Interaction with Guests
I live in the home on the first floor. Should you need anything do not hesitate to ask. Only thing is my English is very limited. I may have you text my daughter on my phone to translate what you need. I can give you suggestions of what to do or give you as much privacy as needed. Don't be shy to ask any questions.
Yo voy estar en la casa para recibirlos , solo hablo Español.
We love this neighborhood because its safe and centrally located to just about everything. During Christmas you can see the lights down the river. I can easily get around the city in minutes to the popular areas but can also avoid the traffic that comes with living in Poblado. Staying here will give you a true locals feel in Medellin.
It's easy to get around, we can call you a taxi to where ever you need to go. The taxi's here are inexpensive, the minimum is 4,500 pesos. From the airport in Rio Negro you can take a taxi which is 55,000 pesos or you can take the bus for 12,000 pesos and then take a cab from San Diego and it will be about 5,000 pesos. Very easy to get to the home, it's in Barrio Conquistadores a very safe area of Medellin.
The metro is also nearby as well just a short ride with a taxi.

We had a nice time at Bertilda's. The whole family was very nice, talkative and helpful. They gave us good tips for the city. The room was very clean and comfortable. Bertilda's house is located in a safe neighborhood of Medellin, not too far from the city center, you can walk to the metro station it takes only 10-15 min.
No la conocimos a Bertilda. y la ubicación de la casa estuvo relativamente bien.
I had a lovely (and sadly very short) stay at Bertilda's place in Medellín. After a quick flight from Bogotá and a long and bumpy 45 minute ride into Medellín from the airport, I was very happy to meet Bertilda at her home, where she greeted me with a hug and a glass of delicious juice.
Despite my very limited Spanish, Bertilda was very patient with me and explained everything slowly enough for me to understand. As I'd arrived late in the afternoon and wanted to hit the ground running, Bertilda was nice enough to call me a cab to take me to Parque Illeras (a very nice neighborhood) instead of the Centro, where I was planning to go but where it wasn't quite safe to be alone after dark.
The room itself is large, with a lot of sunlight, a very comfortable bed and really nice decor. There's also a nice balcony right outside to enjoy Medellín's lovely weather. The neighborhood – Barrio Conquistadores – is safe and while it's not super close to a Metro station, it's really not far from downtown and just about a 20 minute walk to there, if you don't mind walking.
All in all, I had a great 2 nights at Bertilda's place and really hope to be back again soon. Bertilda is very kind and sweet and her family was also very welcoming and went out of their way to help when they could. I highly recommend her place for a stay in Medellín.
Bertilde kindly greeted us late in the evening after our flight was delayed, and immediately made us feel at home.
Everything was clean and orderly. The location was perfectly nestled between the bustling downtown area and the highly popular Laureles neighborhood. Bertilde helped as much as she could despite the language barrier, and made sure we knew where to go.
Her place hs everything you need for a lovely visit in Medellin — highly recommended.
This is a wonderful place to stay! Betilda is a lovely host, immediately takes you in as her own, and has good suggestions for where to go and how to get around town. She even waited up until midnight for our flight to arrive! The location is nice, not a far walk from metro line and city center, and very close to Cra 70, where there are a number of restaurants and bars. Pleasant neighborhood (Barrio Conquistadores) located along a small canal that makes for a nice place to run in the morning, and leads to the nearby Centro Deportivo Belen where you can find a small running track and lots of people playing all sorts of sports and exercising. The room is cozy and nicely decorated, very clean and organized. We would recommend Batilda's place to anyone!
We stayed with Bertilda for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. Bertilda gave us a very warm welcome as if we were part of her own family. Our Spanish is quite basic and Bertilda doesn't speak English, but we managed to understand each other. The room with a good bed, airconditioning and tv was spacious and excellent. The bathroom, with a good lukewarm shower was just opposite the room. The door of the bathroom cannot be locked, but the family use their own bathrooms so this was not a problem. We also used the easy to use washing machine. Again Bertilda and her family were very helpful. Bertilda 's house is a 10 minute walk from the metro at Suramericana or Plaza Mayor. A taxi will take you there for less than COP 5,000.
