Parking in DC is difficult for non-residents during the weekdays, but I have underground valet parking for $10 which is great! Street parking is free and abundant on the weekends. There's a two-hour limit for non-residents during the week almost everywhere in DC during the day FYI so be aware of that when bringing a car.
A large and beautiful outdoor pool and deck opens May 25th-Labor Day (the management charges a daily fee of $5 for the pool).
Restaurants within 6 blocks include American, Italian, Salvadorian, Ethiopian, Vegan bakeries, French Bakeries, Thai, Vietnamese, Cuban, Dominican, etc. etc. This neighborhood has a ridiculous ammount of amazing and diverse food and for reasonable prices!

The neighborhood is safe, has great bus and underground metro access, lots of shopping and restaurants. The building has great amenities. Pool for summer and grocery store, gym and dvd rental for cold winter days when you don't want to go anywhere :)
Yes! Very convenient. Bus stop is in front of building and goes everywhere you need to. Underground metro is 5 blocks away.
We had a great time at Geneva's place and she was a wonderful host. Because we drove in from out of town, it was super convenient to have a parking spot as finding a place on the street seemed next to impossible with a recent snow storm. The place is in a great location, not too far from the Columbia Heights metro, and within walking distance of Adam's Morgan (where we went our first night). I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.
Geneva has a great place and she was a very helpful and friendly host. The wireless worked well and the bed was comfortable. The Spring and 16th location is convenient for catching 16th St. buses going downtown and the Colombia heights metro is walkable. I would definitely recommend this room as I had a very positive experience!
I had a great stay at Geneva's apartment. Everything was as described. Clean, light-filled and cozy. Small touches like: bottled water, candies, toiletries and tea/coffee were especially appreciated and really show that Geneva cares about her guests. Check in went smoothly and Geneva was quick to answer all of my questions. Lastly, when there was a hot water issue, she immediately responded and had maintenance out to fix it within the hour. She even offered me a discount for the "inconvenience". I would't hesitate to recommend this apartment and Geneva to future airbnb visitors.
With all due respect but hosts like Geneva just badly influence the very
good experiences we had with Airbnb up to now.
My partner and I were supposed to stay at her place in DC for 3 nights. She
cancelled 4 days before our arrival. This was indeed unfortunate for us since we flew over from Europe
to find ourselves without a place to stay in Washington. Of course we
understood her problem, however the communication with her was
disrespectful from her side given the situation and she insisted we should
cancel the reservation instead of her, although it was entirely her fault.
Personally I regret that Geneva as a host did not manage on her own to
solve a problem which she caused. I would definitely not recommend her and
advise her that she should be more responsible towards her guests even in
such unexpected situations.
Of course my experience was very different than what was described above. I let Roxanna know with much advanced warning that my apartment was no longer available. I even suggested friend's places on Airbnb in my area for her to stay in. Rather than accept this immediately and find other arrangements she began harassing me and was verbally abusive. I subsequently asked Airbnb to handle her, and was told that they assisted her in finding other accommodations. I would not recommend welcoming Roxanna based on her communication and attitude. I have had nothing but positive experiences so far otherwise on Airbnb.
I stayed in Geneva's apartment for three weeks and I can say that it was undoubtedly a good place to spend that amount of time in. After staying in tiny LA and NY studios, Geneva's apartment sort of felt like a mansion. Basically, it's airy, spacious, light, neat and clean - which makes it quite appealing in my book. More pluses: good shower with lots of hot water, and the temperature in the apartment is always perfect. Even on the hottest, most humid of days, I felt no need to turn on the air conditioning. I see some people have commented on the amount of storage space, but I was able to give more or less all of my stuff a place, so it can't be that bad. Also: great location! I loved being this close to the park and at a convenient walking distance from the Columbia Heights station. Setting up a meeting for the key-swap went smoothly, and arranging my departure was even easier. The only thing I can really comment on - and this may well be a very personal thing - is that, despite all these obvious advantages, I did have trouble feeling really at home here. While I've felt right at home in other apartments, regardless of how long I stayed there, I could never shake the feeling of being a guest, here. It is clear how much Geneva cares about her home and wants to take care of it - which is a good thing, obviously...it wouldn't look the way it does if she didn't -, but it also means that she sets a very high standard (making sure you leave no crumbs, instant dish-washing,...). I always try to respect people's homes and the way they relate to it, so I was really focused on making sure it lived up to those standards..not just when I left, but also during my stay. Which may explain the feeling a little bit. Overall: nothing worth fretting about, really. It is an excellent place to stay.
Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough response. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I imagine I would easily relate to your sentiments regarding keeping the place clean. It's tricky having hundreds of people stay in ones home, as there are incredibly odd, funny, and not so funny messes people have left. The occasional chocolate smear on the couch, crumbs here and there, coffee grinds and whatever left behind is just part of living and eating without a dining table. Unfortunately, I've had a few guests leave the place in a bit of chaos, so I'm more anal now. You left the place spotless and I thank you so much! If you ever stay again, feel free to be a mess lol ;)
Geneva's place is exactly as advertised: calm, with lots of sunlight, you can see the trees of Rockcreek Park. The place is clean and convenient: everything works well. One very important point is an outstanding access to public transport: bus, metro. Within the building you've got a cleaner, a grocery, ... Many restaurants and shops at Columbia Heights (it takes you 10 minutes walking). Finally Geneva is a kind person, very patient and polite (+good French!). I have had a nice sejour in this place.
Room was as advertised, light filled, comfortable, clean and in a good location. The room overlooks the pool and has views toward the park That adds up to evening quiet, which is very nice in the urban environment. Saw a deer over the back fence one morning! The building is a DC landmark, maybe a bit long in the tooth now, but still well organised with services. The garage parking costs extra ($10), and allows only one in and out per day, but is convenient and safe. Overall, a very nice place to stay.
Geneva was incredibly nice and flexible and helpful. The apartment was clean, airy, and relaxing. The building was annoying to get into, unfortunately. A great deal at this price.
I'm glad you had a nice stay. I'm sorry you had trouble getting in. No one has had any problems before, nor have I. Typically people walk in without trouble, or dial 0000# to be let in by the security 24/7. Please let me know what trouble you had so I might make it easier for the next guest. Thanks!
The apartment was everything advertised & more. It was clean, comfortable, safe & in a great location. We has a wonderful time in DC. Thank you!
Great apartment that has a peaceful feel. It was perfect for a traveling couple and even a pair with one kid- big or small. Geneva was professional through our communications and always available if we needed her. If/When we need to do this again, I will see if Geneva has openings. .
