Mille gracie, Massimo !
If you have a car, this will be a great place where you can have a beautiful view of hills and a small lake. Lovely room with comfortable bed! We also had a nice dinner with the host and his lovely daughter. That's one of our most memorable nights during our trip in Italy. Thanks and best wishes to the welcoming host and his daughter!
We never actually met Massimo as he was in the hospital when we arrived. However, we did meet his lovely daughter, Matilda, who went out of her way to be hospitable and paid our parking ticket for us. The accommodations are lovely (with real linen bedding... wonderful linen bedding) even though the room is part of an apartment with no private entrance and you had to walk into the hall to get to the bathroom. Since Massimo was in the hospital we had the place entirely to ourselves. Nice grounds, nicely appointed.
The listing was accurate and we enjoyed our stay. The room was absolutely lovely. We also took a cooking lesson with Massimo, which not only taught us some tricks, but also resulted in the best pasta and tiramisu we had during our whole trip! The only drawback is that you don't have access to the grounds, so if you are imagining relaxing outside, this may not be the spot for you.
We also let Massimo know that we were interested in renting bikes. He took care of everything for us and the bikes were waiting upon our arrival.
I would highly recommend this spot!
English review at the bottom
A perfect guest in a heavenly placed house! Very clean apartment, you'll need a car to get to the city center but you won't regret your choice: I've rarely seen such a panoramic place!
Massimo is very kind and will give you great advice on what to see in Bologna.
Try this place!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Massimo's charming, beautiful and comfortable home in the grassy hillside just a short drive from the city center of Bologna.
Out of our entire trip this was one of the most memorable experiences. Massimo is a wonderful host. He makes you feel at ease in his home, he gives you a respectful amount of privacy but is equally engaging and very hospitable. He offered to cook dinner for us the first night (and extra 15 euro and worth every bit of it!) and it was so delicious that we let him cook for us the 2nd night as well. Also, he let us help him prepare dinner the 2nd night and gave us a mini cooking lesson (we made homemade pasta!).
Everything is extremely clean. There is a really cute cat indoors but she doesn't enter the guest room area. I have bad cat allergies and I had no trouble whatsoever!
The bathroom is large and clean and the bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on - really!
All in all, Massimo is the perfect host and if you get the opportunity to visit you should.
*Make sure you ask Massimo to give you directions or take you to the best gelato place in Bologna! Nothing in Italy compares!
