Ideal for a family or group of friends who want to enjoy nearby San Martin Park, the bars and restaurants of Aristedes Villanueva or quick access to the centre of Mendoza our comfortable four bedroom, two bathroom house also has a pleasantly, green back yard for barbeques.
Location is excellent, close to a large park with a lake, also many restaurants, bars, and has a supermarket, greengrocers, service station, banks, wineshop, ice-cream parlour within a three block radius. At the heart of the house is the master bedroom, accompanied by an en-suite bathroom and large walk-in closet, all of which can be closed off from the rest of the building should you wish privacy from accompanying friends or family. Another large bedroom is also equipped with a double bed, while there are three beds in the other two bedrooms. A well-lit spacious living room overlooks the Street and is located adjacent to the well-equipped kitchen.
Guests will have the entire house (apartment-like, built above a pharmacy) and exclusive access to an inner courtyard and a pleasant back-yard with bar-b-que facilities and a laundry with washing machine. There is cable TV and wi-fi internet.
Interaction with Guests
We usually give our guests a map and a run-down of where to find local goods and services. We can also give advice on tours, trekking, rock-climbing and mountaineering.
Location is ideal for visitors, in that all every day needs can be met within a two or three block radius, including banks, a supermarket, green grocers, wine stores, a health food shop and an excellent ice-cream parlour. It is also only a few blocks from the street of Aristedes Villanueva, Mendozas main wining and dining axis in the evenings, with a number of brew pubs, travel agents etc. It is also only two blocks from Mendoza's largest park, which is endowed with an artificial lake and is a magnet for locals to exercise or hang-out. The city centre is also within walking distance or a quick taxi or bus ride.
The house is a 20-30 min taxi ride from the airport (cost around $USD10) or 10-15mins from the bus terminal. It does not have off-street parking, but guests usually park on the well-lit and well transited street outside. Public transport is readily available by buses at stops within a block of the house or by using inexpensive taxis, which can be readily hailed on the street or called by phone (typically arriving within 5 mins)

Colin and Andrea were amazing! made us feel very conformable. The house was perfect for what we were looking for, it is located in a great location, a few minutes walk from Parque San Martin, from the bar/restourant area and supermarkets.
Colin and his wife were are very nice and helpful people. When we pointet out some things that were missing, they responded promptly.
Wonderful host. Colin made the coming and going very easy. We was very good briefing us about the house and the sights and services available in Mendoza. He even printed out our onward bus tickets and gave them to us as we departed. There were a few minor issues with the place but Colin was aware of these and had the repairs on his to-do-list. Highly recommended. Wonderful place and a great host. (And Mendoza is a great city too!)
This was perhaps the best Airbnb experience that I have had. The place was just as pictured and described and Mendoza is a fabulous place to spend a few days. Colin was a wonderful host. He gave detailed explanations about the house and Mendoza when we arrived, and even printed out our onward bus tickets for us when we left. I would highly recommend this place.
4 adultes and 4 children and we have been super comfortable in Colins apartment. We have really enjoyed our stay and Colin has been so réactive to answer all our questions and help us out. We have enjoyed a bbq in the courtyard and a great meal one evening in the nearby animated restaurant street. We took a bus into town easly and even walked a few times and the direct bus to the bus station is super helpful and economical. Great place.
Colin was very friendly upon our arrival and was waiting for us at the apartment. Although he lives a few blocks away, he was readily available the one time we needed his assistance (a circuit breaker had tripped shutting off all electricity to the apartment) and we texted him the What's App from an unsecured WiFi signal in the neighborhood. His apartment is on the second floor (US, first floor Europe) above a pharmacy. 4 bedrooms was far more than we needed. Excellent firm mattress for dbl bed in first bdrm. Living room and kitchen face onto a fairly busy street but the bedrooms are all towards the back courtyard which has high walls around it and lots of shade. The location is fine if you like to walk a bit to get to more downtown area (about a mile or a little more to central plaza) but there is a super Mercado only a block and a half a way and a quick stop shop, coffee bar right across the street. We think this apartment is good value for the price but wish that the furniture (other than excellent beds) had been a bit more comfortable and the maintenance of plumbing, while adequate, could be better. There were also things missing in the kitchen that surprised us (no salt but pre-ground black pepper), no toaster, no proper glass wine glasses (in Mendoza!), plastic plates, etc. We made do just fine but why not? Good natural light in living room, rest of the rooms a bit dark but no big deal. Oodles of closet space if that is a consideration. The air conditioner in the living room worked very well as did the one in the first dbl. bedroom. The older AC in the rear dbl bedroom with an extra TV was useless, horrible noise without cooling. Given the hot weather Mendoza was experiencing in mid-Feb that meant we did not choose to use the back bedroom with the TV. The back courtyard is really private and quiet and very desirable but cheap white plastic chairs were not very comfortable. Would suggest replacing them with inexpensive but better folding outdoor webbed chairs. There were a couple of heavy thunder-storms during our 4 days there and water did accumulate in the patio area of courtyard but one could still use it by moving away from it. WiFi signal was usable but not very strong, used it only in living room and dining room... this seems to be the norm in Argentina and Uruguay even at much more expensive places but we did have an excellent strong signal in Buenos Aires. No screens on windows, lots of security in the form of window bars where needed and three different locked doors to get through from street to apartment, this seems standard in Mendoza. Colin is a very good host and was really friendly and helpful when we needed to interact with him.
Thanks for your comments. We are fixing up a few of the details you mentioned, we've got a new super-comfortable lounge suite ordered and will replace the air conditioner in the back bedroom with a large, modern unit before next summer (it has cooled down now sufficiently in Mendoza that a-c is no longer necessary). We're also going to get a plumber to fix up the minor plumbing idiosyncracies. Sorry about the plastic plates - we've tried to keep the number of breakable ítems in the kitchen as low as possible as we have quite a few guests with small children and consider that they could be a safety issue.
Sensational flat. Expansive, and nicely furnished, on tree-lined street with delis, specialty cheese and olive stores, a stand where vegetables are delivered daily on horse cart, laundromat, kioscos, bakeries, restaurants and a superbly well-stocked, outsized super market all within 2 blocks. Four short blocks to trendy Aristedes Villanueva.
The street can be noisy mornings and afternoons, but no more than any other city neighborhood and double-plated windows soundproof most of it. There is always the quiet, brick-walled garden out back with a massive avocado tree offering abundant shade. We took coffee and cocktails there each day.
Colin? A star. As superb and gracious a host as one could desire. For starters, we were delayed 4 hours, yet, there he was, on the doorstep, literally, to greet us, then orient us with an abundance of literature, maps, suggestions and other generosities. I owe him more than one beer. Thanks, Mate.
I enjoy trekking, rock-climbing and mountaineering and have travelled to many parts of the world to undertake these activities, in particular I like the Himalayas, Karakoram and Andes. I also read a lot of modern literature and paint landscape in oils. I enjoy exotic foods, especially spicy Asian dishes, but when travelling a while I always start to miss the Argentine asado and Malbec red wine from Mendoza.
