The Space

My very comfortable log home is surrounded by woods. Outside every window there is a beautiful view of trees. Behind the house are trails to cool old cemeteries and lovely streams. It is conveniently located on a main route only 5 miles from Amherst center.
The suite consists of 2 rooms and a full bath. One room is a bedroom with a double bed. The other is a sitting room with a thick very comfortable futon couch that folds out to a double bed. It also has has a tv with Directv and an extensive eclectic library. There is a full bath with a great shower and a jacuzzi tub. The suite is on the entire second floor making it completely private.
Downstairs there is full access to the living room, with pellet stove and large screen tv, to the kitchen, and to a screened in porch. There is also a washer/dryer, treadmill, and WiFi.
I have a very shy cat, Stanle, who likes to sleep on top of the pellet stove. ME?! I am not at all shy, but can absolutely give you all the privacy you may desire.

Check In
  • Jill's place is beautiful with the whole upper floor available to us. The beds were comfortable, and the place was clean. The best thing about staying here, however, was Jill's hospitality and cheerful demeanor. We were in the area visiting Amherst on a college tour, and my daughter now feels like she has a grandma in this area if she ends up getting in to Amherst!

  • We had a lovely stay with Jill and Stanley the cat. Jill was a warm host, making sure we had our coffee cups filled in the morning, engaged with exciting stories ranging from civil rights to life in the 1960s in SF, and ready to start our day with suggestions for local hiking trails and book recommendations! If you're looking for an engaging hostess and beautiful log cabin to stay in, this is your place! We stayed here to attend a conference for the weekend and loved our morning conversations with Jill, gearing us up for the day! Thanks so much Jill!

  • If you have to be snowbound, this snug cabin is the place to be. Jill is a warm and welcoming hostess, sharing her kitchen and living room - with pellet stove - as well as the upstairs suite. We discovered we are both "Castle" fans and watched a "Castle" marathon one night as well as the Olympics ice skating events. We shared a delicious chicken and pasta dinner provided by Jill on my arrival. Only a 5 mile trip down to Amherst center.

  • I found Jill to be very hospitable for my weekend stay. I was at a weekend retreat nearby from 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night and was pleased to have the upstairs bed & bath and Jill's greetings coming and going. ;-)

  • Jill is a ten star host! Jill is the most friendly - easy going person to stay with. We truly loved spending time with her talking. She was unbelievably sweet to us and our son. Her log cabin is truly authentic complete with the most fabulous pellet stove in the main room. The bed in the upstairs bedroom was delicious and made for a great night sleep. Everything was just perfect! Looking forward to spending more time with Jill in the future :)

  • We loved staying with Jill in her sweet log cabin. She was really welcoming and hospitable- a perfect host- and gave us a great dinner recommendation. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and private. The location is very convenient (5 minutes drive from Amherst), easy to find, and peaceful. We would definitely stay again!

  • We stayed with Jill for a wedding we were attending last weekend. Jill was an amazing host. It was like staying with family!

  • Jill is a wonderful hostess! The upper floor of her log cabin was comfortably set up for us upon our arrival - a bedroom, a bathroom, plus a second bedroom/living room. She was also generous in sharing her downstairs space including a well equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and computer area. Jill is social and invited us to spend time with her in her living area for movies/etc., but also respected our private time. The home is near hiking trails and offers a refreshing pool to cool off in afterwards. Thank you for a great stay Jill!

I am new to airbnb, but not to inviting people to stay in my home! I am a retired teacher with many interests. I am originally from Idaho and so feel very comfortable in my log home in the woods. I love to travel and meet new people. You would be most comfortable and most welcome in my home!
