This “Studio Ghibli-esque” Japanese-style hilltop house in Hofu City is ideal for a couple, a family and a group of people. The house overlooks the stunning Tonomi bay and beach. Guests can enjoy peaceful vacation in idyllic countryside.

5 minutes walk to Tonomi Beach, 8 minutes walk to JR Tonomi Station and 1 minute to Route 2

Super easy access to Yamaguchi City Hiroshima, and Fukuoka by train or car.

Cyclers, bike riders, a family with small kids and babies are also welcome to my house!

The space
I inherited this house from my grand parents, and over years I renovated some parts of the house such as shoji - Japanese washi paper sliding doors and walls.

PART 1: Private Sword Smithy Tour, 2 hours $395 (for a group)

Enjoy a private tour of a traditional Japanese sword smithy, hosted by Licensed Japanese Swordsmith Yasha Yukawa. He makes various swords and knives there. Observe Yasha at work with English language commentary directly from the craftsman. Then, guests will learn about the sacred art of sword making.

PART 2: Private Sword Appreciation Ceremony (at the House la Spada, 2 hours) $398

Enjoy an immersive and private appreciation of traditional Japanese swords. Yasha will explain about the beauty and artistry of the Japanese sword in this private structured session at the house; learning the correct handling of the sword and its cultural significance.
