Unique, passive solar, grass roofed, water front paradise with a shared deep water dock. Incredible bio luminescence at night that looks like stars underwater! Borders on a wilderness ocean front park, white sand beach 5 mins drive away with whale and orca watching from the shore. Nearby; warm lakes, crystal clear river pools, old growth trees marching to the waters edge. From surfing to paddle boarding you are on an adventure close to nature and only 35 minutes to Victoria.
The space
2,000 sq ft, sleeps 6, two bedrooms + Queen size fold out Futon in TV room. two story passive solar home with 40ft 0f 9ft high panoramic windows along ocean side view, with grass roof full of flowers. Ground floor is open plan with large Kitchen and living room, plus a bathroom with bath tub.
Upstairs are two lovely waterfront view bedrooms , main bedroom 2 has an ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower and walk in closet. Both have views across the idyllic cove. Upstairs is also a large TV space & couch with a 65" Sony TV with Prime Video. Heating is Hydronic heated floors downstairs.
Outside is a 40ft by 8ft cedar deck with views across the cove and the deep water dock.
Guest access
The entire home is yours to enjoy. Parking for about 4 cars is easily managed. 3 at the top and 1 or 2 at bottom nearer home entrance, lower parking has tight turning space. There are 7 wide steps to access the home. You can also access beside the steps via the side gravel slope, suitable for a bicycle or with some care a wheel chair (a bit narrow with flowers and daises to sides ). Wheel chair access to the upstairs bedrooms and tv room is also possible (a bit of an off road adventure over the grass lawn.) . Via the upstairs door in rear garden area. You do need to be able to tilt the wheel chair back to rise over a one step as the ramp does not reach the very top.
Sorry due to allergies pets are not allowed, any guests found with pets will be charged a one time $500. Special cleaning fee.
Access to the dock for owner and friends is via the forest path from top parking area to the dock, you may on occasion see someone on this path going to the dock.
Other things to note
The property has a shared deep water dock. You should contact us ahead if you wish to bring your own boat. The path to the dock is a forest path that is quite primitive without handrails on the path and dock ramp. Care should be taken. Young children must be accompanied on the dock at all times and wear life jackets provided in the log shed by lower car park area. In summer the water is quite warm for swimming and has the famous underwater stars at night time (bio luminescence). Bring your paddle boards ! ( You can launch then from the nearby boat launch) Also great for kayaking, we do have an older canoe you may use so long as you wear life jackets and never go out side of the Cove.
A quick 7 min drive away is the famous Galloping Goose (old railway track) cycle/hiking path that takes you to Sooke Potholes or into Victoria and beyond!
We do have a beach at the home but its rocky and silty, more fun swimming from the dock. A short 5 min drive away is the famous East Sooke Park with is perfect white sand beach (Aylard farm car park) and snow capped mountain views!
