ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD/LOCATION - Midtown West/Hell's Kitchen/Times Square:
My apartment is in a PERFECT LOCATION for visiting NYC. Apt is close to all subway lines, very close to Times Square, in the heart of Manhattan with lots of great shops, bars, eclectic restaurants, cafes, clubs and everything NYC has to offer.
Subway lines in the area are:
1, A, B, C, D lines-located at Broadway and 58th
E line at Broadway and 50th or Broadway and 53 St
N, R line at 49th and 7th ave
Tons of grocery stores, delis, drugstores nearby (some of which are 24-hour).
- Easy to hail a cab, they are all over in this busy area
- Easy to get to the apt from the airport by subway or you can also take a taxi or shuttle (if you need directions I will provide them after reservation)
- If you have car there are affordable lots nearby where you can find good deals for longer periods of time, but it is advisable to use the public transportation because this area is very busy and parking can be a hassle.
INCLUDED IN NIGHTLY RATE:
- Towels and linens
-There's a security deposit that you will get back automatically 48 hrs after your visit (though if any damage is done you will be held responsible and by making a booking you hereby agree to this).
- WIFI, and all utilities.
-fully stocked kitchen
-IHome system to play music, alarm, radio etc
CHECK IN/OUT TIMES:
Flexible except if there is another party either checking out on the same day you arrive, or checking in on the same day that you are departing. If that is the case the check-out times is 12 Pm and the check-in time is 2 PM or later.
VERY IMPORTANT- this is a luxury building and management is very fussy about noise, so no loud partying in the apartment. I will also ask you to please keep the place in order, use everything with care and not damage the furniture while you stay over. Also smoking is not allowed
Rules for the check-in/check-out and apt usage.
Please respect them because the success of my listing depends on them and if my neighbors complain then my listing will be taken down from Airbnb and I will lose everything. If you will not respect them and my polite request to you, then I will have to withhold money from or your total security deposit.
1)Please call the host when getting to the apt and wait on the corner in front of the Deli at 49th and 9th Ave in order for the host to come escort you to the apartment
2)Please get the luggage inside the apartment as soon as possible so that the entrance will not be blocked for the other neighbors which will complain if that happens
3)Please come with your luggage organized and avoid having many small bags, instead have 3 or 4 big carry-ons
While staying at the apartment:
1)Please know that if anyone asks who you are, you have to tell them you are friends of mine visiting me for a couple of days and I am staying with you.
2)Please don’t make noise in the apartment and use everything with care.
3)Please if you are a large group, 4 people, get out of the apt in the morning 2 by 2 people, at an interval of 2 minutes from one another.
4)Any emergency you might have or issue call the host and ask for help, do not ask neighbors or anyone else.
1)Please don’t block the entrance and hang on the hallway with luggage, leave the apartment 2 by 2 people and take the luggage outside in an organized manner. There cannot be any blocking with too many people or luggage in the building hallway or right in front of the building.
2)If you need to leave before the host gets to do the check-out then you can leave the keys inside of the apartment and drag the door after you, it will lock automatically.
Wishing you a wonderful stay and thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
Location, Location, Location… This place has it! Close to EVERYTHING! If you are looking to be IN the city then this place is your best bet. Madlene took care of me with whatever I needed… I will definitely come back.
Thanks Saccha woudl love to host you again in the future..
Everyone please note the 3 cancellations below are related to a listing I no longer have and had to cancel because of that. Otherwise I never cancel on my guests, as you can see with all the history through reviews I do not show other cancelations..
My experience at the apartment was a mix of both good and disappointing. Madelene is very friendly and happy to help you out with late check in. We arrived at 7pm and she was fine with waiting to us. Positives were the location was great. Really close to Times Square, lots of different bars and Irish pubs and great restaurants. We also loved the fact that the apartment had wifi. For us coming from Australia being able to contact everyone back home was good. However besides the location and the wifi we had a few issues.
Here is a list of the main issues: The tap drips loudly all night and day, the air vent is directly above the bed and it is very very noisy, the bed itself is broken, meaning when you lay in bed the bed slops to the middle which is very uncomfortable. In addition to all the negatives the apartment was not properly cleaned the bedroom was covered in dust and the walls were covered in marks. All in all the apartment had its positives and its negatives.
This is not one of those nice, cute apartments as it may appear from the photos. It's very cold and there's no ceiling lights in the rooms, but one lamp in each room, so it's rather dark in the evening. Small room has a window facing the wall and the main room has one looking at the huge trash containers. The apartment was also only superficially cleaned. It is difficult to say if those dark sheets and towels were clean, but they didn't look nor smell as they were.
I have to say, however, that the host was easy to communicate during our stay (bit less before) and has readily provided us with the small heater and the extra blankets, but that was not sufficient as the apartment has only one tinny radiator.
Please read reviews of the apartment from the two guests right before Emina's stay- Trudy Coke and Robert Griffith. The lamps in the room have 3 lightbulbs that can be turned on or you can keep just one. I bought it like this specifically for people to be able to adjust how much light they want in the room depending on the mood they want to set up. Im sorry to see that you did not enjoy Emina, I tired my best and brought you 2 more thick comforters and 2 heater, one for each room. The boiler in the building is working and tenants are not complaining but I asked the superintendent to change the valves of the static radiators both in the living room and the one in the wall in the bedroom. Now the temperature is much higher in the apartment which makes the small heaters unnecessary.
Madlene is a very sweet and kind host. Our flight was late. We stayed in touch and she met us at the apartment and was there again when it was time to check out. The location is awesome! Right in Hell's Kitchen, 5 mins from Times Square and a block from Subway (underground, not sandwich shop...). Speaking of food, right outside the front door is 9th Avenue. There are TONS of really amazing restaurants and most major Broadway theater venues are within walking distance. Location. Location. Location!
It was REALLY cold in NYC those two nights and the heat couldn't keep up. We found a space heater, though, and that helped a lot. Also, I think the building's boiler is in the basement under the bedroom and the pipes in the wall in the back bedroom. It was pretty noisy and took some getting used to. All in all, it was a great time and I wouldn't hesitate renting from Madlene again.
Thank you Robert was great hosting you and I'm so glad you mention the fact that I waited for you and we were in communication at all times. Was great having you, thank you for leaving teh apartment in such a great condition and the heat situation is improved..
Great apartment, Four of us stayed there enough room for some privacy. Very cosy with a relaxed feel. Extremely close to time square we were able to walk there in 10 minutes. Nice 24 hr grocery store on the corner and some great deli,s and bars close by.Felt safe walking around area even late at night. If we ever return to New York would definitely look to stay there again.
Personne agréable, description logement assez ressemblante. Très bien situé ( proximité metro, divers restaurants, proche Broadway, rockfeller center ...).
Madlene met us right on time. Apartment was as described and very close to the metro and Times Square. The view from the apartment is not scenic and I know the city is busy but I did not expect the pigeons to keep me awake.
