The apartment was great. Perfect location within easy reach of two metro lines that got us every place we wanted to go. One unsettling thing though marred the experience a bit. Pablo's picture accompanies his listing on AirBandB but that is somewhat misleading because Pablo's rental business owns this apartment. We did not meet Pablo. He told me up front that he would charge me an extra 30 Euros because we arrived from Paris after 5p.m. and "someone" would have to leave her family's new year's eve preparations to meet us. He sent a very nice woman to meet us, an employee, but I have the feeling that the 30 Euros went to Pablo's business and not to the woman who left her family. Pablo's employee presented us with a rental contract, in Spanish, to sign. I flatly refused. The contract was full of 30 Euro penalties should this or that condition not be met during our stay. If Pablo wants to collect the odd thirty pieces of silver for this and that he should mention these things explicitly in his house rules in his AirBandB ad and not attempt to extort a signature on a Spanish language rental contract, presented on arrival, to English speaking renters. This all seems to me to violate the spirit of the whole AirBandB experience.
Pablo was FANTASTIC. After a stressful week of packing and moving, we traveled for 20 hours only to have a wallet stolen as we transferred trains. (Word to the wise: if you're on an escalator and it stops suddenly, YOU'VE BEEN ROBBED. Especially if the people behind you don't keep walking up the steps...) Pablo and his girlfriend (wife? didn't catch the relationship) found us an internet cafe with a phone, helped us make some calls, and then waited outside to make sure everything turned out okay. They even covered the cost of the phone calls, since we didn't have any cash on us. They really went above and beyond and were super-responsive whenever we contacted them.
The apartment is cute and clean and well-supplied with cooking utensils, towels, etc; the only thing I didn't like about it was that it gets no direct sunlight, being an inside apartment, and it's really easy to sleep until 4pm every day. (Just ask my husband.) There's also a little dog in the building with a distinctive parrot-like squawk, but you only hear it once in the morning and once at night as it goes up and down the stairs. The neighborhood is pretty awesome; it seems like mostly young families and there's a big plaza just feet away from the front door with trees and playgrounds and lots of outdoor restaurants. There's also a movie theater only a block away, and a decent bookstore. We loved staying here.
I lived a beautiful experience! the Host was very kind and explained us everything about the city and the apartment very well. the apartment was in the centre of madrid in a beautiful street, it was comfortable and cleaned, and fully equiped! I hope to come back! cheers
Pablo was a very hospitable and honest man. The apartment is everything he said it would be - no surprises for the occupants. It's location was about 5-10 mins walk from various train station lines which was very very handy, and there was a plaza with a water fountain just 1 min away. The plaza had a lovely sitting area with restaurants and shops surrounding it making it easy to enjoy the spanish eating / drinking culture, and fill our cupboards right at our door-step. It was summer when we stayed, so the in-house mobile fan we had was necessary. I would recommend this apartment for a single / couple. I also bought a mobile USB internet dongle to keep us connected ;)
We stayed at Pablo's place whilst looking for more permanent accommodation. This cosy apartment was located in a very nice neighbourhood, next to a nice park with tapas bars as well as good restaurants on the main roads nearby. The apartment was very clean and overall experience was great. Thanks Pablo
Pablo had a great little apartment, in a really cool area frequented by locals rather than tourists. The apt. is literally around the corner from Plaza de Olavide, which is full of wonderful little cafes and terraces, as well as playgrounds for children. Also many nice shops, restaurants, and bars nearby. Reasonable walking distance to city center and museums, but also well-connected by metro and bus. Apartment was clean and met our expectations and needs. Pablo was also very accommodating re our arrival and departure. I would easily stay in this apartment again.
El apartamento está bien equipado pero no tiene encanto ninguno.
Es verdad que la zona es genial pero es un primero interior con un patio muy pequeño. Tendrás que salir a la calle para ver qué día hace.
We had an amzing experience in Madrid during the end of the year! the appartment was in a great location jut 3 minutes walk from the metro station and 20 minutes walk from the Grand Via. It was clean and cozy; and Pablo was flexible and comprehensive.
Great place to stay for a couple to visit Madrid. Also donùt miss the Burger House , a little restaurant nearby - amazinf food and friendly people.
El piso en que estuve me ha salvado de estar en un hotel, nestos primeros días de vivir en Madrid. Esta muy bien equipado y ubicado, y Pablo además fue muy gentil en su acogida inicial.
