Welcome to The Viewtopia! This beloved family getaway has been our personal vacation home since 2007, thoughtfully updated over the years, and filled with unforgettable “up north” memories. Now we’re excited to open our doors to you!
Lakefront Getaway in Birchwood, WI - Spacious 3BR/2BA ranch home (2,300 sq ft) that comfortably sleeps up to 8 guests and is located on 130 feet of prime Big Lake Chetac lakeshore—perfect for boating, fishing, waterskiing, kayaking, and more. Year-round fun with winter sports, nearby golf, trails, hunting, skiing, and easy public boat access.

Step into Viewtopia and enjoy wide-open spaces designed for comfort and convenience. The expansive breezeway leads to roomy living areas, plus a large laundry room and oversized mudroom with plenty of storage for all your outdoor gear. A full bathroom with a spacious shower and fresh towels is located just off the mudroom—perfect after a day of adventure.
Just off the mudroom is an oversized, fully stocked kitchen with newer appliances and everything you need to cook and gather with ease. Enjoy a Keurig and Mr. Coffee maker, plus plenty of cookware, dishes, and fun extras like a crock pot, waffle maker, blender, and more. The dining table seats six with additional seating at the island—and extra chairs available if needed—making it easy for everyone to enjoy meals together.
The main living room features stunning lake views through a large picture window and sliding door. With a queen sleeper sofa and plenty of cozy seating, it’s perfect for relaxing or gathering together. A dedicated workspace makes remote work easy, while the gas fireplace adds warmth and charm—ideal for unforgettable moments and photos by the hearth.
Step outside to an oversized lakefront deck with dining seating and Adirondack chairs—perfect for sunrise coffee and sunset views. Fire up the seasonal gas grill or gather by the lakeside fire pit with more Adirondack chairs for s’mores and unforgettable evenings. Extra chairs are available, and seasonal mosquito treatments are provided so you can relax and enjoy the outdoors comfortably.
Enjoy direct lake access with our private, seasonal, 28' x 4' dock, available spring through fall. Bring your own boat or rent a pontoon or fishing boat nearby and tie up right at the dock.
Relax on our lakeshore boathouse rooftop deck! It's the perfect spot for soaking up the sun, taking in the lake views, and gathering together to create lifelong memories!
Back inside the home, you'll find an extra living space - our fun-filled game room - that offers a cozy sofa, board and card games, Giant Connect Four, and a 55” TV for streaming on free high-speed Wi-Fi. Keep score on the chalkboard, enjoy a game of Up North Tic-Tac-Toe, or relax with a book from the Viewtopia Lending Library—take one or leave one to share the love of reading. Next to the game room, our guests will find a PAC-MAN Arcade game! Perfect entertainment on those rainy days or start your own family score tournament!
Just beyond the kitchen are three inviting bedrooms and a spacious main bathroom—perfect for families and groups. The home sleeps up to 8 guests and features a cozy lakeside queen room, a large bunk room ideal for kids or groups, and a beautiful primary lakeside bedroom with King bed and stunning lake views. The main bath offers double sinks and a tub/shower combo, stocked with towels and essentials. With plenty of storage, extra linens, and thoughtful touches throughout, you’ll drift off to peaceful Northwoods sounds and wake up refreshed to the call of the loons.
Convenient parking is available for up to three vehicles in the asphalt area beside the home, with more space for additional vehicles or trailers near the garage. Clearly marked areas make arrival easy. Please note the garage is not accessible, and we kindly ask guests to park only in designated spots to keep this shared area clear and stress-free.
To keep Viewtopia beautiful and comfortable, routine lawn care and seasonal pest control are scheduled throughout the year. While we try to avoid service during guest stays, weather can occasionally require brief visits—typically under 30 minutes. These quick outdoor services help ensure a pleasant, well-maintained getaway for you to enjoy.
Viewtopia is a welcoming retreat for guests of all ages, though child-specific items (cribs, high chairs, safety locks, etc.) are not provided—please bring what your family may need. The home is not ADA compliant and includes standard doorways and a single step into the main house. Located among neighboring homes, Viewtopia is intended for peaceful enjoyment, not parties. We kindly ask guests to keep noise at respectful levels and help us preserve this special place for everyone to enjoy.

Guest access
Guests enjoy full access to the main floor of Viewtopia, with the exception of a few owner closets and the basement. The setting is quiet, private, and peaceful. The garage is not accessible to guests at this time. Please avoid parking in front of garage doors.
Located on a scenic dirt/gravel road, Viewtopia offers a true Northwoods experience. Wildlife and insects are part of the natural setting, so we recommend bringing sunscreen and bug repellent to stay comfortable while enjoying the outdoors.
Other things to note
Early Spring/Late Fall/Winter stays:
*The dock will be pulled from the lake as the weather dictates.
*The BBQ grill may be stored and not available.
*In case of snow, the outdoor deck is not shoveled. A shovel will be provided for your use. The front path to the home will be shoveled prior to your arrival.
*When a significant snow occurs, the driveway will be plowed. You may need to move your vehicle so the plow can clear the whole area.
