Our stay at Stalin Terrace was awesome! The photos don't do the view justice. Your balcony is perched atop a rock cliff above the crashing waves. The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed for our visit. Lorenza and her husband were great hosts and even shared some homemade limoncello with us. Vernazza was our favorite of the 5 Cinque Terre towns and was the best stay of our whole trip. We will definitely stay here again when we come back!
This was our first visit to the Cinque Terre. We loved the town of Vernazza! I think we were very fortunate to have been able to find availability at Stalin Terrace. As others have said, the view is incredible and cannot be appreciated by only pictures. Lorenza and her husband are passionate about their town and are genuinely happy to offer accomodations to visitors. We shared a Limoncello overlooking the sea from the gorgeous private terrace. The apartment itself is only one room, rather large, with a lovely window, and a cliff-hugging terrace only large enough for two chairs. It is literally carved into the side of the cliff, so it is a bit cave-like (but not claustrophobic). There is a small counter and sink with a few snacks, instant cappucinno and espresso and an electric pot for heating water. The bathroom is a toilet and square shower stall. There are some amenities there for your use (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, blowdryer). The hot water appears to be on a timer of about 12 minutes so keep this in mind if you have longer hair that needs to be washed. It takes about 10-15 minutes to reheat for another shower. This was the only issue I found and I was only aware it might be a problem because I read other reviews. The bed is VERY comfortable, on the firm side. Linens are clean. This is a simple apartment you enjoy for its views. Keep the door open at night and listen to the sea. The hike up all of the stairs to get to the apartment is not bad. Most rooms for rent are going to be up one of the narrow pathways leading from the town anyway; Stalin Terrace is higher than most. When you reach the top of the stairs, you enter a small vestibule which leads to Lorenza's apartment as well as another, then you go back outside and walk through an arbor of lemons and terraced flowers (I think Lorenza's husband is the gardener). There is a large terrace (not for your use) and then a tiny door that leads down into the apartment. I am glad to have stayed here and it was a pleasure meeting both Lorenza and her husband.
The view and location of this place are fantastic! The terrace has got to be the best one in all of Cinque Terre. The apartment itself is exactly like it looks in pictures - clean, spacious enough for two. The bathroom and shower were a little small, but we managed just fine. People that are coming in on the boats will look up at you in envy when they see you on this terrace - it is that great. Lorenza was also great with helping us get dinner reservations and telling us where things were. She literally opened the window and called down to the servers at Restaurante Belforte (which I would also recommend) and asked for a great table on the tower. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Vernazza.
Lovely room with an amazing view. Lorenza provided us with an iron on request and provided a heater when the weather turned chillier. We would recommend staying here! Thanks Lorenza!
This is undoubtably the best AirBnB in the entire Cinque Terre. We loved coming back to our "home" on the waterfront in the castle. It is spotlessly clean, has fantastic hosts, gorgeous views and when people see you on the only terrace that faces out to the sea from the castle wall you can see it on their faces that they are thinking: "How did they get to be there?" I would go back here again and again. We enjoyed the hiking, the food but most of all just relaxing on the terrace and enjoying the feel of having our own private place on the sea.
Host was nice (although English was a bit lacking) but you're in Italy so that is to be expected of course. The location of the room was amazing.. best view in Vernazza. I only have 2 complaints. 1)There was no heat in the room and it was freezing/raining the whole time we were there. I don't believe the ad for the room mentioned that there is no heat. 2) VERY limited hot water in the room. The first morning my husband had no hot water for his shower so we made it a point to take our showers at different times of the day the second day. My husband showered at night and I was going to shower in the morning. However, there was no hot water in the morning for me. Seems like we shared a hot water tank with the owner's unit. Simply put, if you stay in an airbnb unit, don't expect the luxuries or comforts you get from staying in a hotel. I think this will be our last attempt at using airbnb.
