We had a very enjoyable stay in Molly and Ward's amazing house in Easky. A huge amount of work has gone into making this building a beautiful place to stay in a wild part of Ireland. Molly and Ward are very friendly, and tea in front of the roaring fire when we arrived was perfect after the drive down. We would definitely recommend a stay here.
This beautiful place far exceeded my expectations . I had wanted a holiday to myself, taking a break from family life. I had noticed this property on Air BnB a few times before and read really positive reviews each time. Molly the host replied to my booking request immediately and communication flowed between us. My husband dropped me off for my 4 night stay and I'm pretty sure he was jealous of me and the treat in store.
My room was just top notch- lovely views of the Atlantic from the 3 windows, a bed that was so comfy , with the ensuite bathroom which also had a view of the ocean and an amazing overhead shower in a ceramic bath. You can shower and keep an eye on the sea at the same time. Bliss.
I was solo and feeling shy but Molly, along with partner Ward, welcomed me warmly and I could tell that they are very fun, interesting people - and very talented! They invited me to join them some evenings to listen to live music in the gorgeous sitting room in front of the fire and I had really serious fun, along with generous glasses of lovely wine, served from the In-house bar! I also booked dinners nearly every evening and I'm glad I did- delicious food, fresh and lovingly prepared . The mega breakfast I had every morning, served in the beautiful kitchen, set me up for the day. Molly and Ward know Easkey very well and they share all the treats that are in store for you locally. The house itself is a wonderfully restored old Georgian style mansion with all sorts of amazing artefacts , art and architectural features that photos won't do justice to. You can feel the love and hard work they have put into the restoration. It's unique.
Easkey itself is a lovely , sleepy old Irish village. I recommend the pub McGowan's , if you want a slice of life in the locale. Great music, nice pints of Guinness and totally friendly staff and clientele .
Then there's the Atlantic Ocean, crashing waves onto the amazing rocky beach. This is a surfers heaven and I spent a lot of time at the beach, watching them surf the waves- it's mesmerising . The views of Ben Bulben and Queen Maeve's Grave are stunning. In the sunshine , Sligo reveals her great beauty and it's just breath taking. Yeats was not wrong about his favourite county.
So all in all, I had a brilliant time , staying at Easkey House and it's lovely bohemian atmosphere and friendly hosts , along with the amazing location. I'm very happy to recommend this experience. And it was an experience! I will be returning! A big thank you to Molly and Ward for making it so special.
It's absolutely the best place to stay!!!
The welcoming atmosphere, a just breathtaking view, the charming house, the delicious breakfast.... We just loved everything about it!
We hope to return to this spacial place soon!
Thank you so much, Samantha!
Went to stay in Easky House for the August bank holiday with 10 friends. From start to finish Molly was extremely helpful and answered any enquiries promptly. The house itself is amazing and full of character. Highlight included the bar, sound system and very comfy beds! Great house for a party!
Beautiful and peaceful spot on the coast. Molly is a great host, very welcoming, and the house itself is very impressive. Would definitely stay again.
Wow! Molly's house was the peaceful retreat we were looking for, for a birthday treat. The rooms are huge, comfortable, spotless and beautiful. The beds are so snug. Every view out of every window is stunning. Molly is a gracious and kind host. Her food is delicious and the best we had on our entire trip. In the morning we woke to the smell of fresh coffee even after a lie in and early before our airport return journey breakfast was served. Molly never rushed us and catered to our specific needs so kindly. In the evening we sat by the log fire and played billards, ate cheese and crackers and drank good wine and Irish Whiskey. When we were not in her care, Molly booked and recommend such lovely places to visit and to eat for dinner. Belleck Castle and the Seaweed Baths at Inniscore were our favourites.
Molly's home is practically on the beach and I envied the surfers at the shore. I'd love to return to this land. Sometimes you strike lucky and this location and its host were a dream.
A truly special experience. Great restoration of a charming, old country house. Mid-November cold made sitting by the fire in a warm, cozy living room even more enjoyable. Working fireplaces on our bedrooms were lovely, as well. Fantastic breakfasts by Ward and Molly. You're making a mistake if you don't take the hosts up on their offer to dine-in on at least one night of your stay. We did so on two occasions and enjoyed two of the best meals (lamb pie on night 1, fresh mackerel on night 2) of our 10 day trip to Ireland. Highly recommended.
