Welcome to the Local's Venice! The Venice Blvd House is in the PERFECT Location- walk to all things Venice!! 2 blocks to the beach, one block to the Canals, and 1 block from Abbot Kinney Street (voted as THE COOLEST BLOCK IN AMERICA in gq magazine)!!
This home is central to both Venice Beach and the hottest shops/bars/restaurants on the westside, no car needed, just bike & walk & RUN into the waves, coffee shops & hipster boutiques that surround!
The bedroom with vaulted wood ceilings has a California-king size bed, and a huge closet and dresser. Beautiful white roses grow just outside the bedroom windows and fluffy pillows and beding adorn the giant bed.
The bathroom has a bathtub with shower head, toilet, sink, window, and lots of shelving, plus big fluffy bath and beach towels. It is quaint and very clean :)
One block east from the Venice Blvd House is Abbot Kinney Blvd. In 2012, GQ Magazine (Gentleman's Quarterly est 1931, NYC, 1 million readers) voted Abbott Kinney Blvd 'The COOLEST street in America'. They are right. AK (that's what the local's call it) is amazingly fun, cool, trendy, new, and visually amazing. The coffee shops serve the finest coffee beans roasted and ground to perfection, all in eco-friendly cups. The clothing shops carry the latest styles, so fashion-forward it's not yet widely recognized, in hemp and bamboo and other alternative materials. The food is unbelievable, organic and locally grown prepared with exotic seasonings in combinations never seen. Tuesday night is'Food Truck Night', on the block, and on the first friday of every month they celebrate 'First Friday's on AK', a huge street party. All walking distance (or bike if you like) from this rad vacation rental, the Venice Blvd House. No chains or franchises are permitted on AK, this is just the locally-owned small shops of the business of the area.
This one-bedroom home was built in the 1960's. The private front patio with locking gate has dining and lounging sections, a bbq for grilling, a fire pit for relaxing, and tranquil landscaping by famed local legend Al Schwartz. Put your feet up and take in the beautiful ocean breezes while 'al fresco' dining and reflecting on all the fun the days are filled with!
The interior of this one-bedroom is quite spacious for it's time. There are two entrances to the home, the side door by the living room and a front door off the patio that leads to the kitchen/dining area. The ceilings are beautiful old wooden vaulted ceilings and really add to the charm of the home.
In the living room there are plenty of seating areas and a faux fireplace. There is also a large sleeper-sofa of extra guests if needed. The dining area is beside the living room and adjacent to the full kitchen equipped with glassware, pots, pans, dish ware, utensils and more.
The home is decorated in hipster-mod, the official style of Abbot Kinney. From fun & funky statues and wall-art to the antiques from grandpa, this home's design is truly nouvelle SoCal.
A two-block stroll west will bring you to the ocean. Amazing surfing spots, volleyball courts, sun & sand! Lots of ocean-front shops are everywhere offering local crafts and crazy tee-shirts, bike rentals and marijuana (legal here with a doctor's note) paraphernalia, fried foods and cold beer. Enjoy the wild street-performers of Venice Beach, and check out our new skate park where the skateboarders show off all their tricks. The Venice Pier offers a great view of Malibu and you can often see dolphins, seals and other sea-life frolicking around and surfers catching waves. The Santa Monica Pier is packed with shop & restaurants, lots of souvenir shops, and even an amusement park with rides like a roller coaster and ferris wheel. There is tons to do and see at the beach, and whether you want to relax or be really active, there is something for everyone!
Between The Venice Blvd House and the beach, about 1 block away, are the Venice Canals Historical District. Lots of beautiful homes, birds, bridges and boats are all around you as you stroll through this famous area. If you have ever seen a canal in a movie that was outside of Italy, (The Doors... I love you, Man... Lords of Dogtown), chances are it was filmed here!
I highly recommend not renting a car. You can get everywhere by bike or foot. If you really want to go inland (Hollywood, Disney, Getty), rent a car for just the day. This beach area is the most famous in the USA, once you are here, you will not want to leave!
Please do write anytime with a question or for more information, I'm always happy to help!!
Hope to hear from you soon :)
Location of the property was great. Quite close to the beach and very close to Abbott Kinney. The apartment was cute and just as it appeared in the photo however the first thing we noticed was the scent of animal and the rug was covered in animal hair. This made us doubt how well the place had been cleaned before our visit. From the description you aren't made aware it is in a duplex and the patio is a shared space. Seeing someone walk by your bedroom window in the morning wasn't great.
Vanessa was wonderfully accommodating, responsive and great to work with. Also, the house is in a great location - very short walk to Abbot Kinney and the beach. Would definitely recommend.
This place was so cute and charming - very spacious, homely and incredibly close to Abbott Kinney!! Bed was also super comfy! Definitely recommend!
Yes, we had the perfect long weekend in LA in Vanessa's apartment. Beautiful place, cozy convenience... Location, location, location. My wife and I lived the Venice Beach neighborhood experience as if it was our own one. Walking distance to the Abbot Kinney blvd. for amazing breakfast, brunch as well as dinners. Wondering when we are going to spend another warm LA weekend... Vanessa, thanks for your attention. Best, Aina y Nacho.
Amazing location! An amazing host!
Public transport was near by though getting anywhere in LA takes so long as it's a big city.
So fantastic! What a great place and what a great host. Firstly, the house is so cute and just like the pics. Cozy with a fantastic yard. Super close to both the beach and Abbot-Kinney. Secondly, Vanessa is just great. Always easy to reach and quick with the response. She was accomodating and full of information on the area. We left already discussing when we could return to the little city beach cabin.
Vanessa was absolute gold! When we wrote to her she got back in touch straight away. When we arrived she was so accommodating; easy to get in touch with and armed with great information! Totally recommend her place...what a great spot and so close to everything! Gushing here, but can't say enough! Thanks Vanessa!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay Vanessa was great always on hand if we had any inquiries. It's a great location close to the beach and Abbot Kinney road with all the bars, restaurants and shops. We had a hire car which we had no problem parking on the street. We will be returning.
So comfy.....we were able to relax and feel right at home. We just missed Vanessa but she was very fast in responding when we arrived to let us know she would be available if we needed any questions answered. Felt it was important to rent a car and make a real exploration of LA and the surrounding areas. Well worth it and had no problem finding parking spot on street (but, beware, read the no parking sign in front of the house. We got a ticket because we didn't pay attention to the sign regarding early morning street cleaning).
