This apartment is located in the grounds of the most prominent mansion of Lagamas village, offering unique views on 19th century architecture and landscape. It is very quiet.
This full of character and very bright flat offers a dining kitchen, one sitting room/large bedroom for up to four guests and a shower room.
The double bed (160x200) features a high quality mattress, ideal for a couple. One or two extra single beds can be added, preferably for a family with children. Linen (bed sheets, towels) is included.
Whilst being in the centre of the village, the flat is very quiet*: the windows open on a private walled garden protected from any traffic noise, offering total privacy and unspoilt views.
Featuring some charming details, with traditional tiling, wooden floor in the main room and stone floor in the kitchen, this first floor flat offers the perfect retreat or stop-over to explore the Languedoc region.
I have come here every year since I was born, and have never felt bored! This is truly an inspiring region.
You will have access to the flat itself, with its own independent entry and a laundry room.
No amenities or areas to be shared with others.
Interaction with Guests
As I am based abroad (unless I reside in the house next door for short periods), most of the interaction takes place via email and phone. It is possible to put you in touch with local contacts (wine makers, guides etc) if you wish so.
Located in the small and preserved village of Lagamas, you will reside in the heart of the Hérault Valley, with stunning views on vineyards and olive trees.
The village is characterised by its traditional architecture across (maison de maitre, maisons de vignerons) and a lovely church, which is a miniature of Chateauroux cathedral....
There is a plethora of things to see, do and taste nearby...
Only 15 minutes away from 'les gorges de l'Hérault' and St Guilhem-le-Désert (UNESCO site), the region boosts an endless suite of attractions:
- Sport amateurs don't be shy: swimming, canyoning, cave exploration, climbing, nautical activities (Lac du Salagou), snorkeling and scuba-diving, riding, mountain bike, free ride, hiking*, golf, tennis, aqualand, and the ultimate one: sunbathing (the region has over 300 days of sunshine!)
- A heaven for foodies: there are great markets and winegrowers all around. Look for great cuisine such as Michelin star De Lanzun restaurant in Gignac. Scout for fantastic wine as the valley is said to be the most creative and dynamic wine region in the world (there are 3 producers in the village itself - ask us more by email for further recommendations).
- History galore: St Guilhem-le-Désert village and abbey, the so-called Bridge of the Devil, Roman ruins, the Midi Canal...
- Some exceptional and diverse natural treasuries: view point from the Pic Saint-Loup and Mont Saint-Baudile, the Clamouse caves, the Hérault canyon, the landform cirque of Navacelles and dolomitic limestone outcrop of Mourèze, the Larzac plateau, the Camargue estuary...
- Lively historical cities: Montpellier, Bézier, Sète, Aigues-Mortes, Pézenas, Lodève and for a day trip Nîmes, Arles…
- Plenty of museums: St-Jean-de-Fos pottery museum Argileum, Cap d'Agde aquarium, Copper mine Pioch Farrus, Reptilium…
And a dense agenda of concerts, shows, local products fairs, festivals... not just during the summer season.

Easily accessible from A750 and E11/A75, a car is essential to explore around. But consider bringing in a bike to fully taste the small roads and paths across the vineyards and up the hills...
Enjoy some good and free parking on the village square, just off the flat.
There are no shops or cafés in the village itself, though in season one of our neighbours sells eggs and vegetables. It is at cycling distance from Gignac (great Saturday market!), St-Jean-de-Fos, St-André-de-Sangonis and Montpeyroux, which all have bakeries, post office, supermarkets, bars and restaurants etc.
Once your booking is confirmed, I will send you a detailed sheet about how to get to Lagamas (by air, train, car, bicycle...), and other local information (market days, shops, wineries, restaurants...).

We are incurring incremental difficulties with the internet line. The reason is simple but alas beyond our control: data traffic jam. The telephone equipment installed in the region is unable to cope properly with high speed data transmission and the exponential use of internet. Increasing our subscribed eligible data capacity does not change it: the size of one's engine won't make the car drive faster in a traffic jam...

Some guests who sleep with the windows open have commented that the village church's bells are an unexpected feature. Not so much for all local villages around though who cherish that tradition... but one can understand that it may surprise urban ears.
An air conditioning machine is provided for the summer - though let's not forget how locals regulate the heat: curtains closed during the day, windows opened for a few hours after sunset.
The sleeping room has thick curtains. However, it won't provide a pitch dark environment.
Access to the flat is based on SELF-CHECK IN (after 2pm) and OUT (before 11am), which offers guests much flexibility for arrival and departure time.

NO EXTRA / HIDDEN CHARGES: cleaning fee includes fresh bed linen, bathroom towels and tea towel.
