Interaction with Guests
I own the 3 family building, which has its own separate apartment on each floor. I live on the first floor with my husband, so I am as accessible as you want :) we can either arrange for a meeting when you arrive to hand over keys and I can show you to your apartment. I usually go over details of the apartment and neighborhood, or if it's late and/or I will not be home, we set up a place to pick up keys (usually the mailbox). You will be staying on the second floor. I am available if you have any questions, and you are also welcome to just come down to the first floor and knock on the door if you need anything as well :)
I love Greenpoint! I personally think it is the best neighborhood in the city. It has the perfect mix of everything you could possibly want. It is peppered with tons of cool shops and restaurants, without being overcrowded (at least not yet)
There is street parking (non-metered) and you can usually find parking right outside the building. There are a couple times per week you need to move the car for street cleaning so be sure to look at the parking signs and move your car during street cleaning hours.
The ferry is located 1 block away and the G Train is located 2 blocks from the apartment so is is super convenient. I go into further detail on the best/fastest ways to get to the city in my apartment description so please check that out for more info
There is no smoking in the apartment. You can go outside and smoke out in front of the building if you need to. Sorry, no pets.
Great host, made us feel welcome. The place was clean, well stocked and seemed bigger than the pictures on the website. Would recommend.
I was excited to stay in Lisa's apartment because of the stellar reviews from previous guests. Unfortunately, speaking from my experience and 3-night stay, I cannot recommend this listing.
I did not receive the same hospitality as her previous guests. I updated Lisa on my ETA the day before my arrival, and she responded that she will be "out" and sent me info about the apartment and where to find the keys. My friend and I got in just fine. The apartment was beautifully decorated, very clean, spacious, and had everything we could need. Location was perfect, too.
However, the apartment was a bit cold. While lounging in the apartment, my friend kept her winter hat on, and I walked around with a blanket over me. I messaged Lisa the following morning and asked if she could turn up the heat. No response. I waited till the evening to message her again. Nada. I didn't get a response until 24 hours later and after I texted her directly. Her "out" meant she was in a cabin in Wisconsin for the weekend with no cell service. She did not offer a real solution and only sent her apologies. She called me a few minutes after and tried to give me instructions on how to turn on one of the small baseboard heaters. It was too difficult (needed to use two pliers) and I couldn't do it. She then said she may able to find a friend to come over. At that point, I was more upset with the lack of communication than the chilly apartment and had made do with the extra blankets. I do believe this is a rare case for her and she is usually prompt and present for her guests, but I think it was completely irresponsible of her to not notify me of her absence, to be completely out of reach, and not arrange an immediate substitute host. What if there was a real emergency? She also didn't offer to lower the rate of my stay. I checked-out feeling very very disappointed.
It is very disheartening to hear Marya's review.
Life happens, and I had to unexpectedly fly to Wisconsin last minute. I emailed Marya right away with access instructions and apt. info. I told her the best way to contact me was to TEXT or CALL me with anything, she did neither. I received her email that they got in ok and that everything was great. I went to bed thinking everything was ok.
The next morning I woke up to 3 emails (no texts or calls) with the last two emails being pretty nasty that they were upset that I hadn't responded. I called them right away and offered to have someone come over to turn up the heat. She said it was not necessary and that she was more upset that I hadn't responded. I tried to insist to have someone come over and check the heat and she refused. I reminded her that the best way contact me was to text or call and they would be able to reach me right away. I could tell she had already gotten herself all hot and bothered. I understand you cannot please everybody but I do believe I did everything I could on my end.
As far as how she thought I should have had arranged for an immediate substitute host: Airbnb is all about renting your place when you are AWAY. It just so happens I live on the 1st floor but I never made her any guarantees that I would be there during her stay. Well, you can't win them all and this was literally the first and only negative review I have ever received. Well, at least she still loved the apartment! :)
Lisa was a perfect hostess. Despite the fact that our flight was delayed and we arrived rather later than expected she was there when we arrived and showed us the apartment which was perfect! The neighborhood is quiet and lovely to wander through. There are coffee shops and restaurants and shops for almost anything you might need in walking distance. It's easy to get to Manhattan and back: the east river ferry and the subway are both very close and easy to use. The apartment itself is lovely and it was very comforting to know Lisa was just downstairs. We enjoyed our visit very, very much and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Lisa!
This is a gem in an amazing neighborhood in Brooklyn! Lisa is too kind and very respectful of space. The bedroom is cozy and spacious with views of the backyard. The living room area and little breakfast/lunch/dinner/reading nook is completely sunlit and fresh feeling. Great energy in this adorable home away from home.
I booked a stay for myself and 2 others on very short notice. Regardless, the hoss were very accommodating and had no issues with the last minute booking. They were very considerate and the apartment we rented was very nice, clean and well organized.
This was my first time using Airbnb and we had a wonderful first experience. The location was perfect for what we were looking for. The host was great about communicating everything we needed to know from check-in to check-out. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to stay in Brooklyn.
