About this listing
This lovely, peaceful bedroom is in a period house 10-15 mins. from Dublin's heart, 20 mins from the airport. There's easy access to Croke Park, 3 Arena, Bord Gais Energy Theatre ... & you've got the beach, parks, cool bars & chic restaurants nearby
Come and stay in our large, comfortable guest bedroom in leafy Clontarf where it's so quiet you'll think you're in the country when, in reality, you're just a stone's throw from downtown Dublin and all it has to offer. (*Please note| We also have a second bedroom which accommodates 1 - 3 persons — Fab en suite near City Centre & Sea and a single room – Single en suite near city centre. Also please note| Our house is NOT suitable for children under 5,)
Room features include | Private en suite shower room, king-size, sleep-inducing sleigh bed (to rest your weary bones after your travels!) TV/ radio, iron & ironing board, hairdryer and lots of space for your luggage.
The room is part of a spacious 4-bed Victorian red brick house with typically large reception rooms, one of which — the bay-windowed dining room — is where guests enjoy a continental-style breakfast at whatever time suits .... Guests are welcome to use this room during the day to make tea/coffee or simply relax and watch the world go by
The house itself is on a road of Victorian houses running perpendicular to the promenade which you can see from our front gate. Great for joggers and walkers (You can borrow the dog if you like!)
A mere 10 minutes is all it takes to ...access town by bus (the 130, which runs frequently) , the mainline train service to the West of Ireland, the beach, and some of the best parks in Dublin. We're also ideally located for sports fixtures and concerts. You can walk to Croke Park (where the national games are played. (This is also the venue for concerts, such as the upcoming Garth Brooks events) The Cricket grounds on Castle Ave are also a walk away as is the o2 concert venue. The Bord Gais Energy, Abbey, Peacock and Gate theatres are within easy reach by bus The city train line (the DART) is a 7-minute walk away, the Aviva stadium (for rugby and concerts is a 10min DART ride, while the airport is a 20 minute drive and Dublin Port is 10 minutes away.
If you don't want to venture into town there are lots of cafes, restaurants and a little theatre nearby to amuse and entertain you. Sample pub life in two of the best north city Dublin has to offer — (Harry Byrne's and The Yacht.) If you want something a little more historic you could go see Bram Stoker's house or the site of the famous Battle of Clontarf, which celebrates its millennium anniversary in 2014, take a trip to Howth or savour the delights of St. Anne's Park. And if golf is your thing you're definitely coming to the right place with a great inland club (Clontarf) and two smashing links courses (Royal Dublin and St. Anne's) right on our doorstep.
Why would you stay anyplace else!
Bedroom, dining room, garden and courtyard.
Interaction with Guests
We usually sit down with our guests over a cup of tea and a slice of cake when they arrive or if that's not possible we breakfast with them on Day 1 to give them any help we can in making their plans for their trip. But of course, if guests don't need help and prefer to take breakfast on their own this is perfectly fine too!
See description. What's not to love?! It's perfectly located between city and sea with easy access to so many facilities.
You won't get better in Dublin. The bus stop for town is a 2-min walk, ditto coming back. The service is excellent for the most part. (Sundays and Bank holidays it's less frequent) The DART (city train ) is a 7 min. walk from the house. Take the bus to the DART if you're feeling lazy and it's even quicker. Because we re so close to town a taxi will cost around €10 to get you to the heart of the action.

The listing was as pleasant as it said it would be! Jacinta and Patrick made us feel welcome from the get-go and helped us tremendously with getting around in Dublin. Breakfast was continental style and "help-yourself", which was fine with us. The townhouse was lovely Victorian style and we were able to park and use the internet for free. Great stay.
Jacinta is a warm and very helpful host. Her house is absolutely fantastic and well located near City centre. Self catering breakfast is so good for us.
Very nice host family and a location with bus lines in different directions. The room has a good bed and we liked the own bathroom.
My family and I are so thankful to have been hosted by such a great family. After flittering through Ireland for several days, we finally arrived in Dublin where we were grateful to have found FREE parking directly outside the 3 story home we were staying in.... Jacinta and her husband were extremely welcoming, allowing us an opportunity to sit and relax with tea while they gave us the "inside" scoop as to where to eat (family restaurant directly down the street), bus tickets, Dublin tours, the do's and don'ts of Dublin etc .... The home is located 10 minutes from the City, with a bus pick up directly down the street... To cab into the city, cost an estimated 11-14 euro if needed. I would defiantly recommend staying here, as my family and I already have thoughts of returning.
Jacinta and Patrick were fantastic hosts, very helpful, and our room was just lovely! Bed was comfortable, shower was nice and hot, and breakfast was perfect. Easy access to the bus into Dublin too - lovely neighborhood. We sincerely enjoyed our stay and would happily visit again!
A gorgeous home, wonderful room, great shower, and fantastic breakfasts. If all AirB&B experiences were like this one, there would be no more hotels! Absolutely serene, sound-wise-- all I really heard from my rear-facing room was birdsong. Jacinta was a font of info about Dublin and the surrounding area, as well as transportation ( the 130 bus into Dublin center is just about a block away, and runs frequently). About 25 euro cab from the airport. I can hardly wait to return to Dublin and stay with Jacinta again. My only gripe is that this probably sets an impossibly high standard for other AirB&B stays!
Jacinta was a wonderful hostess. She was warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Her home is very lovely. The bedroom is immaculate and decorated very nicely. The breakfast room is beautiful with a large bay window looking out to her pretty front garden. The self serve breakfast is very nice, including a good assortment of fresh fruit along with many other healthy and tasty choices. The bus stop is very conveniently just down at the corner. We highly recommend staying here as everything was just perfect!

About the Host, Jacinta
I am a freelance journalist/publisher, married with two grown up sons. When we first moved into our house we kept adult students . Over the years we've hosted people from Italy, Spain, Iran, Germany, France, Austria. We've also had au pairs stay with us when our sons were young. It was a great experience, one we enjoyed very much. Some of our former house mates may even be looking at this page. If so... come and stay with us again guys. We'd love to see you!
What are the things I like and can't do without? Family, good friends/companionship, music (all sorts from classical to rock) books, cinema, radio (always on) and sports (I live with boys, say no more!)
I like travelling but not the tent and backpack variety. I am that person who takes the kitchen sink with her and if I forget it I acquire it en route. My favourite destination? St. Petersburg is magic, with Istanbul close behind but the best place of all is Co. Clare — my birthplace, on the west coast of Ireland.... Absolutely beautiful.
