Garden cottage in beautiful quiet garden setting; easy access to Railae beach, Ao Nang beach and nearby islands. Hexagonal-shaped 2 bedroom house with new polished cement bathroom and kitchen area that opens onto a covered outdoor dining area.

The space

A lovely garden cottage set in a beautiful, quiet location at the foothills of the limestone karsts surrounding the Railae peninsula. The main sleeping area is a timber hexagon and has one king bed and a single day bed. The second bedroom has a double bed. The house is surrounded by a wooden deck that has hammocks. At the back of the house is a new polished cement kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen opens onto a covered outdoor area for dining.

The house is surrounded by a tropical garden.

Interaction with guests

I live in Hong Kong and stay in this house in Krabi as often as I can, but basically you have it all to yourself. I have lived in this community for 18 years and there are some lovely local families who live nearby. The caretaker lives next door. I can help arrange an airport pickup if you need it.

Other things to note

Near to the house is a muay Thai training camp (0.5 kms), fresh food market (0.5 kms), restaurants and shops (1.5 kms), beautiful beach and boats to nearby islands (4 kms).

The place looks exactly how it does on the photos. As other people have said it is open and rustic, so expect a few bugs and jungle noises at night! The area where the house is located is very picturesque, Noo was great during our stay and is always on hand to help out. The only downside is that the house is far away from the main town in Ao Nang, so a moped is essential, because of this we only stayed for two nights rather than the six nights we had booked. For what we wanted to do in Ao Nang a moped was not for us, if you are after something a little out the way this place will be perfect for you.

The place comes as advertised. There is endless amount of space for 2 ppl. It would could sleep 4-5 easily. The shower only has cold water and there are some ants on the bunk bed upstairs however this is what you would expect for a hut. The kitchen is nice to have. The secondary bedroom attached to the hut is actually cooler to sleep in that the main bed. You feel safe on the property as Noo and his family are outside coming and going all day long. It is an easy 5-7 min walk into town and the location is a nice peaceful get away from the busy town Center of Ao Nang. We were happy to meet a couple of Swedes and Aussies staying on the property in Natalie's other property and we had a great New Year's Eve party in Ao Nang together. The hammock is the best part of the whole experience!

Natalie responded to emails pretty quickly and offered lots of information about getting around and who to contact for a good rock climbing experience. There are pros and cons to each side of things, as explained in the following. 1) As multiple people have said, this place is very open to the outside. It was pretty cool watching lizards eat moths, not cool to walk into the room and have a giant bee looking thing inside. It does have a tree house feel to it though, and the neighborhood cat is super friendly and quite photogenic. 2) No hot water, but its so hot in Thailand that you don't really need it anyway. 3) There is a portable gas stove that works very well. Unfortunately the pots were a bit on the rusty side, so we only boiled eggs instead of doing full blown cooking. 4) it took us 40 minutes to walk to Ao Nang pier, but with good company it doesn't feel like 40 minutes at all. The neighbors across the street can get you a tuk tuk if you want to save time. 5) Only the bedroom off tot he side has a lock; the rest of the place anyone can just walk in. Fortunately, no one ever walked in or stole valuables accidentally left out. This can make some people uncomfortable though. There is a safe but we never bothered to figure out how to use it. 6) There is a minifridge. That thing is a lifesaver on hot days. 7) Mosquitoes everywhere, but the mosquito repellent we bought at the nearby family mart/7-11 worked well enough Overall, this place was pretty awesome. Would recommend.

We booked a room in the jungle for 3 days with my friend when visiting Ao Nang. For sure that was an amazing experience much less touristic and more authentic. It's very close to the city though the scooter is a must. The lack of ac might be little worrying but the house is designated in a way that fans are sufficient enough. I'd definitely recommend the place for all adventures travellers looking for some unique experience!

Lovely home near by the beach. Natalie made sure that we got a pick up from the airport by her nice neighbours. I would definitely recommend this place.

Natalie's Cottage is Amazing. All the descriptions were accurate and really gave us a full feel of staying in Ao Nang. On arrival Noo and company make you feel comfortable. For us they picked us up from the bus station in Krabi town and drove us to the cottage. Then Noo's sister order a motorbike for us, and since he knew her it felt safe to do with more of a family friend then a tourist stand for renting them. the service was great they deliver the bike and come and pick it up on your desired time. It is about a 10-20 minute walk to the main strip in Ao Nang so I would rent a motorbike. The cabin was clean. And some of the other reviews said that they didn't have much privacy because there was construction but we didn't experience that. and also it felt nice having noo's family so close, everything felt safer because there was always someone around. Noo was also around alot in the morning which was great as well just in case we ever needed anything. Natalie's place provided all the essentials and was a really amazing and relaxing stay. I would learn how to say the address in Thai just in case you have to get a Tuk Tuk home. A lot of the driver's don't know how to use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps. We would for sure stay there again if we are ever traveling back to Ao Nang.

Originally from Australia, I have been living and working in Asia (Thailand, Laos and Hong Kong since 1992) and like to spend as much time as I can in this quiet little house and garden in Krabi. If you haven't been to Krabi before, it is really something special.
