The Piedmont Cottage is a modern take on a classic cottage, which will provide you with a personal touch & economical alternative to staying in a hotel/motel in the city. Located directly across the street from the Historic Peninsula Park Rose Garden, and minutes to Downtown Portland, this open, light-filled, urban space is fully furnished with everything you need whether you are visiting PDX for a few days or for an extended stay. We designed the cottage to be a tranquil, hip, meditative, efficient, green friendly environment, which combines both comfort & practicality in its incredible 300 sq footprint. Though it is technically a studio (one room) the extra 70 square foot sleeping loft, vaulted 14 foot ceilings and private bath combine to make the space feel much larger than it is --- it is also a completely separate & standalone building.

This was my first stay in an airbnb. travelling with my father. The place was awesome. cool photos on the walls. actual fancy soaps, not just hotel bars. a little oasis to hide away from the city. the location was close to cool bars and everything i came to Portland to see. fully recommend to anyone needing a short term home in Portland.I would love to go back when it is not raining. not sure that ever happens.
Quiet, comfortable, cozy cottage. Approx. 15 minute walk to yellow line MAX station and grocery store.
Our stay at the cottage was so wonderful! The loft bed was very comfortable, and the overall size of the cottage accommodated the three of us perfectly. It was very pleasant to have the kitchen amenities too, for the mornings we wanted to have coffee and breakfast at home. The walk to the bus stop leading to downtown Portland was only a few minutes away by foot- very convenient! If you are looking for a peaceful getaway while visiting the great city of Portland, look no further than Peidmont Cottage!
My boyfriend and I just returned back to the east coast after the most amazing stay at Heather and Topher's Piedmont Cottage.
The cottage was absolutely perfect. Everything from the hiking guide books (Table Mountain was our favorite ;) to the incredibly comfortable bed and linens, we truly felt spoiled! The location of the cottage was also perfect. We got to know NE Alberta Ave really well and had some amazing eats at Bollywood Theater, Salt & Straw and Petite Provence. When we weren't eating our way through Portland, we did day trips to the coast, the Columbia River Gorge, and Mt. Hood. The provided guide books and magazines helped us plan some special days outside the city.
Heather and Topher provided us with an incredibly warm and hospitable home away from home. The Piedmont Cottage is the perfect home base for any type of traveler looking to explore Portland and the surrounding area.
We are already counting down the days until we can go back!
Heather & Topher (and the rest of the crew) were excellent hosts! Though we were only able to briefly meet them the first day before they went out of town, they made sure to let us know that local resources were still available if needed and made sure that we were oriented and had all our questions answered. They even provided both coffee and wine for our stay! The Piedmont Cottage was beautiful and just what the 3 of us needed and the Zen garden was awesome! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to return to Portlandia in the near future!
The cottage was incredible! It managed to be both stylish and comfy. The courtyard was such a nice touch. It was awesome to open both doors and hear the fountain. We had everything we needed to make coffee and prepare simple meals. There is a great market a few blocks away. Having an amazing rose garden just across the street was delightful. The neighborhood is cool, and there was plenty of street parking. I felt like the location was great-we were never far from the places we wanted to go. Heather and Topher were great hosts. They were super friendly and had lots of suggestions for things to do. Communication was excellent before and throughout our stay. I'd definitely stay here again and would recommend it over and over. Well done!!!
The most perfect place to be! Heather and Topher are awesome and the cottage is super comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a great spot. Worked out perfectly for me, my husband and our four year old daughter. Highly recommended!
Heather, Topher, and Stella were wonderful hosts. Heather responded quickly to my emails and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We had a long day of travel our first night and Topher was kind enough to bring us some snacks and fresh fruit when most of the restaurants in the area were closed. They gave us great suggestions to places to eat and things to do. Our son Miles loved playing with Stella and keeps asking when we're going back to visit! Accommodations were perfect for our little family and we spent a lot of time in their zen-like garden. Everything was in bloom. They put fresh flowers in our cottage which was a nice touch. We tried to use the tandem bike, but we had difficulty adjusting it so we rented bikes downtown. Definitely a must if the weather allows! Thanks guys! We'll be back. ;)
Piedmont Cottage was such a pleasure to stay in! The back yard setting is magical and inviting, as well as being an inspiring design. The cottage was also thoughtfully designed, very comfortable and well-appointed, and the location convenient. We enjoyed meeting the whole lovely family, and felt welcomed and appreciated. The "Solid Gold" tandem bike was a huge plus for us as we adventured and explored all of Portland - not for the faint of heart! ;-) We will definitely stay here in the future and highly recommend the Piedmont Cottage to anyone heading to Portland. Thank you McGarry family! You ROCK!
We had a great stay at Piedmont Cottage in Portland! The cottage is really nice and equipped with everything you need for a short stay.
Although we didn't get to meet the hosts they had everything ready according to the description for us when we arrived. All in all an awesome place to stay if you decide to visit the wonderful city of Portland! Much better than a hotel!
