend the night.
Great location, I went on a nice hour-long morning walk at the wildlife refuge located just a block from Christine's front door! Very close to charming downtown Concord. Room was comfortable and as described, coming and going was a breeze, and communication was quick and pleasant. Thanks!
The room has a private entrance and I was given a key. There were snacks in a fridge and a coffee maker in the room. I was very comfortable. The bath has been remodeled and is outstanding. I enjoyed talking with Chris and her husband the morning I left.
Privacy in a great location. Cozy room, comfortable bed, giant luxury bathroom.
Christine was a great host! We sadly didn't get to spend too much time with her, but she was very sweet and friendly. The location and wildlife refuge is beautiful and serene, and the neighborhood charming. Main Street was also conveniently located. Accommodations were clean and rustic, and our stay was very pleasant.
Quiet stay in a well-established, relatively safe neighborhood. Clean room/bathroom, comfortable bed, good wifi, spacious bathroom, and healthy snacks. The room has only two prong outlets, so prepare yourself if you have devices with three prong electric cords. The house is about 100 yards from Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge ... just a beautiful place to walk or jog.
Lovely home in a beautiful neighborhood. I didn't have much of a chance to interact with Christine, which was too bad, but the accommodations were wonderful and I slept well there. The bathroom in particular was amazing! The wildlife refuge down the street was well worth my visit, too.
This is a lovely sanctuary. 'Right up against these historic woods, and on a low-key and charming street. The bedroom is tastefully-appointed, and the bathroom is deluxe. I was mostly not there so my interactions were minimal, but the host(s) were pleasant and clearly had thought of guests' needs. Highly recommended!
