This is a beautiful old country house on 9 acres of land around it, overlooking one of the best surf breaks in the West of Ireland. There are 4 onsuite bedrooms available, all with king size beds, open fireplaces. Breakfast is made tu suit the guests requirements - we make traditional Irish breakfast with local organic eggs and meats from local butcher, Irish soda bread, also vegetarian options. Dinner can also be provided upon request as the host makes delicious pies for the local farmers market, seafood showder etc.
Positives-comfy bed, interesting architecture, amazing breakfast.
Negative-directions, cleanliness, renovations ongoing, and did I mention cleanliness???
I think once this place is finished, it has great potential. However, more attention to detail needs to go into the service provided. Something needs to be done about the directions, and cleanliness should ALWAYS be top priority. I felt like I was staying at a sloppy cousins rather than paid for accommodations. It was very uncomfortable to have smelly garbage in the kitchen and someone else's hair in our shower.
Molly and Ward have a beautiful house and unpretentious hospitality. Simple, straightforward and kind. They were also very flexible with our check-in and gave us good advice for local food and worth visiting places. Ward is very knowledgeable on the area and the history of the house and Molly lays her artistic touch in the house. Beautiful area worth visiting. Takes you out of time and reality even if its for a short two-day stay.
My friend Marta who was with me said: Such nice people :)
Molly is an amazing host. We got to the house quite late and she was waiting for us. She was really kind. She gave us great advice as to what to do in Easky, where to go for food, what to see. The breakfast was delicious. The house is beautiful and really unique. They put so much time and effort in keeping it in the best condition. Will definitely come back.
This place is great.
It is living and growing, I would like to get back to it in the future to see how it develops.
It is a great place to relax, and take it easy.
Molly was away when we visited, but we were left in the capable hands of Jan and his two adorable kids.
It was unfortunate that we stayed mid week and were the only guests there at the time: you get the sense that magic things happen at the weekends with more people about: music, conversation, good food and general good company.
The only thing I would suggest that you do before you go is to talk to the guys to get precise directions. There are no signs out side...it does however give the impression that it is a well kept secret. ;-)
This house is not family-friendly, and I would make sure to read all the reviews before you book it. There are no locks on the front door or on the bedroom doors, so the house is greatly lacking in safety and security. This was especially an issue for us since we have two small girls, and they could open the door and head right out onto the staircase that our door opened onto.
I would agree with the person who reviewed Molly and said that the house has more of a hostel feel, and it's not an actual accredited B&B. And while the photos of the house look amazing, it's cold, dark, and shabby in person. There was also random exercise equipment in our room, as well as a huge mirror that wasn't attached to the wall and started wobbling when our daughter ran over to it.
Lastly, we had a very difficult time finding the house. We called Molly on the phone and were still confused, so she drove into town to meet us and lead us to the house. While this was very nice of her, it turned out that she had a smartphone and could have just sent us her location, which my husband had specifically asked her to do! Her reasoning was that she was disorganized, but that was kind of frustrating.
Having said all that, Molly handled our concerns and our decision to cut our stay short graciously. And the views from the house are very nice. If you don't have small children and are interested in a more communal environment, it might be a good fit for you. It's not a bad place, it just wasn't at all right for our family.
This place was the most unique and amazing experiences we've ever had on AirBNB. The hosts are gracious, the location is beautiful, the house is antique and has a great story, and the breakfast was superb. We almost considered changing our schedule in order to stay here longer. This is the best AirBNB value you can get in Ireland. Check out the bar in back, and the pool table in the living room... this would be an ideal place for a party!
The only thing needing improvement is directions to the place- even with a satellite navigator device, it was INCREDIBLY difficult to locate at night. We found it is somewhat regular in Ireland to not have street addresses, but anything- a balloon, a sign, a marker- would have made locating this place easier.
Perfect for those looking for a unique experience.Remote and peace- full and a very relaxed, as were the hosts, with a very, easy come easy go attitude. The house alone is worth a visit, and while your there you should check out the breakfast, yummm
A hidden treasure! We absolutely enjoyed the stay at the Atlantic View Countryhouse! Fantastic atmosphere, great breakfast in the lovely kitchen and peaceful silence.
Very laid back, perfect for relaxing or as a starting point to discover nearby Sligo etc.
