I really enjoyed my stay with Cid. What a colorful, joyous, and gracious host! He even cooked a delicious meal for me and shared his wine. The space was comfortable, airy, and blessed with an artistic vibe. If you're looking for an authentic experience, look no further than Cid's art gallery.
We wanted to stay in a more personal, unique atmosphere than large hotels provide. We found it at Cid's Art Gallery. CID was extremely helpful, great personal energy in looking out for needs. Great kitchen, lively atmosphere at a convenient location. We became members of his artistic group for a short time. A memorable experience for years to come. Thanks Cid.
Cid Mendez was a great host...and a really good man to get to know too. He welcomed me with homemade cooking and a bottle of Argentinian red wine. Cid also invited me to various social events including a really cool blues concert on the Saturday evening in New York.
The Art Gallery is a great place to say. Nice bedroom. Very close to the NY ferry and within minutes of all amenities in Hoboken. I'd recommend it. Thank you Cid.
Stop looking now! You found your place! I shot a short film scene at CID's and the location is perfect. And Cid is a dream!
But not only was the location perfect, I ended up hiring CID to do
1. Set decoration 2. Craft services 3. Art department 4. Party planner.
Cid can do everything! And he has such as wonderful attitude. . I hope to work and shoot with CID again!
Finding CID is like striking gold!
Cid is also my friend now too!
We had a great time in Hoboken. The art gallery is a lovely place and Cid truly considered us to be his guests during our stay and made sure we were taken care of by being very responsive and respectful of our needs. All of the basic amenities were provided and then some; he even packed the fridge with some food for us!
If we were nitpicking, we could say that the noise in the building can be a bit loud; as other tenants are walking in and out of the building, etc, but we were able to very quickly adapt to it and have a fun and relaxing stay.
The art gallery was an amazing place to stay at. Cid was just awesome as a host. Cid renovated the the gallery and the room himself and he is really good at what he does as an artist. Cid was extremely friendly and helped me whenever I needed it. Local recommendations from Cid were spot on and I really had a great time.
Could not have found a better place to stay at or a better host to stay with.
Great place to stay. The location of the gallery is perfect for walks along the Hudson River across the water from midtown Manhattan - I did my morning run there with the sun coming up over the Manhattan skyline which was spectacular. Getting to Manhattan was easy too - the ferry service to Manhattan is just round the corner from Cid's place, as is the bus stop, or a short walk to the underground. Cid couldn't have been more friendly, charming or helpful - he's a lovely person. The gallery is cool, fun and funky, and Hoboken's best wine bar (with yummie food) is just round the corner. Highly recommend.
So I am calling Cid's place "My Little Hoboken Home" ... I had such a great stay with Cid and I will most definitely stay with him in his wonderful space when I next return to New York and New Jersery.
I arrived at Cid's place a stranger and left as a friend .. his place is so very cool, a welcoming, fun and funky retreat to return to after a day of sight seeing and shopping in the big smoke.
Like most people visiting NYC I was originally keen to stay in one of the NYC boroughs (well Manhattan & Brooklyn anyway) but of course the prices are crazy ridiculous and so a fellow traveller suggested I look at staying in Hoboken ... I am glad I took her advice. It was so easy to get to NYC from Cid's place using either the PATH (which I dubbed my HoboLimo) ... a quick and interesting stroll up Washington Ave to the station .. I even did it in heels on occasion, or a beautiful Ferry ride across the Hudson, and you can catch the bus as well .. I didn't do the bus as I enjoyed the Ferry or the convenience of the PATH).
Something I hadn't expected though was how much I would actually enjoy staying in Hoboken, what a great place. Casual, safe, easy to get around, and lots of places to chill, get a coffee or enjoy a wine. Every morning I went for a run along the Hudson .. and THAT VIEW!!! You won't get that view staying in Manhattan.
This is my 6th time using airbnb.com but my first time staying as a solo female traveller and I was made to feel very safe and very welcome. I would definitely recommend for anyone to stay with Cid in his Art Gallery/loft ... you will love it!
Cid and his place are great! The place is very comfortable and Cid is an incredible host. There is always freshly cooked food and other healthy snacks at your disposal. Cid is quick to help in any way he can. Such a great place I stayed a second week while waiting for my apartment to become available.
Staying at Cid's was a wonderful experience for two reasons:
First, Cid's apartment is a cool gallery and working space. He creates the most amazing art and the apartment changes on a daily basis.
Second, Cid is a fun energetic person and a talented cook. He showed me around, we went to restaurants together and had dinners more than once. He is a fun person to hang out with and always helpful.
Location wise, the apartment is 10-20 mins. from Manhattan with easy access to public transportation.
