Heart of down town private room #6

House - Private room · Suðurgata, Reykjavik, Capital Region 101, Iceland

The Space

This is a approximately 120 years old house in the heart of Reykjavik by the pond.
There is a big terrace outside accommodated with a cozy hot tub and a sitting area.
The guesthouse comes with 9 bedrooms, all in different sizes (King, Queen & Single) so it should fulfill the needs for almost anyone.

This is a twin bedroom private room.

In the basement we have the washing-drying machine and also a showering area. The basement is only 180cm in height, the former owner of the house (Stefan Karl the bad guy in Lazy Town who is quite tall always took his showers there, so we should be able to do it too. ;)
On the ground floor we have the first 3 bedrooms, a toilette with a sink, a little sitting area by the hall and also a shared kitchen which has a cozy feeling to it and has enough space for everybody to go around.
On the first floor we have the 6 remaining bedrooms, a toilette in on area and a comfortable bathtub/shower with a sink in the other.
This is downtown, so everything is in a walking distance.
Restaurants, clubs, bars, shops, theater, Reykjavik horbor, the pond. It doesn‘t really matter what you want to see, you can get there from the guesthouse in just a few minutes.
You can take Flybus, Grayline Iceland excursions and or public transportation from the corner of the street.
We offer;
-Free parking
-Free Wireless Internet (100mbps)
-Free washing machine & dryer
-Rent a bicycle per day for only 1.000 ISK
This is a lovely old house with a soul to it. We love it quite much and we think you would too. :)

  • Very pleasant stay, comfortable beds, and a very central location. Great for young people who want something a bit more comfortable and more relaxed than a hostel. I didn't meet Rosa, but did meet Petur, her husband, who is a bit of a character and a very nice guy. Highly recommended.

  • Rosa is very sweet and attentive. Her house is comfortable, clean, and very conveniently located. The kitchen is big and well equipped.
We very much enjoyed our stay.
    Thank you, Rosa!

  • I had a lovely stay at Rosa's. She accomodated me for two nights at the last minute, and everything was very well organised. The bed was very comfortable, and the house was clean with all facilities in order. The house is also in a great location, a few minutes from galleries and charming downtown Reykjavik. Would definitely stay here again!

  • amazing location. rooms are neat and tidy.

  • true to the title, Rosa's place is fantastically located in the heart of town ... for the price, you cannot do better in that regards. The heat of our booked room was not working. Even though Rosa was on holiday from the state I travelled from - Florida - she was easy to reach and moved us to the biggest suite in the house for the rest of our lengthy stay - awesome !

Despite one full bathroom - well stocked with towels - upstairs, 2 toilet rooms, and a small shower downstairs, there was never a problem getting in.

The kitchen is fantastically equipped and stocked ... coffee, tea, cooking oil, gas stovetop and oven, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and clean refrigerator.

The laundry room downstairs is well stocked as well with detergent and the machines work well.

Yes, there is a hot tub. But it was not filled with water and we were too lazy to fill it up.

I will be back next year to this great country and look forward to staying here again and hopefully meeting Rosa ( and firing up that hot tub ) Takk fyrir !

  • My friend and I enjoyed staying at this guesthouse. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable. The location is very central. Right in the heart of the city with great access to everything. Rosa's husband Pétur stopped by and was very helpful in answering our questions. We stayed for several days so it was nice to have use of the free washer/dryer.
I would gladly stay here again.

  • Rosa was able to accommodate my last minute request. She was very attentive and quick to respond. The location was excellent. Right in town. The room was extremely clean and so was the bathroom. I would definitely recommend this property!

  • We had a room in a pretty house in the center of Reykjavik with a very big kitchen and nice bathroom. Everything was clean and really uncomplicated (check-in, luggage disposal after check-out etc.). Rosa and her boyfriend are very warm and welcoming people - they even offered us some of their very good traditional Icelandic foot and breakfast coffee in the mornings. We had several good talks with them which was nice in order to get some insight into work and life in Iceland. Considering the price HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! THANKS AGAIN!
