The co-space is an intentional community of 20 young changemakers. We are home to driven undergraduate students, self-directed learners and experienced young professionals, ages 18-35, all living under one roof.

The space
THE HOME:

The co-space is a renovated 1920’s boarding home in the heart of State College. Unlike any other property in the region, it has been designed to support and encourage creativity, community, and innovation. Among other things, you will find indoor beehives, living walls, indoor rock climbing walls, and recording studios. The property has a wrap-around porch, perfect for enjoying warm evenings on.

** The co.space is an old home from the 1920's. We have done thorough renovations of the space but it still has it's unique quirks and character. We like to let folks know of this beforehand because the home is not a newly built hotel or apartment building.

THE GUEST ROOM:

Our guest room is located in the rear of the home, accessible through a ‘cave staircase’ near the back door by the kitchen (which goes upstairs, not down. These stairs are also quite steep so please be careful when climbing them). At the top of the stairs on the second floor, you’ll find the private bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom is 200 sqft and includes a twin daybed, pop-up trundle, desk and closet space. The room has plenty of space for a single visitor. If traveling with a partner, you can pop the trundle bed up for a second mattress, but please note that the two beds will fill up most of the room.

** Please note that our home is located in the heart of downtown State College. On certain weekends throughout the year, it may be noisy because of football weekends or parties nearby. If you are a light sleeper, this may not be the most ideal space for you.

THE RESIDENTS:

All residents of the co-space have been carefully selected through an application process to find those deeply committed to living in community and fully pursuing their changemaking journeys. Co-spacers have a wide-range of interests, including sustainability, entrepreneurship, innovation, healthy living. To learn more about some of our housemates, please visit our website at www-thecospace-com.

MEALS AND ACTIVITIES:

Every Sunday and Wednesday we join together for a house meal at 7pm. This is a time to reconnect as a family and invite community members into our home to share their journey with us. If you happen to be staying with us on one of these days, we would love for you to join us! We also have occasional events and activities in the home – such as house concerts or local meet-ups.

Guest access
As our guest, you’ll have full use of the kitchen and the basics of pots, pans, and dishes. The common areas are all accessible to guests, including the living rooms, dining room, and basement. We simply ask that guests not use the second and third floor where residents have their bedrooms.

Other things to note
As an intentional community, we ask that all potential guests please READ the House Rules to best understand what type of individuals we prefer to host in the home. When inquiring to book a stay in our guest room, we will ask you if you’ve read over all the House Rules.

Hi - I'm one of the founders of the co.space (www-thecospace-com) and am passionate about creating innovative physical spaces where people can create change and connect with others. The co.space is based in State College, PA and has 20 residents that live there year-round. The tenants have a variety of skills and interest - from sustainable agriculture to social entrepreneurship to community service - and are always eager to add another personality into the mix thanks to our airbnb guest room. Beyond the co.space, I'm involved in a variety of other startups and social ventures. Among the many things, I lead the student programming for a network of 70 universities around the american southeast who are committed to service and social change. I run a consulting company that delivers innovative workshops, retreats and presentations to companies around the country. And I operate a bubble ball soccer company - for when you just need a break from everything else :) Feel free to check out all of my projects at www-iamspud-com.
