Superbly Located 2BApt - Portobello

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Portobello Harbour, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland

I’m renting my entire apartment in the great central location of Portobello. Recently renovated, my place has a nice modern feel to it and is within walking distance of Dublin city centre – St. Stephens Green is just 10 minutes away.

The Space

The apartment is nice and spacious with good light and comfortably sleeps 4 people in 2 double beds. There’s also two good sized bathrooms (1 ensuite) so no queueing in the morning!
There’s a separate living and kitchen area that’s been recently renovated and includes 4 ring electric cooker & oven, fridge, microwave, washer/dryer, lots of storage space and all the kitchen equipment you’d need to cook and have a quiet night in if you don’t feel like availing of any of the restaurants in the area. Help yourself to anything in the cupboards, I live here when it’s unoccupied so the basics are all here.

Guest Access

Guests have full use of the apartment – TV, Wifi, DVD player, iron, hairdryer etc. Parking can be arranged if required but I’ll need a little bit of notice so please contact me for more details.

Interaction with Guests

I’ll be there for a meet and greet on arrival and can answer any questions you have about the apartment and the area. I’m at the end of the phone for any troubleshooting and work locally most days so never too far away if needed - otherwise make yourself at home!

The Neighborhood

Portobello itself is one of the most vibrant, up and coming areas in Dublin with loads of amenities right on the doorstep. Restaurant-wise, there’s everything from cheap and cheerful to michelin star places a 5 minute walk away. There’s lots of great pubs, coffee shops, tea houses, delis and shops all within a few minutes as well, and also not forgetting the location right on the Grand Canal, a famous Dublin landmark.

Getting around

Access to public transport is a 2 minute walk – buses and the green line LUAS tram are right around the corner (Charlemont stop) and there’s also a Dublin Bike stand 20 metres from the front door. For taxis, just walk out to the main road and you’ll never be waiting longer than a minute or two to hail one; alternatively I’d recommend downloading the Hailo taxi app for taxis to the front door.
There’s also access to the Aircoach for transport to and from the airport on Leeson St Upr (near canal) which is about a 10 minute walk or 2 minutes in a taxi. Taxis to the airport if you book in advance shouldn’t cost you more than 25-30 euro.

Other Things to Note

Basically my apartment is right on the canal at Portobello bridge and this is a good reference point to keep in mind for navigating the transport links. The closet tram stop (see above) is on the canal, as is the Aircoach for airport transport.

There’ll be a detailed information booklet here for when you arrive.

  • Wayne was an awesome host! He was very accommodating and helpful. The apartment was exactly as described and everything was clean. It was also very nice to have a secure parking spot for the rental car while staying. He also had an assortment of guidebooks, tourist info, and take out menus that were of great help. Would definitely stay again :)

  • Bonjour,
Nous avons passé un agréable séjour à Dublin. Votre appartement est bien situé et le quartier est calme. Accueil chaleureux de Wayne qui parlait un peu trop vite pour nous français. Adresse à recommander. Cordialement.

  • What a fantastic experience all around so where to begin?!

Áine and Wayne couldn't do enough to help us make our stay in Dublin wonderful. Firstly, they accommodated us for an unusual check-in time and made us feel comfortable immediately, the way old friends might after they haven't seen you in a while.

Our first impression of the apartment was that it was clean, well equipped and tastefully decorated, perfectly suited for our family. A fresh bunch of flowers were set in a vase on the table and the kitchen was gratuitously stocked with a few basic essentials. A lovely surprise, and a testament to the lovely couple's expert hospitality and thoughtfulness, was a bottle of Prosecco to help us toast our impending nuptials, to be held in Dublin that week. They even left us a card wishing us well on our wedding day!

The neighbourhood is ideal for 100+ reasons. It is set off of the Grand Canal and a stone's throw from Camden Street and all the fun stuff there. There are a couple of Dublin Bike stations nearby as well as one of the oldest bakeries in town, the Bretzel Bakery, around the corner. We love Portobello for its ease into town as well as its proximity to town, Rathmines, the Charlemont Luas and walks along the water.

We cannot recommend the apartment, Áine and Wayne enough. If you're reading this post now and trying to find a place for your visit to Dublin, look no further!

  • We had a great stay at Wayne's. He had some food and drinks provided, we didn't even have to go out for breakfast after our first night, which was great.
Wayne was a very welcoming host! The apartment was so clean and nice, it felt like staying at a hotel with great smelling sheets, soft towels and flickering candles. Lovely!

  • We spent a wonderful weekend in Wayne´s flat. He is a very friendly person, gave us a few interesting recommandations and let us feel at home.
The flat is perfect, nice neighborhood and not far from town centre.
    I can highly recommend him!

  • Great place to stay in Dublin! Wayne was fantastic showing me around the place and making sure I would feel at home. The location is great, just a quick walk to City Centre, Ranelagh and Rathmines. The house is in great condition and very comfortable.

  • Wayne was awesome. I arrived late and he was super flexible and accommodating. He had left basic household accessories you take for granted in a hotel, but too few hosts don't have. He even went the extra mile and had, groceries, pints, local guides and insider tips, stuff to shower with just generally stuff to make you feel at ease. I loved the location and his generosity and would definitely recommend staying with Wayne.

I'm a 34 year old originally from Monaghan, Ireland and have been either living in Dublin or travelling abroad for about the last 10 years. I'm new to the AirBnB community but I'd like to think that I'm a fairly easy going character and I'd say my hosting style would reflect that. Due to work commitments at the moment, I split my time between Dublin and a house by the sea further up the coast. I work in the restaurant business so I'm always good for a recommendation around the area!
