Welcome to our cozy apartment in one of the most fun neighborhoods in Dallas. It is a one bedroom apartment in one of the original houses on the block. The apartment has its own private entrance. We are less than 2 blocks away from the Lower Greenville strip with restaurants, shops, nightlife and great people watching. The apartment is newly designed with everything you will need for a comfortable home away from home.
About The Apartment:
Our home was built in 1926 and keeps its old charm in the addition to modern amenities. There are two living quarters in the main house and one in back. The guest apartment is in the main house.
We renovated the guest apartment in April, 2013. The main room combines living and kitchen space. There is a comfortable sofa in the living room that opens into a spare double bed. The flatscreen TV has cable from Uverse. You have your own wireless internet access. If you don’t want to walk down the street to any of the cool restaurants, you can prepare your own dinner in the compact kitchen which is equipped with an under-the-counter fridge, microwave/convection oven, stovetop and dishes. Wood floors throughout make it easy for us to keep the apartment clean for you. The bathroom has the original claw-foot tub with a pretty fancy shower system attached. The bed in the beautiful bedroom is a new queen sized bed that is so comfortable, you just don’t want to get up!
The house shares cable access and electricity, however the guest apartment has its own private wifi and central heat and air. We could not fit a washer and dryer in the apartment, so we suggest nearby bundle laundry service or laundrymats. We will launder sheets and towels once a week. Parking is on the street in front of the house. We cannot accommodate dogs or cats in the apartment. However we do know of some good doggie hotels in the area.
We work full time, so this is not a hotel or BnB. It is a great place to stay for a short or long visit to Dallas.
About The Neighborhood:
You are going to LOVE IT! Your stay with us puts you in the middle of the best Dallas has to offer for sightseeing, getting around and nightlife. The Dallas Art District is 3 miles away and includes the Dallas Museum of Art (free admission), the Nasher Sculpture Garden and other galleries and parks, the Opera House and the new Museum of Nature and Science. The George W Bush presidential library and museum which just opened in May of 2013 is 2.5 miles away. White Rock Lake Park and the Dallas Arboretum are just over 3 miles to the east of us.
The Lower Greenville area is home to lots of restaurants, pubs and coffee shops; all within walking distance. Walk to Trader Joe’s and the Walmart Neighborhood Food Mart. Whole Foods, Sprouts and Greengrocers are less than a mile away.
You can borrow our 2 bikes to get around the neighborhood. It is great sight-seeing.
And now about your neighbors:
We are a great block in the Greenville Ave neighborhood. It is a great mix of friendly people that are always willing to help. We have lived here for over 18 years and love it. The apartment is on our property so it makes it easy for us to help you get settled in.
If you don't want to walk or bike around, there is public transportation at the end of our block. Take the bus around, or take the bus to the rail system, just up the street. Downtown, the parks, the arts district, and lots of interesting places are easy to get to from here.
No pets, please. We do have a dog on the premises.
Street parking is available during your stay.
In season you are welcome to herbs from the herb garden below your bedroom window.
We will help you enjoy your stay and we will respect your privacy. Please be respectful of your neighbors with regards to noise and reasonable hours. Our place is too small for parties, so please respect that.
Perfect home away from home. Very well appointed apartment, with everything you need: fully equipped kitchenette, comfy bed, quiet place, Wifi and TV. Marie has thought about every single detail and welcomes you with treats. It is very well located, 10 minutes away from major attractions: downtown, Dallas Arboretum & botanical garden, Meadows Museum and the Trinity River Audubon Center. There is a very good selection of restaurants for every taste with take home options just two blocks away. The shrimp (email hidden) Shacks is the best I have tried. Excellent seafood at Daddy Jacks; go hungry or you will not be able to finish your plate. Awesome bakery about a mile away: the Village Backing Co. on University Blvd. off of Greenville Ave. To top it, friendly neighbors working in their gardens during the weekend after the rain made you feel you belonged in the neighborhood. We certainly would like to stay here when we visit Dallas again.
We had a great time at Marie's place right outside of downtown Dallas. It was exactly what we were looking for: quiet, private, and near some great restaurants and shops. Marie greeted us when we arrived and told us of several options for meals and a great coffee spot (Mudsmith-not to be missed!). The apartment was clean and stocked with small food items, and toiletries. We were so impressed with the setup of the apartment! The Greenville area is a real treat. We arrived during the St. Patrick's Day celebration in Greenville and while that was crazy, Marie's place was quiet and removed from the crowds. We had our own private entry and code in order to enter. We also were able to park on the street with a parking pass Marie left us. One night my wife and I walked to pick up food at a nearby pizza place and just ate in the apartment because we enjoyed it so much! We really felt at home and would definitely return to stay when we return to Dallas. Thank you Marie, we had a wonderful time!
Very nice apt in a very nice area of Dallas. Access to lowest Greenville was great - restaurants, shops, etc. Marie is a gracious hostess.
This was my first time using airbnb and I absolutely loved it! This place is super cute and cozy. Marie really thought of everything. The mini kitchen had snacks, teas, coffee, wine and fun size chocolates. The bathroom was stocked with extra white towels and toiletries and the living room was very clean and cozy. We also had complimentary access to wifi and cable. I was absolutely impressed by all the extras, the cleanliness, and that it is very close to everything- walking distance to restaurants and 15 mins from downtown.
What an awesome find. Described as Cosy but to us ozzies it was a great size. Warm & homely with little added extras all over the place. Perfectly situated near downtown Dallas which was a 8 min drive, Lower Granville was amazing. Marie recommends a fish restaurant called Daddy Jacks which I will say is the best fish restaurant we have ever been too. Great bars. We unfortunately did not get to meet Marie but she answered really quickly to any emails. Would go back anytime & highly recommend it.
Marie made us feel welcome and the apartment, with warm decor and colorful decorations, has tons of character. She thought of everything, from extra toothbrushes to late-night snacks. The location couldn't have been better.
Great Set-up. Very conveniently located. Everything was easily spelled out for me. Didn't have to ask any questions or worry about getting a key etc.

I have traveled around the world and love to meet new people. And yet, I am most happy when I am home with a good book or sitting around with friends. I think that is the reason I like the concept of Airbnb - enjoying that "home" feel even when traveling.
