This little casita is ideal for the traveler that does not want to spend a lot of money on accommodation. Situated less that 1 km / .5 mile from Playa Hermosa Surf beach it is great for surfers or backpackers. Close to bars, restaurants and store at the beach. Close to bus stop for Manual Antonio or Puntarenas. Only a 10 min taxi ride to Jaco.
The casita is a self contained private room with en-suite bathroom. It has a twin bed and a futon to sleep up to 2 people. It is located on the grounds of a larger family house and grounds are gated for security. There is no A/C, but the casita enjoys the sea breezes and there is a ceiling fan. There is a single bed and a futon to accommodate up to 2 people.
You need a car or a torch for walking the dirt track to this venue which is quite a distance from town. The hosts weren't there to greet us but another lady showed us to the casito. The house is very cute but we got off to a bad start as the front door (which has a crack in it) didn't lock, the shower head was broken, the aircon pumped out boiling hot air on its pipe and there was no coffee machine ( as shown in the photos) Once notified Jon sorted these quickly. However the room has still mad hot even with the huge fan supplied, the house is painted a dark colour & thus absorbs heat, also it must lack insulation to keep heat out and there's no high level ventilation. Once it's hot it's impossible to cool down, we couldn't sleep and had to have the door open and lie under cold wet towels, we had no sleep for two days and cancelled our third day. Another reason that we couldn't sleep was that the water pump thuds constantly throughout the day & night. (we tried earplugs but even this didn't solve the problem) Jon tried to fix this but it remained a problem. I think that the owners need to spend a night in this place to see what it is actually like for guests. By the time that we left we got the impression that the hosts had tired of us & were thinking that the casito wasn't worth the trouble of hiring out. My husband & I both felt that we were seen as a nuisance for daring to question the conditions.
Just what i was looking for. Such a wonderfull place. I enjoyed every minute of my stay! Will definetly be returning !
Awesome little casita near to playa hermosa. You'll be out of the rush and noise of Jaco, but can easily access it by car if you wish. Hermosa is surfer town, and there are a few restaurants and a mini-grocery store there to meet your needs. It's about a 10min walk down to the beach and restaurant area.
The casita itself is simple, but has a good feel to it with nice, high ceilings. No, a/c, but the fan makes that a non-issue if you place it strategically within the room. Also, it's super chill/quiet/private as it is the sole casita on the same property as a house (that was vacant when I was there).
The hotel is next door and you can use wi-fi there if you need (it was really unreliable in the actual casita).
Rachelle is a really accommodating host, and she'll help you out with info, hike suggestions, food needs, etc.
A good deal overall and a location I'd recommend.
Very good place to stay the best price/ quality relationship yet. Very nice hosts and staff. I strongly recomend it.
The casita was so sweet, just as the add displayed. Due to personal circumstances, I cancelled my stay with Rachelle after one night. Since I did not have a device to access internet, Rachelle offered to cancel via airbnb.com for me. This was very helpful. Playa Hermosa is a lovely town with many friendly people, Rachelle included. I would love to visit again sometime.
The pool is great, and the Casita is what you'd expect from a cheap room near the hotel. I knew there was no aircon. which was fine with me, but the noise from the road so close, a peak hours morning and night is difficult. Otherwise its a great little Casita.
We spent two days in the casita at the beginning of our trip and it was perfect. Very basic but nice and the fan kept the room cool even without ac. We were able to enjoy lovely, inexpensive breakfasts by the pool next door at las brisas and free wifi. The best part was how friendly Rachelle and family were with helpful hints and rides to the beach. Thanks guys!

Jon and I manage a small hotel and manage several houses in the Playa Hermosa/Jaco area. We live in a Pura Vida bubble, why not come visit??
The surroundings are beautiful, the food is full of flavor and the surf is exciting!!
