My husband, a friend and I were in Laurel for a wedding and we had the pleasure to stay at “North Fork Getaway”
Hugh and Laura are the sweetest most generous people we have met. They greeted us to their home with open arms and wine!
They made our stay very comfortable, from the minute we drove up to their driveway we felt welcomed and at home.
They showed us around their beautiful grounds which included a magical hidden garden and amazing sunset views looking over a vineyard. The apartment is very clean and cozy, tastefully decorated with beautiful German steins. The beds were comfortable and they stocked the kitchen with coffee, milk, OJ and delicious butterscotch muffins.
This home is perfectly, walking distant to the beach, restaurant Cliff’s Elbow Too (one of the best steaks we have ever had) and Laurel Lake Vineyard.
Like one of the other reviewer said, don’t bother is a hotel room in the area, just come here and relax.
Hugh and Laura thanks a million for letting us stay in your home... we hope to see again soon. Julie, Jamie and Pat.
Laura and Hugh were wonderful hosts. The apartment is exactly as described and shown in the photos. Everything was super clean and tasteful, and we were greeted with lots of nice extras like local cider and muffins. We love this area, and would definitely like to benefit from Hugh's and Laura's warm hospitality again. Thank you!!!!
When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Laura and Hugh. They showed us around their beautiful home and property. The accommodations were immaculate and cozy. We relaxed around their lovely pool and walked a short block to their beach. Laura and Hugh were extremely hospitable and we would definitely recommend their home!
My friends and I spent an August weekend at this charming home and LOVED it! Hugh and Laura were incredibly friendly, gracious, and generous hosts. They welcomed us with some delicious chips&wine, and well as muffins&juice for breakfast. Their-fully stocked kitchen allowed us to cook-in for a few meals.
Our trio was able to visit Clovis Vineyard and Sherwood House Vineyards, and we enjoyed dinner at Cliff's Elbow Room in Jamesport. The rest of the time was spent mainly relaxing poolside, working on our tans. We had a blast! We didn't have a car but we were able to get by this weekend by walking and cabbing. That may not be ideal for everyone, as walking distances are typically 1+ miles.
What a treat this was for three city-girls! Thank you, Hugh and Laura, for a wonderful getaway, and for elevating the bar for BnB hosts! =)
We had a wonderful experience here. Hugh and Laura were wonderful and welcoming hosts who went beyond their normal duties as a host. The place is really wonderful in a beautiful scenic location, would definitely recommend!
I want to thank Hugh and Laura for welcoming us into their home and highly reccomend them for anyone looking for a getaway in the north fork area. The place is more beautiful than the pictures could show. They greeted my wife and I the day of arrival and even let us settle in earlier than expected (And they had wine and snacks waiting for us!!!) They were also helpful with planning out an itinerary and were always easy to get in touch with. The best part is as helpful as they are, they completely respect your privacy. Don't even bother with a hotel room in the area. Just come here and relax with your own apartment, pool and firepit!
This is a great place to stay during your time in the North Fork. The unit is semi-below ground but still has a lot of light. The hosts provided us with wine, bottled water as well as some munchies upon check-in which came in very handy as we arrived late at night. The property grounds, fire-pit and pool were behind our expectations - absolutely gorgeous and very private. I would highly recommend this place to stay as well as return myself.
My wife and I are life long travelers who look forward to sharing our greatest discovery, the North Fork of Long Island. Retired three years now, we have taken advantage of every opportunity to travel that crosses our path, traveling to Egypt, Jordan, the Galapagos Islands, Germany, Luxembourg, France, Amsterdam, Alaska, the South West, Canada, Costa Rica.... We have learned that experience is everything and we can't wait to share the North Fork experience with our guests.
Life is the people that you meet and all the experiences along the way.
