This was a great space in a lovely little town. It was conveniently located near the wineries and Love Lane (cute restaurants, etc) and was the perfect place to spend a long weekend. Hugh and his wife were incredible hosts and I look forward to making another trip to the area this summer!
We had a wonderful time at Hugh and Laura's home. The space was perfect for our group of four. They made us feel right at home and provided us great recommendations for restaurants and vineyards in the area. Thanks for your hospitality!
My girlfriends and I had a truly wonderful time in Laurel, not least because of our stay at Hugh and Laura's beautiful home! The apartment we stayed in (below Hugh and Laura's main home) was even better than expected and the garden and backyard around the house are just beautiful. It's a very peaceful area with a pool that we can't wait to try out next summer. It was so easy to buy fresh local produce and seafood and cook it at the apartment (the kitchen is great!) and Hugh and Laura were perfectly accommodating and wonderful to get to know. Really great hosts, and a beautiful, perfect place to stay! My friends and I all very highly recommend it.
Hugh and Laura were truly gracious hosts and genuinely really nice people! Their location is excellent. Beautiful sunset view,It's a short drive to the wineries, very close to Love Lane Kitchen (great for lunch/breakfast) and a short hop to The North Fork Table & Inn (great for dinner).
Hugh and Laura's home was delightful and cozy, and they were very gracious hosts. They left wine and snacks for us in the kitchen and set up an extra bed for us ahead of our arrival. They also offered helpful tips for activities to do in North Fork. Highly recommended! A great place for a relaxing weekend with friends.
Hugh and Laura were great - they answered all of our question very quickly in advance to ensure we had the right place, it was perfect, as advertised, and they were very helpful while we were there. They ensured it felt like "home". Great stay - we'd definitely come back again! -Erik
Loved staying here. All the comforts of home in a beautiful setting. The owners (living in the unit upstairs) were very welcoming and helpful. I recommend renting/bringing a car to make the most of North Fork.
I'm a bit of a hotel snob and Hugh and Laura's place exceeded my expectations! We were so comfortable the whole weekend and the space was perfect for my family. Everything was SO clean. They thought of everything from an iPod dock to an umbrella, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you need to get started. Having chips/salsa and muffins waiting for us was such a nice treat. The beds are comfy, soft blankets and fluffy towels, art studio a plus and the pool was outstanding with nice comfortable pool furniture and all the toys you'd need for a child. the landscaping and secret gardens were loved by my three yr old son who went 'on a hike' each morning. They have great taste and are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet....the type of people you'd want as next door neighbors. My son asked me today if we "could go back to the country house"! we absolutely plan on it!
Wow! What a wonderful 5 days we had here at Hugh and Laura's place. Their apartment is cosy, warm, inviting, nestled amongst beautiful scenery and stunning gardens full of wildlife.
However, the best thing about this place, and staying here too, is the hosts. Hugh and Laura were so welcoming and gracious, offering information if we wanted it yet fully aware of our personal space and privacy. We visited with our 18 month old daughter and they went above and beyond to clear room for her travel cot (a much larger room than she's used to in Brooklyn!) and provide toys which kept her amused for hours.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay from swimming in the pool, to butterfly and bunny spotting in the garden and visiting the local farm stands to sample all the local pies and produce. We have already recommended them to friends and have only been home 2 days! A truly superb stay, thank you both very much indeed.

My girlfriend and I ventured out to a long weekend out in Long Island over the 4th of July and were very pleased with our stay at Hugh and Laura's house. Upon arriving we were greeted with a bottle of local wine and salsa and chips (much needed after the drive in from New York City). We settled in, grabbed some groceries and cooked dinner on the grill. Hugh gave us great advice on the best vineyards to stop the next day by as well as some of the local places of interest.
We spent a day walking between the 4 closest vineyards. It was a little bit of a hike (they spread out along three miles from the house), but it provided us fantastic views of the Long Island countryside interspersed between our wine tastings. Of the closest wineries we recommend Jason's Vineyard where we were welcomed by the friendly staff with generous pours.
The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood and has beautifully manicured lawns and gardens. The apartment itself is quaint, clean, and fully stocked with everything you could need. The pool is the perfect ending to a hot day of wine tasting (and hiking). We took advantage of the fire pit and spent one evening roasting s'mores, for which Hugh even took the time to carve us roasting sticks. Overall this was an extremely pleasant trip; Hugh and Laura were amazing hosts, and I would recommend staying at their beautiful Long Island residence to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
