About the area:
It is a true urban oasis situated in a 80%residential 20%commercial zone. The streets in the area are mainly one-way which cuts way down on traffic flow.
The area in general is mixed culturally, racially, and socio-economically. We have many artists, in fact the Thompson Twins used to live across the street. We also have many doctors, professionals, professors, and like most cities we have a homeless population that is served by a local soup kitchen and shelter on the edge of downtown. For many urban dwellers this will be a recognizable mix of people, but for those coming from less diverse areas you may prefer to drive around rather than walk. I have lived in this neighborhood for 15 years and know that, while it can be colorful at times, it is also safe.

Excellent place to stay while visiting Providence, RI. I felt like in a five stars hotel room, everything was well organized and cleaned. Every time I had a question, Karen replied to me within minutes. The house is conveniently located within really close walking distance from main hotels and convention center. For my next visit to Providence, I really look forward to book Karen's place again.
My partner and I spent two nights here while visiting family in the area. The space is just as lovely, quiet, private and comfortable as the listing and the other reviews describe. The bed was supremely cozy and comfortable, and everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged. Proximity to White Electric, one of our favorite cafes, was another plus! (Although you'd do just as well to enjoy the locally-roasted coffee provided in the room.) Thanks for a great stay.
We had a great stay at Karen's house. We took advantage of the recommendations that Karen gave us for places to eat and indeed Providence is a great city for food and drink. Although it was spring the weather was cold but the house was very comfortable and the bed even more so! There are a number of stairs to negotiate but it's worth it for the cozy and private accommodation area. The shower head is not mounted above the claw bath which can make for some challenging showering but if you've got time to have a soak then that's the way to go! We wouldn't hesitate in staying again.
This place could not be cuter. I pride myself on being a planner on trips and think of everything I might need. Well Karen did all the thinking for me. She had everything you could possibly need while staying at her home. She has a book with restaurant suggestions, shopping suggestions, maps, places to see, etc. She has great coffee or tea for the morning and dishes to use. She even has rain gear if needed. She literally thought of everything. The bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on and the tub was a nice change that forced me to relax. The place was very clean which is a must when I am staying away from home. Karen was great with communication and so sweet when I met her in person. She gave great restaurant recommendations. Kitchen and North are both within walking distance and worth the wait. I couldn't have been happier with my stay. The price is a steal for such a great place to stay.
Cosy room and lovely welcome. maybe a bit hard to get to from downtown. We used a taxi in the end . Info pack directed us to Olgas for breakfast which was lovely .
It was a perfect stay - warm welcome and help getting settled. The space is like a well appointed "tree-house" up on the 3rd floor among the trees and birds. Attention to details from coffee to comfy bed to a local area binder of food and fun makes you feel right at home. I will certainly rebook and suggest friends to stay with Karen and Cindy!
Everything was exactly as described on the airbnb site. We really enjoyed our stay and greatly appreciated that Karen was very careful about removing all down and wool items to accommodate my allergies. Karen also made sure to check in with us to see that everything was okay. We would happily stay there again.
