About This Listing
You will love this 4-storey town house in the middle of the city. Great for big groups of friends or families, as 9 people can stay comfortably.
Charming town house situated in the heart of historical Çukurcuma. The red façade and the flower ornamentations on the window sills defines the building (There is a twin house next door). The original iron front door opens onto the 100-year-old tiled entrance hall. The other floors are polished wood, steps are wooden. During its century old life, it has been used as a house, an antique shop and a restaurant. The building has wireless ADSL internet connection. There are air conditioners at every floor. Natural gas combi heater heats the house and water and provides natural gas for the cookers. There are fire extinguishers and fire blankets on each floor. Linens and towels are provided and changed every three days. Wireless and a diaphone buzzer is a standard in all our flats.
Ottoman Town House is a 3 storey building with 4 bedrooms and a livingroom and 3 bathrooms in total. You enter the house with a few steps. There is an entrance hall and then the stairs lead to the upper floor bedrooms. On the 1st floor, there are two bedrooms: on the left room, there are 2 twin beds, on the right room you have 2 single beds. Both bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with a shower. On the 2nd floor, there is the kitchen (equipped with plates and cutlery and glasses, a microwave and a 2 eye cooker and a kettle), 1 bedroom with twin beds and there is a livingroom with a sofa, a dining table and chairs, tv with satellite and dvd player. On the 3rd floor, there is one large bathroom with an antique bath and shower curtains, a washing maschine, iron and ironing board and hanger to dry clothes. There is another twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. There are also iron and ironing board and hanger to dry clothes and a vacuum cleaner here. The steps in this apartment are rather steep as the ceiling is quite high, so it would not be very suitable for the elderly, but the house is ideal for family reunions, big groups, get togethers. There is enough sleeping space for 9.
You are on Faikpasa Street. When you get out of the house, turn right and walk 200mt. downhill and on your right is Cezayir Street where there are cafes, restaurants and bars where they play live on weekends. Further down, you’ll come to Tophane. Along the main road is glass shops, Hisko - a restaurant serving home cooked meals- and art galleries. This road will take you eventually to the tram line connecting Kabatas (ferry and sea-bus port, funicular to Taksim are all in Kabatas) to the Old City, Sultanahmet area. Istanbul Modern Museum is also along this line. All the tourist attractions are along Eminonu (Misir Carsisi, Tahtakale)-Gulhane- Sultanahmet-Divanyolu-Beyazit tram stops. If you turn left when you get out of the house, and walk uphill for 700mt, you’ll come to Istiklal Street. Look left and you’ll see Demiroren Shopping Mall. A little further to the left is the Fish Market. You can find fish, flowers, spices, poultry, meat, deserts, bread and flour products, vegetables and fruits, alcohol, local delicatessen here. It is a haven for food lovers! If you want to eat out, Istiklal Street and side streets along Istiklal and Cihangir offer tens of choices. Taksim Square, the transportation hub (metro, bus, “dolmus”), is a 10-minute walk

We stayed with 5 people. Soner was very helpful, letting us use their basement conference room for a meeting, arranging airport transportation and checking in to make sure all was ok. The house is as described, although the rooms (especially the kitchen) are pretty small. The house is only maybe 12 feet wide. It's amazing they have put in (small) bathrooms in 3 of the rooms. The spiral stairs are very steep. Definitely not for anyone with a handicap.
The neighborhood is very relaxed, with many hang-out spaces nearby. Great coffee is available in many places, with 7grain coffee literally around the corner. Good food was also easy to find. One drawback is that the major tourist sites are fairly far away but its much less crowded than Sultanahmet.
The place was a big disappointment.....it was not what it looked in the pictures...it was a 3 storey apartment not child friendly at all...
I am sorry that your stay was not a good experience for you. I would like to clarify some points though. There are several pictures of the staircase and in the explanation I say clearly that steps are steep and it will not be suitable for some people. I furthermore explain which room is on which floor. I am sorry that you missed this info.
as for the neighborhood, this is a cosmopolitan part of the city and I believe visitors come here for this reason. The accomodation decision must be made with great care to avoid such disappointments. Perhaps it would be much better if some more time was spent to investigate the quarters of Istanbul and decide which would suit your family's needs.
I thought I would receive a tahnk you for the milk and bread I left for the children even when this is not a part of my routine.
Anyway, it was a nice family in my point of view and I would love to host you again.
This place was really nice to stay at 10 - 11 people.
Beds are bit tight but most of accommodations have a bathroom with toilet, they are full of blankets, towels. Kitchen is not made to cook, but who'd cook when you have plenty of restaurants nearby. Enough to have a decent breakfast though. Terrace is nice, always under the sun by day, some neighbors are not so much (nice) if you're speaking loud by night.
Neighborhood is quiet, full of nice antiques, cafés. Location is really great to navigate day and night in the city: metros, tram, just between Eminonu and Taksim.
The apartment was in a very nice location and was easily large enough for the six of us. The roof terrace was a great place to sit in the evening but a bit hot during the day. Very nice apartment and very clean.
Soner was very friendly and helpful organaising all kind of things to us. Apartment was quite OK, kitchen should have been bigger with a table. Apartment is very well situated but big minus is noise from the traffic and streets.
