About this listing
Spacious third floor bedroom with queen bed, private bathroom and study in a traditional Philly rowhome in one of the NY Times' "hottest neighborhoods" Come live like a local for a night- plus we're only two blocks from the subway to center city!
Beautiful, French-inspired space in artsy Fishtown/East Kensington. The suite has a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, extra blankets, and an oversize armchair, a separate office, and a private full bath stocked with all linens, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, and a hair dryer. This space is ideal for 1-2 people and can be a romantic couples retreat or a quiet space for one person looking to get away. We have a garden in the back for you to enjoy in the warm months as well!
You have an entire floor to yourself! It's very private with lots of space. We are generally a quiet household, especially on weekdays. During the week, we're out the door by 8:30 and don't return 'til the evening, so you'll have the house to yourself. On weekends, we may have occasional visitors, but we are often out and about then as well.
Interaction with Guests
We only host when we are in town, but you'll have as much privacy as you need. We're happy to offer suggestions on where to eat, stuff to do or how to get around. If you want tea or coffee in the morning, let us know the night before and we'll set it up for you.
**Please be sure to get in touch with us when you book to let us know your arrival/departure plans. We work downtown during the day and you will likely need to meet up with us to retrieve a key if you're arriving during business hours**
Fishtown/East Kensington have recently been profiled by the New York Times as Philly's hippest neighborhood. Our home is walking distance to galleries, coffee shops, bars and more along the Frankford Avenue Arts Corridor. We are in an up-and-coming, vibrant urban area and we hope you will love it as much as we do. Grab a slice of the Kira Tierston pizza at Pizza Brain and follow it up with a cone of Bourbon Vanilla ice cream at Little Baby's Ice Cream next door, or enjoy fine seasonal French dining at the BYOB Pickled Heron. Steap & Grind has great coffee, tea, and pastries. We also love Atlantis bar for a casual local brew, and Loco Pez for blood orange margaritas and Nachos de Kenzo (trust us). Soup Kitchen Cafe does an excellent bfast/lunch- we recommend the tomato soup and grilled cheese with pickled green tomatoes. A half mile south on Frankford Avenue, you'll find Frankford Hall, a German-style biergarten, and Fette Sau, the most delicious BBQ on the planet, all nestled next to some great local boutiques.
First Fridays are when the neighborhood really comes alive- all the galleries along Frankford Avenue stay open late for the party, so if you're here then, it's a lot of fun! Generally, Frankford Ave is a great place to wander around and check out shops/galleries/restaurants/bars.
We are two blocks from the Market-Frankford subway line, which takes you downtown in about 10 minutes. There are also several bus lines nearby. On-street parking is very plentiful and free. To get here from the Airport, take the Airport Line to 30th Street Station and hop on the Market-Frankford Line Eastbound, get off at York-Dauphin. Cross the overhead bridge, walk through the turnstiles, and exit through the stairway after the turnstile. Make a right at the end of the stairs, cross Front Street, and walk two blocks East to our house. We're on the left side of the street. If you're driving, we're the Girard/Aramingo Ave exit off of I-95.
Other Things to Note
We up until recently had two cats living in the house, but they were adopted to other homes due to Clare's allergies.
The neighborhood is diverse and rapidly changing, but overall it is pretty safe and we live on a great block with wonderful neighbors.
Our home is LGBT-friendly and we love meeting all different kinds of people.
No smoking of any kind in the house, please! We are definitely a fun-loving house but request that you be respectful and not bring extra guests back with you. Our listing is meant for two adults maximum and we'd prefer not to host more than that.
We unfortunately cannot host guests with unnatural hair colors (blue, green, pink, etc.) due to dye staining issues with bathroom/linens.
If you need something, just ask. Whether it's a forgotten toothbrush or a restaurant recommendation, we're happy to help. If you want coffee or tea in the morning, please let us know by 9 pm the night before and we will set it up.
Please remember to lock the door and don't leave valuables visible in your car. This is the city, so it is good to be mindful of your surroundings and exercise caution when walking around at night.
