Description: Single Occupancy Only
The Sunrise Room has a very comfortable pillow-top queen size bed with 100% cotton sheets, a vintage reading chair, nightstands, and lamps. This bright room with a 15' ceiling and exposed brick walls has beautiful silk curtains, a mirror, a remote controlled ceiling fan, and a space heater for additional comfort during cooler months. The shared bathroom has excellent water pressure and the apartment is equipped with central heating and air conditioning.
My apartment offers the perfect home base whether you are doing an internship, apartment hunting, consulting a few times a month, doing a medical rotation, or just in need of a lovely place for a personal retreat. I can accommodate stay durations of varying lengths. I have had guests who stayed for a few days, a few weeks, or for more than a month. I have two private bedrooms and one semiprivate loft space available for rent. The full bathroom and dining area are shared and guests may use the microwave and the refrigerator in the kitchen. My apartment has central heat and AC, ceiling fans, wireless Internet, and a lending library. There is a coin operated laundry room in the building. I also provide an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, toothpaste, and body lotion. I am happy to accommodate guests with allergies to wool and feathers. Weekly housekeeping is included and I only use 100% cotton sheets and towels. I make my own organic house cleaning solutions with pure essential oils.
My flat is located near the Pink Line in the center of the Pilsen artist district. The neighborhood has a vibrant Hispanic community and is full of galleries, artist studios, and unique murals. Within walking distance of my apartment are great restaurants, grocery stores, taquerías, bars, thrift stores, and vintage fashion shops. The National Museum of Mexican Art and the Chicago Arts District are also close by. An open studio and gallery walk event takes place on the second Friday of each month and draws hundreds of people to the neighborhood to check out the art and nightlife. Pilsen is a pedestrian and bicycle friendly neighborhood. I find it to be very safe, but of course we are in a city and it is always good to be mindful of your surroundings when walking alone.
From my apartment you can easily walk or catch a bus or an elevated train to destinations like UIC, University Village, McCormick Center, the Medical District, and Downtown Chicago. The Pink Line is a short walk from my building and the 18th Street bus stops just down the block. Buy a CTA pass at the airport, Union Station, Currency Exchanges, select Jewel and Dominick's grocery stores, or in the CTA store. Activated on the first use, passes allow unlimited rides on city buses and trains for the specified duration. Please note that you cannot purchase a pass on the bus or at train stations. Without a pass, the fee is $2.25 per ride. Passes cost $5.75 for 1 day, $14 for 3 days, $23 for 7 days, $86 for 30 days. If you are driving, free street parking is generally available on Carpenter Street, 17th Street, and 16th Street. I also offer a private parking space behind my building for $20 a day.
When I was with Nicole it was very nice. The appartement in Chicago is beautiful, and everything is simple ! There is a lot of restaurant in this area. Nicole was very kind with me, and my last night she told me to come in his house because I was alone. She is very welcoming. Thank you so much for this week in Chicago !
Nicole's artist loft in Pilsen is wonderful, just as all the other reviewers say. She responded quickly to my request and provided all the details I needed to make my weekend quite pleasant.
I had a great time staying at Nicole's apartment in the Sunrise room. Very clean, a comfortable bed, and a nice kitchen. Nicole went out of her way to help me check in early.
The Pilsen neighbourhood is very interesting, with plenty of restaurants, and some great coffee shops and bars. There's plenty of public transport options to get you to other parts of Chicago.
I recommend staying at Nicole's place when you're in Chicago.
Nicole picked me up from the train and brought me to the loft. It's an amazing property with a great location. The bed is super comfy and facilitated deep, heavy sleep. The exposed brick wall is cool, but with the tall ceilings, it kept the place from feeling like a cave. The displayed art every where is an especially nice touch. The shower had plenty of super hot water with plenty of toiletries and towels and such (should I have needed them). The kitchen was well-stocked with most of the things that someone would need for the mornings, toaster, microwave, tea kettle, as well as the trimmings for your morning caffeine situation.
Nicole stayed in touch with me during my stay to ensure everything was okay. Really attentive and an amazing host. I felt like I had everything I needed, but she was a text away if I needed anything. Hope to stay with her again.
I loved the loft. It is a gorgeous place with vibrant colors that you'll never get tired of. It was clean as well. Since Nicole was traveling abroad, Mike took care of me during my stay. He was a wonderful host! He was very kind, caring and absolutely fun to talk to. He replied to my emails/inquiries through the website amazingly quickly (which helped me to a great extent as I was looking for a place to stay in Chicago at the last minute) and tried to make my stay as comfortable, pleasant and memorable as possible. Pilsen district is a dream place to stay if you are interested in art. I luckily happened to be there on the second Friday on which many galleries and artists' studios (which were a-couple-minute-walk from the loft) hold receptions in the evening and got to see interesting and fascinating works. I am a girl in my early 20's traveling on my own but never felt insecure while walking from the train station to the loft pretty late at night. There were plenty of bars and restaurants that serve tasty yet inexpensive food/drink around the loft. I am so glad I stayed there. Would love to come back!
Gorgeous place in a cool neighborhood and Nicole was incredibly helpful on logistics.
Nicole was an awesome host. She reply to my inquiry immediately. Booking and check-in arrangements were completed in minutes. She even picked me up and drop me off to the metro station.
The place is secure and in a friendly neighborhood. Best value in Chicago. I will definitely try to stay there again on my next visit.
Nicole Villeneuve was an excellent host! I loved the room and her artist loft was lovely. I was on an architectural trip and her place was very close to the site which was great. Thanks again Nicole and Micheal.
Unfamiliar with Chicago I am glad i experience a little bit of Pilsen! I only had about 24 hours...but staying at Nicole's place got me outside the city "proper" which lead to some great pictures of town, art gallery windows, a farmers market and I did enough walking to come across a great flea market!
My room was clean and comfortable! The water and covered drinking glass next to the bed is a great touch! Just my style!
I actually moved from this room to another as it was darker and quieter, what I needed! I felt safe and comfortable at this location as a single woman traveler. This is an easy going casual spot full of color.
Even though I didn't get the opportunity to meet Nicole, her house representative was very jovial and helpful.
Also very important...Nicole had an almost immediate response rate and for me that was crucial as i was booking within less than 24hours! I was so grateful it all worked out!!
Would recommend and stay again upon another visit to Chicago! Thanks again!
