This spacious, high-ceilinged one bedroom is in the heart of the Gold Coast! Surrounded by public transportation, it is the perfect, cosy home base for exploring Chicago.
This is a gorgeous one bedroom condo with spacious living room and high ceilings. Furnished with a full size bed and futon that turns into a second bed. There is one bathroom with a shower and loads of closet space. Complete with a full kitchen that has beautiful new granite counter tops. There is a coffee maker, microwave, and full fridge and freezer for your convenience. Coffee and tea amenities are provided for free. Instant oatmeal is there for breakfast. There is also a washer/dryer in unit, free of charge. Fresh towels and bed linens are provided.
This place is in an ideal location for any visitor! The Gold Coast neighborhood is known for the best shopping in Chicago: the Magnificent Mile and Water Tower Place. The Museum of Contemporary Art is right there as well. And the condo is surrounded by tasty eateries, bars, and cafes. The nightlife of Division and Rush Streets is minutes away too! The beach is within walking distance with a scenic lake front walking/bike path. The Hancock Tower a few blocks east offers arguably the best view of the city.
Getting around is a snap too! The apartment is conveniently located a few minutes' walk from the CTA Red (Chicago), Purple, and Brown (Chicago/Franklin) lines. The LaSalle bus stops right at the front door and the Chicago, Clark, Division, and State buses are all a block or two away. The downtown loop can be accessed in minutes by bus or train or even on foot.
The owners live in the immediate area and will be on hand if needed. It will be a pleasure to host you here!
Guests have private access to the whole apartment. There are no shared rooms.
I find that every guest is different in his or her preferences for contact. I will meet you in person to give you the keys. I like to text or message with guests throughout their stay to make sure everything is ok. I'm usually available in person. I welcome all questions during your stay; do not hesitate to get in touch. If something is not right, I will do my best to fix it while you're here!
The Gold Coast neighborhood is known for its tree lined streets, fantastic architecture, and great shopping. I love all of the fabulous restaurants and hip night life spots.
Public transportation is everywhere! The Red, Brown, and Purple lines are about a 5 minute walk away. The LaSalle bus stops right at the front door and the Clark, Division, State, and Chicago busses are all within a couple blocks too. It is so easy to get to the Loop (city center); you can even walk in about 20 minutes. There is no parking included and street parking is scarce in the neighborhood. However, there are multiple garages within two blocks of the apartment.

Katelyn is an incredibly gracious host. She is helpful and attentive without ever being intrusive. As other reviewers have stated, someone who gives airbnb a good name. Quick to respond and quite familiar with the area, she can offer you a bevy of suggestions if you are ever wondering where to go for dinner, coffee, or looking for sights to see. In addition to her hospitality the place is quite comfortable and cozy, a perfect little place for kicking up your feet and taking a nap in the late afternoon sun after a long day of walking all over the city. The place is very affordable compared to anything else in the area. The location is well situated within the city and a short distance from all of the city’s best features. Close to major public transportation, so you’ll have no need for a rental car when you stay here. An abundant diversity of cuisines are within walking distance and the endless sights are right there too. Great for someone who wants to be situated in the heart of the bustling city or for architecture buffs (like me and my girlfriend). Katelyn does an excellent job of keeping the place up and providing amenities that truly make you feel at home as well as welcome. Highly recommended!
Katelyn was great! Responsive and was at the apartment to welcome us to her place. We stayed for 4 days. Very clean and in a great location. When the wifi stopped working and she was out of town (thereby making it impossible for her to take a look at the router that was kept in her other, next door, apartment), she very kindly gave us a small refund to compensate us for the trouble. She sets a fine example of hospitality!!
Katelyn was a great host! Excellent and easy communication in booking and check in/out. The apartment is lovely--very clean and just like the pictures. We were two adults and two kids and all slept comfortably on the bed and futon. The noise from the street wasn't a problem, and the location of the apartment was perfect for accessing public transportation. The kitchen is also very well-equipped. I highly recommend this place!
Katelyn's apartment is in an amazing location -- walking distance from Old Town, River North, Lincoln Park, the Gold Coast, and the Mag Mile. It was so convenient! The apartment itself is nice -- very clean, well-stocked with linens and dishes, high ceilings, comfortable bed, good wi-fi, and nice wood floors. The only thing is that the apartment is a bit older than it appears in the photos, and the bedroom can get a bit cold in the winter because the windows are a bit cracked. But if you leave the bedroom door open, the heat gets in there.
Katelyn and Tom were super helpful -- texting/emailing reminders and helpful tips, meeting us when we arrived to go over things, and generally being very responsive. I say 4-5 stars for sure!
I think places like Katelyn's are the ones that give AirBnB a good reputation. Katelyn was very communicative prior to and during check-in. She met me at the door with the keys and gave me a quick tour of the condo. I felt 100% at home immediately. House rules were clearly laid out, guest book and guidebook on the counter. Place was very clean and cozy. WiFi was fast and reliable.
Don't pay extra to stay in a hotel, surrounded by tourists and staff, when you can stay in a home. I think this place is really ideal for long-term stays. It has everything you need to be totally comfortable. The kitchen was fully functional and I really appreciated the selection of coffee and teas. Bathroom was clean and showers were hot. Plenty of clean towels plus in-unit washer & dryer. I didn't even touch the giant walk-in closet. Very centralized location. I wish I were staying longer.
I would give the building a very high walk score. I walked to get groceries, go to River North, go to the loop, etc. $8 taxi ride from Wicker Park in traffic. $6 taxi to the loop. Very close to everything. There isn't too much directly outside the condo, but you're a short walk away from several major intersections. You can hear cars from inside, but the traffic noise did not bother my sleeping one bit.
There was a DVD player and selection of Books & DVDs, but no cable TV. Katelyn's condo has been beautifully maintained and updated, but the common areas of the building seem to be a bit aged. These things didn't bother me.
I definitely hope I have the chance to come back and stay in Katelyn's condo again. Hopefully in a warmer season to take advantage of the nearby lakefront. 5 out of 5 stars!
We enjoyed this beautiful apartment located 5 minutes walking to magnificent mile or to the train 5 minutes to the amazing shopping center in state street.
The apartment has all you need for vacation and Katelyn is always ready to assist you .
It is highly recommended for vacation in Chicago.
Kateyln was a gracious host - very accommodating! The apartment is beautiful - spacious, high ceilings, huge closets. Lovely! It is located very close to the loop, yummy restaurants such as Karyn's Cooked, Fabcakes and Yolk, and even closer to the Newberry Library, which is a must for every tourist!
Katelyn met us at the door with keys to the condo and was very helpful with transportation and directions. The condo itself was clean and beautifully decorated. We were within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping. It was helpful to be able to cook meals and to do laundry, and the shower always had plenty of hot water! We would love to stay here again!
We were very comfortable in this conveniently located apartment and Katelyn was great to work with. She was very available for questions and when we asked for a second set of keys...no problem! It is located on a busy Chicago Street, so earplugs are helpful if you are sensitive to noise.
