About this listing
My lovely 1-bedroom flat is on the 2nd floor with a large terrace directly overlooking the Grand Union Canal in Maida Vale. This area is known as Little Venice with its waterways and houseboats and is amazingly peaceful, despite its central location.
The owner is a real foodie and the kitchen has been recently done up with wooden worktops, a great gas range and oven, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher and a sweet breakfast bar area. The large, south-facing living room has lovely dark wooden floorboards, a very comfortable king-size sofabed and bi-fold doors that open out to the 10m2 terrace, ideal for breakfast with the ducks, or barbeques and drinks in the evening sun!
The bathroom with shower/bathtub and heated towel-rail has been newly renovated, and the calm, white-painted bedroom boasts a stunning solid mahogany 19th-century French sleigh bed. There are drawers in the bedroom for your clothes and a small amount of hanging storage space.
I don't have a TV, but there's high-speed broadband internet with wifi and a 24" monitor too if you fancy a night in watching a film.
The whole flat will be yours during your stay.
Interaction with Guests
If I'm in town I'll be delighted to meet you in person, otherwise I'll organise the handover with my cleaner Liz or leave the keys at the friendly local pub for you to pick up. Otherwise, I'm always just a text, email or phone call away!
There are several great restaurants and pubs, as well as shops and supermarkets, within easy walking distance. Check out my Guidebook!
Famous Portobello Road market is 20 minutes' walk or a short cab ride away.
Canal boat tours along picturesque Regent's Canal leave every hour to world famous London Zoo and Camden Market.
Warwick Avenue station is less than 5 minutes walk away and Paddington Station (and the Heathrow Express) a 12-minute stroll along the canal. I'll also give you the numbers for the local discount taxi company. A black cab to or from central London should cost around £20 - £25.
Smoking is fine on the terrace, but please dispose of your cigarette butts and don't leave them in the plant pots - thanks!
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
What a great view and great location! We were so happy to find a place for our in-laws close to where we were within walking distance to some great restaurants - the place was nice and cosy and we'd definitely recommend. Kate was pleasant and easy to deal with and so helpful!
Booking with Kate was great and easy, she sent me a long email the week before we arrived with all the details about the flat (where to pick up the keys, how to enter and exit, the recycling and garbage area...). The flat was just like the pictures, and we made ourselves at home, relaxing after busy London sightseeing days. The location was great, 5 min to Warick Avenue tube or 10 minute walk along the canal to Paddington Station. We will definetly book again with Kate the next time we are in London.
The apartment was just as described and pictured. The location was lovely, and an easy walk to transportation. Kate was very easy to communicate with and accommodating. We were a family of three (my husband and 10 year-old were with me) and were quite comfortable. Also a great deal for pricey London!
Awesome apartment with a great private balcony overlooking the canal. Very chilled out location with good transport links. Apartment was very clean and tidy and the host was extremely helpful. I hope to be able to stay again and for longer in the future.
The apartment was lovely -- amazing view over the canal, and everything inside the apartment was high quality. We didn't meet Kate but she left keys for us nearby. Overall a great stay, would love to stay again!
We loved Kate's apartment, it was comfortable and quirky. Absolutely loved the balcony and the view over the Canal. Fantastic location! Easy to get around, and very peaceful. Would not hestiate to stay here again, and recommend this apartment highly.
Loved the friendly, personal welcome. Location was a new one for us -- who knew London had canals? Very picturesque. Easy walking distance to Tube, train and shops, etc. Comfortable bed. delightful balcony views.
