Want to stay in a quiet, private getaway in the city without spending a fortune & without giving up accessibility & nearby access to some of Portlandia's hottest spots?
The Piedmont Cottage is a modern take on a classic cottage, which will provide you with a personal touch & economical alternative to staying in a hotel/motel in the city. Located directly across the street from the Historic Peninsula Park Rose Garden, and minutes to Downtown Portland, this open, light-filled, urban space is fully furnished with everything you need whether you are visiting PDX for a few days or for an extended stay.
We designed the cottage to be a tranquil, hip, meditative, efficient, green friendly environment, which combines both comfort & practicality in its incredible 300 sq footprint. Though it is technically a studio (one room) the extra 70 square foot sleeping loft, vaulted 14 foot ceilings and private bath combine to make the space feel much larger than it is --- it is also a completely separate & standalone building.

Piedmont Cottage was the perfect pad in Portland -- we didn't want to leave! Cozy and quiet, the custom-built cabin was a quiet respite during our "girls weekend" trip and had all the amenities we could want on hand (our hosts, Heather and Toph, even had a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir, PNW chocolate, and a fresh bag of Stumptown coffee beans waiting for us when we arrived!). Being located right at Peninsula Park could not have been more ideal -- its quiet environment, lovely manicured walkways and hedgerows, and close proximity to Mississippi and Alberta neighborhoods, plus only a few blocks from the entrance to the 5. Can't wait to get back!
We had a lovely 2 night stay in your cottage. Perfect for a couple. Thank you for your prompt replies and accommodating us on such short notice! We wish the roses were in bloom while we were there, but we did get the gorgeous magnolia tree in full bloom in the front yard! Thanks again!
The cottage is absolutely wonderful. I cannot believe how large it felt in there for such little square footage! My mother actually stayed here while visiting Oregon because she wanted to experience a tiny house. However, the place has a queen bed and a good sized futon. The bathroom is very nice as well. I would recommend staying here!
We loved our stay at the cottage. It was cozy, and warm and had everything we needed and more. We were there in February, so the backyard was not totally in bloom yet, but I would love to go back and visit when it's summer and really get to enjoy the back patio. Thanks McGarry family!
This was our first Air BnB experience. We had no idea what to expect, and we couldn't have imagined it any better! Heather & Topher were great hosts, with many suggestions for places to experience in the city. Although we were on vacation, it felt very much like being at home. The cottage was a very comfortable and relaxing place to go back to after a full day of exploring Portland. We were out and about most of the time, but the times we did see Heather, Topher, and family, conversation was great. Very hospitable and welcoming experience. We look forward to visiting again.
Piedmont cottage was everything we expected and we loved staying in a tiny home! The kitchen was fully-functional, the bed was super comfy, and they even let us borrow the tandem bicycle for a tour of Portland. The location was perfect, plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance. Topher had great recommendations. I would highly recommend staying here.
Everything was as the owners said it would be, and better! The host that I met, Topher, was friendly and helpful. The neighborhood, including the beautiful park across the street, was great, with a New Seasons market within walking distance. The beautiful little cottage was cozy, clean, and comfortable. Impressively well designed and appointed. I felt right at home.
We are self described lovers of life, fun, travel, art, music, gardening, food, wine, bikes & adventure! Together with our daughters Stella & Maddi, we try to live each day to its fullest with the understanding that life is short.....so enjoy it!
We have extensively traveled in South America, Central America, North America & Europe & we have toured as percussionists with MarchFourth Marching Band in many of those places as well. We love that we have been able to create a place now that we are settling in as a family where travelers can come visit us & share their vacations with us. We truly love hosting & our dream is to build more cottages in Portland, the city we love, call home & we always come back to, no matter how far away we range.
We have been told we are laid back, generous hosts & we will be able to give you many spot on recommendations in the city or in the region as we have lived in & explored this area for over 20 years. We love to share our insider knowledge of the quirky, community spirited, eco-minded "Portlandia" that everyone is talking about.
We absolutely love where we are located in the city directly across from Peninsula park with easy access to I-5, public transportation, bike routes & the trendy Mississippi & Alberta Arts districts. We hope you will join us & share the space we have created for your enjoyment.
