Interaction with Guests
I will personally greet guests and also say good bye. I live in Chicago and will be staying near by, so if there are any issues, I can address them quickly. My brother and cousin live next door, so they will be around if guests have any questions. I also don't mind if guests shoot me text messages about anything. I love to text.
The neighborhood is very vibrant and lively. The streets are filled with murals, coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries and vintage shops. Pilsen is a very artsy place that attracts artists and people from all over. The nice thing about the neighborhood, is that it is very family oriented and filled with friendly locals. It is also still an affordable down to earth place, where you can expect to pay local prices for goods and foods.
The apartment is very conveniently located 2 blocks from the train. It is a ten minute train ride to downtown where guests can transfer to all other trains and basically get to any place in Chicago. It is also one block from 2 different bus stops and is easily accessible from both airports. It is also commuter friendly with bike paths and lots of people walking.
Other Things to Note
4th of July weekend is pretty awesome. Pilsen has been rated best neighborhood for fireworks in Chicago. Definitely a spectacle to see. There are block parties going on every other block. If fireworks are not your thing, then this might not be the neighborhood for you.
We take off our shoes in our home and ask guests to do the same. We keep our home very clean and we just ask that guests do the same. Do not knock on our neighbors door downstairs on 1st floor. He gets disturbed a lot because people knock on his door looking for our home. Just come up the stairs to second floor. He is actually a pretty cool, laid back guy, doesn't mind noise, but just hates getting up to answer the door.
Andrea was an amazing host! She communicated very thoroughly and when we arrived everything was perfect!! We felt right at home instantly the entire home is spotless! And everything is easy to find. The home is very spacey and beautiful and the couches are super comfortable and beds even better! It is down the street from the train and across from the pool!! Perfect stay! Perfect host! Perfect overall!!! Stay here without hesitation!
Andrea's apartment was nice and spacious! There's a cool upstairs loft bedroom without a door but still very private. Great light coming into the living room. She left us snacks and let us use some eggs for breakfast! The beds were comfy and clean. We didn't have time to explore the area but took Lyfts into downtown Chicago. What a great city and host!
This is a nice area in great proximity to the pink line train, and the home makes you feel like it is your own home. My girlfriend and I love Netflix and it was a great way to unwind after a long day. All in all it was perfect for us and I hope it is available next year when I come back as I would love to stay again.
After many weeks of fruitless searching for a nice two-bedroom place in Chicago, I stumbled upon Andrea's listing, and I was ecstatic. I was hosting a pizza-baking demo at the Nitecap Coffee Bar in the Pilsen neighborhood, but I needed a place for me & my friends to stay at. Luckily, Andrea's place was less than 4 blocks away, and it was beautiful. It was especially breathtaking to sit by the front windows at 6am Sunday to watch & hear the birds outside, and my friend loved sitting by the window while reading her Kindle. I also enjoyed being able to take a quiet, leisurely walk through the park & neighborhood that morning.
I should note that the upstairs does have a slightly noisy dehumidifier going at all times, as it does get a little stuffy at night, so I let my friends stay in the downstairs bedroom. (If, like me, you're used to sleeping with a fan on, then the dehumidifier sounds shouldn't impact your slumber much at all.) One benefit of the upstairs bedroom is that I apparently couldn't hear a 4th of July fireworks display in the park out front.
One of my friends noted that the streetlights shone very brightly through the living room windows, so future guests may want to refrain from sleeping on the couch at night. The actual bedrooms will be far more conducive for sleeping anyway. :)
Andrea provided one towel per guest, though it's probably good practice for all AirBnB travelers to bring a few towels of their own too. That would be handy, as the tub/shower area has wooden surfaces, so courteous guests will want to properly wipe down the walls after washing. The toilet was also slow to refill during my visit, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't manage.
The TV downstairs only has Netflix through a PS3, but the upstairs box does receive over-the-air broadcasts from many channels including WGN, though CBS couldn't be found. (Not a major complaint, though I do love to watch "CBS Sunday Morning" when I get the chance. :)
Andrea's friend Paco was kind to show us around when we arrived. Andrea also kindly arranged for a parking sticker for my vehicle.
This was my first stay at a AirBnB home, and it left a very positive impression on me. Andrea's place would be a fine place to consider should I ever need to stay in Pilsen once again.
Andreas' place was great. Very close to the train station and 18th St (which is worth having some food there -awesome). Everything was clean and tidy. Her brother Mario, couldn't have been more helpful. It was a lovely place to stay.

I love dance, art, upcycling, biking, traveling and meeting new people. I have a wonderful husband with whom we have 3 wonderful girls. Were just out to explore the world and spread a little joy in the process. :) We also loving sharing our city, Chicago, with those visiting.
