Sky Acres is located in a quite rural setting, but it's only a 45 minutes from Cooperstown NY, and hour from the Albany and the New York Capital District. Fifteen minutes down the mountain is the charming village of Cobleskill, offering shopping, restaurants, golf, bowling, and The State University of New York at Cobleskill.
Sky Acres was the Christiansen Family home for many years. We only ask that you treat it the way you would treat your own home.
We had a great Memorial Day weekend at this quaint house - barbecuing on the gas grill, playing games, and hiking around the expansive property. There is a fantastic view from the top of the hill. We had a bonfire under the stars up there on the second night. Highly recommended for big groups; there is plenty of space for everyone and a well-equipped kitchen.
Dennis was a tremendous host, and the beautiful Sky Acres Farms was everything he (and the other happy visitors whose reviews I read) said it was. Despite our being late due to traffic, Dennis waited patiently for us to arrive, showed as around the house, gave us a bit of history about the home, and then left us to enjoy the 200 acres upon which it is situated. He even left us some groceries for the next morning (including some delicious fresh eggs from his chicken).
The home itself was immaculately clean, comfortable, and had every accommodation we could hope for. And spending a late afternoon and early evening up by the fire pit (with incredible views for miles upon miles outward) playing frisbee, enjoying a bonfire, and doing some stargazing was pretty much the perfect close to Saturday evening.
In short, whether you're looking for a quiet, calming place to spend a relaxing weekend of hiking, hanging out, and cooking out or you want a place to unwind after hitting up other local attractions (we went to the Baseball Hall of Fame--Dennis left directions for his visitors that made the trip much easier), you will definitely have a tremendous time at Sky Acres Farms. Impossible not to love the home and the host!
Dennis was a friendly and accommodating host, quick to respond to all communication. The house is beautiful and the grounds are lovely as well. Hoping to return next year!
Beautiful house just like in the pictures! Denis and his wife were extremely helpful and welcoming. The kitchen was big enough to cook for us and we had ample space to sit around and chat. Another excellent aspect of this house is the property itself. We were able to walk around and enjoy the beautiful trees and scenery! Denis and his wife had a map of where we could go on walks on the property and we took full advantage of it!
I recommend the house and would love to go back!
The only downfall is that they do not have WiFi. We did not mind at all as we wanted to disconnect ourselves for a couple of days and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Dennis was a great host for a group of teachers who had come up for a colleague's wedding. He was there to greet us, had great directions and was helpful with any of our needs.
The house has a ton of country charm. It feels like we were let into their family's lives, and that's a real honor.
Go here if you are looking to get away, do some star gazing, enjoy one another's company. It IS a country house, so it does come with its quirks, but that's why you are going there.

Great place, great host, fantastic time. I'll be back!
