Probably the best place we have stayed in NZ while we have been here. Reminded us so much of the chalets in the Alps. Great staff that goes a bit further than you expect, perfect views over Queenstown and the lake, close proximity to town and a perfect breakfast to top it off. Loved our time here and would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Queenstown. Spend at least a couple of nights ...

Fantastic property in a brilliant location. Cautionary note - although some photos (#12) show views of Lake Wakatipu from the balcony the room you get may not. We faced the Remarkables - still wonderful however we were looking forward to lake views. On further inspection the description does indicate that you may not get lake views

Response from Alex:
Thanks Wayne for your review. We have removed all information about views even though as you said the description did indicated you may not get a lake view. We are glad the rest of your stay went well.

Gorgeous B and B in Queenstown. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Fabulous views over the lake and mountains with a secluded deck. A cosy, comfortable warm room. Excellent wifi system, easy to use and WORKS! Bathroom clean and everything works great with quality soaps and shampoos. The room was serviced each day and clean towels and bed made perfect for you. The breakfast was restaurant quality with hot food ordered from a menu. Very yummy. The location was an easy walk into Queenstown so near enough to be close but still peaceful. There are some nice sitting areas to relax. A very picturesque and lovely place to stay in Queenstown. Highly recommend Alex's place.

Chalet Queenstown is a charming and sleek Bed & Breakfast with a wonderful host and an amazing breakfast! My husband and I were staying during our two week honeymoon adventure in New Zealand from the US, completing our trip in Queenstown. This was a great place to wrap up our adventure! Great views from the balcony, a quick & easy walk to the town centre, delicious breakfast and a cozy atmosphere. We got in pretty late and Alex was there ready to greet us with a warm smile and a quick tour of where we were staying. If we're ever in Queenstown again, we'll definitely be back to Chalet Queenstown.

Response from Alex:

Only 5 minutes walk from central Queenstown Chalet Queenstown is a long known landmark around Queenstown having been initially built in the 1960s. Taken over by Alex and John in 2007 the Chalet was rebuilt in 2009 and refurbished in 2015.

With its Swiss design exterior, the Chalet’s interior has an internal staircase, disabled access and an accessible bedroom and facilities, decking/patio area, balconies for each of the 7 guest rooms, a sunny dining room and guest lounge. Rooms have fabulous views of the Remarkables, Lake Wakatipu or Queenstown Hill. Alex and John are renown for their warm hospitality, engaging with guests from all over the world and humour.

Travelling around New Zealand, drinks with friends, good food and proudly talking about all Queenstown has to offer including its beautiful scenery and things that make Alex and John happy. Interesting music, warm islands in winter, live stage performance, scouting out furniture stores are amongst their interests.

It’s a testament to John and Alex’s belief in the future of Queenstown’s tourism industry and they have a lovely property in Arthurs Point which is also available for rental called the Paddock Straw Bale Luxury Holiday House. Yes you read it right the house is made of straw bales and has spectacular views over the Shotover River. Private and just a little way from central Queenstown its a wonderful retreat.
