Described by many as the most biologically diverse area in the the world. Located on southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica with beautiful beaches and divine scenery. Of all the spectacular beaches that are here Playa Uvita is among the most magnificent beaches in the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Located in the province of Puntarenas, 16 kilometers south of Dominical, a surfing spot, Playa Uvita is in the Marino Ballena National Park.
The best way to get to Playa Uvita is to fly to Juan Santamaria International Airport and from there take a bus to Quepos and Dominical. From here you can take another bus to Playa Uvita, a short trip. Another alternative for tourists is to fly to Palomar Sur Airport and then drive to Uvita beach.
You can go all year round as it has glorious weather most of the time. Playa Uvita is a 2 mile beach of white sand and moderate waves and crystal blue water. Because this beach is part of Ballena Marine National Park any hunting or fishing of marine life is strictly prohibited. However, swimming conditions are ideal and tourists can enjoy a variety of water sports. Best phenomenon of Playa Uvita is its beautiful landscapes with statutory and mangrove swamps as well as its charming atmosphere of the village.
Horseback riding, snorkeling, kayaking and scuba diving are popular activities, while those who prefer a more relaxed peace can walk along the coast or take a sunbath on the beach and enjoy the beautiful scenery and marine life that Playa Uvita offers. It's a relatively quiet beach with few tourists and you can also take a tour to Isla del Caño, Isla Violines, Isla Ballena or walk a few miles into the rainforest or mountains.
Started from San Jose on Route 27 in the newly built road to the edge of the west coast, through the towns of Jaco and Quepos to reach Dominical (playa Dominical). This is where you should take the main road called the Costanera Sur; you pass some beautiful beaches and finally to Uvita. Uvita Casa is located 400 meters south of Banco Nacional from Cabinas Gato turn right (west) and go 0.8 kilometers down the road and you will find the soccer field on the right and the entrance on the left and go another 200 m, the big house on the left with the 1000m2 garden.

The host was easy to get ahold of and answered our questions quickly. We loved how quiet the area was, and that we could easily walk down to the beach. The grass hut outside was a lovely retreat from he heat!
We enjoyed a peaceful stay at this quiet cabin near Marino Ballena National Park. Our host was quick to address any questions or concerns, and we felt well cared for. The surrounding garden was a charming plus, and we were even able to pick a couple of limes and a fresh papaya to accompany meals prepared on site. Hummingbirds and other more exotic bird life were sometimes visible outside our windows in the mornings, and we were even visited by a very friendly neighborhood cat. Visitors planning to spend time at the (lovely) nearby beach should keep in mind that there is a $6 access charge until 4pm. The cabin did get fairly warm at certain times of day- the air conditioning is located only in the main bedroom, so keep that in mind if you have trouble sleeping with a ceiling fan alone. All in all, it was a welcome escape from the big city and a nice base of operations from which to explore Uvita.
Ayse was fantastic in terms of response time and flexibility. We changed our date by one night with no problems and it was done within an hour of my original request. The home itself was lovely, we greatly enjoyed the hammock and the outdoor shower after the beach. The grounds are beautiful and well taken care of and we saw lots of birds, hummingbirds, a large green iguana, fireflies, etc. Would have been nice to have A/C in the whole house. It was a little difficult to get up and running as everything was unplugged, electricity turned off entirely when we arrived so we had to spend a portion of our first day figuring out how to put things together, going to the store to buy hand soap, etc. Fortunately my husband is handy and the caretaker, Miguel, was kind enough to return a few times to help us. I thought that since the house was 200 meters from the beach we could walk easily but there is no beach access directly from the house. Thus, 800m of travel to the beach with 2 small children via 3 roads, 2 of which are 'busy' for Uvita, made beach access a little more challenging than we had anticipated. We could never figure out how to use the safety box and the alarm system was not working but we felt very safe so it was not really an issue. Our family had plenty of space and many fun adventures in Uvita!
Perfect home, perfect location!
We spent 4 days in Uvita. This home is well located for an easy walk to the beach. The open layout is nice and it has a well equipped kitchen. Master has A/C which was a very good respite from heat. Internet connection is very good. Caretaker Miguel is lovely but if we spoke Spanish it would have been a bit easier. You can walk to grocery easily. Make sure you eat lunch or dinner at Espanol Sabor near Flutterby house. This home is a treat and we will gladly return again. Pura Vida!
What a beautiful house. We truly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast under the ranchero in the back yard was divine. As was the out door shower. I'll stay here again when I'm in Uvita.
