Description

The Space

This is a single bedroom in a duplex house in a charming, residential, south city-centre street. Arnott Street is quiet, cool and sophisticated, and just around the corner is the lively Camden Street area, lined with bars, music venues, restaurants and eateries catering to every taste. It is a great central location – and a quiet, cosy home with all the amenities too.

The bedroom is at the back of the house and gets the morning sunshine. The bed is a standard double – suitable for one to two guests. Clean sheets, bedding, towels and plenty of storage are all supplied.

Guest Access

Fully equipped kitchen, bathroom/shower, living room, computer, wifi, washing machine, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, small back garden (suitable for smokers). An on-street parking permit can be arranged for just €1.25 per day.

Interaction with Guests

The level of interaction is really up to you. I understand that some guests are happy to do their own thing, others will look for advice and recommendations, and with others there might be an opportunity to show you a little of my Dublin. It's all good as long as you're happy and you enjoy your stay.

The Neighborhood

The Camden Street/Portobello area is one of the very best in Dublin – lively, multicultural, full of pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, music venues and night clubs. Whelans, Dublin's most iconic music venue is just around the corner. Even closer is Devitt's pub, host to one of Dublin's best traditional Irish music sessions every weekend.

Other places of interest in the immediate vicinity include: St Patrick's Cathedral, Marsh's Library, The Irish-Jewish Museum, the birthplace of George Bernard Shaw, the National Concert Hall, the Iveagh Gardens, St Stephen's Green … and many more.

Grafton Street, Trinity College, the Parliamentary buildings, the National History Museum and the National Gallery are within a radius of 10-15 mins walk. So too are Dublin Castle and the wonderful Chester Beattie Library.

The thriving nightlife of George's Street, South William Street and Dame Lane – and the more tourist-focused Temple Bar are also about 10 mins walk away.

The Guinness Brewery, the Jameson Distillery, the Brazen Head Pub, The Cobblestone, O'Connell Street are a little further out from the centre, but easily walkable. It's worth pointing out that Dublin city centre is mostly on the south side of the river, so most places of interest – and most of the nightlife – are easier to access if you're based on this side of the city.

For sports fans, Croke Park is on the number 16 bus route; the Aviva Stadium/Landsdowne Road is a short taxi journey away.

Getting Around

All the main city-centre attractions are close enough to walk to from here – and I'm happy to provide maps to show you how to get around. But if you have cause to use public transport, the area is very well served by bus routes, light rail (Luas), taxis and Dublin Bikes.

Other Things to Note

On-street visitor parking permits can be arranged for only €1.25/day. Please let me know in advance if you need one of these permits.
