San is a welcoming and helpful host! She always made sure we were comfortable and taken care of, and we still had plenty of time for our own personal space. She provided great suggestions for places to eat and see around the area. The place was cozy and had an amazing lakeside view of the sunset. Plenty of trees around for private setting in nature. The hot tub is a nice touch for a relaxing getaway. We would definitely visit again!
San was a generous and gracious host. The house is beautiful, great view of the frozen lake with a cozy fireplace a tv with cable and netflix. we had the entire first floor, including full use of the kitchen; we really enjoyed cooking dinner and eating breakfast with a view of the lake. San was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her while she gave us our space to enjoy family time. We were a little late arriving and she was accommodating of that.
She had great suggestions for things we could do, we really enjoyed her company. I hope to come back in the summer !
Our stay at San's was wonderful! Warm, welcome and completely rejuvenating! She is a truly wonderful host, ready and willing to make you feel at home and answer any questions you have along the way. She even shipped my boots back to me when I forgot them there!! Amazing! Her housemate, Amethyst, and little buddies Ricky and Lucy were also positively delightful. The house was totally charming, the room was cozy, bed was super comfy and the hot tub -- what a treat! San left us some lovely breakfast food for both mornings which we delighted in while looking out onto the lovely lake. Too a rowboat ride to enjoy the lovely fall scenery. We really appreciated all the lovely little touches (ex: handmade map of the area with highlights pointed out, detailed Instructions on how to use the TV, etc.) Would highly recommend if you're looking to get away from it all while making some nice friends along the way :)
San welcomed us when we arrive and her sweet dogs did too. The day we arrived was raw and rainy, San offered us something to drink just as soon as we arrived. She asked us some questions about our plans then offered some great suggestions about how we could make the most of our time there. She was very helpful and sweet. It was a very nice stay, although a bit short.
San is a GREAT host!
Not only is she very generous and friendly, she also knows the area very well and can recommend the best places to visit. The place is gorgeous and is highly recommended during the foliage.
I enjoyed my stay a lot and if possible, would love to come back. Maybe next year? :)
We had a very good time at San’s cottage. We stayed 3 nights during Columbus Day weekend. San is a great host: friendly, helpful and hospitable. We were a little nervous about having to share the place with the owner but San and her housemate are so discreet and respectful that it was not a problem at all. They are both very generous: we could help ourselves (fruits, bagels, cereals, milk, cookies, etc.), they kindly shared their food with us. On Saturday’s night, San’s housemate let us pick up vegetables in her garden (cherry tomatoes and lettuce). It was delicious. We cook diner on Saturday and Sunday: it was so convenient to be able to use pots and pans, barbecue, etc.
This place is perfect to host 2 people. For the four of us, it was not that convenient: as the kids go to sleep earlier than us we wanted them to stay in the separate bedroom so my husband and I had to sleep on the sofa, in the middle of the living room. It was not very comfortable but we knew it (the description of the place was very accurate). And San was very careful not to make noise when she woke up before us.
We used the kayaks, the boat and the hot tub (in the cold night, looking at the stars!). The view on the lake is beautiful: the lake was like a mirror in the morning and in the night, the sunset was gorgeous.
The cottage is conveniently located. On Saturday morning, we went on top of Mt Philo: it’s not really a hike, it’s more like a walk but it gives a beautiful view on the Champlain Lake. We ate in Vergennes at a place recommended by San and in the afternoon we went to the Shelburne Museum. It was great. On Sunday, we went to Burlington, we rented bikes and did bike for about 20 miles on the Burlington Bike Path and Causeway. Again, it was great … except that the bikes were of really poor quality (don’t go to Local Motion to rent bikes!). On Monday, we headed to Huntington to hike: we went on top of Camel’s Hump. The 3 miles trail to get to the top was not that easy (especially after the biking the day before) but it was worth doing it: the view was absolutely wonderful.
We drove back home (Boston) tired but so happy. We all enjoyed our stay. The kids (8 and 9 years old) had a good time too (they loved to play with the dogs!).
Thanks San and Amethyst for your hospitality!
Thanks a lot San, you really are a wonderful host! The place is lovely, 2 days was not enough!
Easy going musician, I also teach music in a public school. I lead a casual, natural lifestyle. I am friendly and outgoing, yet I respect privacy and want my guests to feel comfortable and autonomous.
I am happy to help you create a wonderful Vermont experience, including suggesting some great bike trips.
I am a film buff--and have a 5x7 foot movie screen and projector, in case you're into a small "event!" I love talking movies and tv shows like Mad Men, Game of Thrones, and Breaking Bad, for example.
I am also an amateur gardener, currently raising chickens for eggs, and hanging out with the frogs at my homemade little frog pond.
