Located in the paradise island of Gili Meno, maoMeno is a place for relaxation, Yoga, art and any Life affirming activities. Whether you want to rent a family house with kitchen, just a simple island hut, organize an event or join us for daily yoga classes, maoMeno provides all this.
This 100% bamboo construction house is ideal for those guests looking for a natural, zen and tranquil living space. It has two bedrooms and a big veranda overlooking to the garden.
The master bedroom equips a double bed with en suite large open air bathroom and a unique spot to instal our massage bed if required by guests. The second bedroom has two 120cm mattresses, enough for sleeping 4 children, or 2 adults. This bedroom doesn´t have toilet. Guests sleeping here may use our common bathroom (located 50m away) or share bathroom between both rooms. No kitchen is provided.
Unique features like our bamboo floors (which provide natural ventilation) or several big japanese style sliding doors make of this house a special one! We have reduced furniture to the essential to help maintain its zen atmosphere. This includes futon style mattress frames which may be a little uncomfortable for the most elders, as they are very close to the floor.
Fresh water shipped from the neighbor island of Lombok is provided. Breakfast is available at an additional cost of 3 euros per person/night. Otherwise we can provide an "a la carte" menu in our juice bar.
We didn't get top meet Kike during our stay but all prior communication with him was appreciated.
The resort is basic but beautiful and a one of a kind experience for guests. A great place to chill out and reconnect with nature in lush green surrounds and perfect silence.
The breakfast is heavenly and we had the most gorgeous Balinese cook. Unfortunately you need to provide your own food if you arrive late at night - something we weren't aware of, so we went hungry the first night.
The accommodation is clean, although bedding in the Bamboo house is on the floor and red ants and mosquitoes easily get into the tent making for an uncomfortable sleep.
All in all, a great resort built by two lovely individuals although perhaps not suited to city slickers like myself.
Kike was a great host, very nice and kind person. He seems to know everyone in the Island so don't hesitate to ask him to set something for you, such as a snorkeling trip. He'll get good rates and good service.
The location is very relaxing, but the accommodation (we stayed at the bamboo house) was a bit to spartiate for me, and a bit overpriced as well. But I guess it's the price of true tranquility....
We (two couples) loved MaoMeno and the bamboo house! it really fitted with how we imagined our Gili experience to be, calm and close to nature. Kike has kept the place intimate and simple, this was fine with us as we were snorkling and discovering the island during the day and in the evening would relax in the porch enjoying the surroundings. The island is pretty small so you can get anywear within 20 min walk. It can get quite dark as there is not a lot of street light so take a torch for making your way to Maomeno at night, then again you can admire a great view of the milky way and the stars.
We liked our stay at the Bamboo Hut. It was exactly as pictured on the site: beautiful, very pristine and / but (depending on what you want) rather primitive. It is my own fault that I had not realized in advance that there was not a real table / chairs, and I missed that. Furthermore, I was under the impression that the sea was closer than it actually was (it is about 10 minutes walk), and we were a bit disappointed by that, But apart from these 'misunderstandings' of mine, the place itself is beautiful and very relaxing. Kike gave us good suggestions about what to do and where to go, and the breakfast was perfect as well.
If I ever was to come back to Gili Meno, I would certainly go back to this spot, but then I would make sure to book on time so that we could stay in the house (which was already booked), which is really BEAUTIFUL!!!!
