Experience remoteness in the equatorial alpine - this stunning farm is just an hour and fifteen minutes drive from central Bogota, Colombia.
This is a largely outdoor experience for the mildly rugged, who would like to experience a magnificent landscape in a previously inaccessible terrain. Colombia is the most biodiverse country on earth, and only recently has it become a popular destination for leading edge world travelers. The municipality of Subachoque, Cundinamarca, is known for its safety, serenity and because it is a haven for many well-to-do Colombians, who traditionally (and to this day) seek a country, mountain retreat away (but not too far away) from the smog & bustle of Bogota. Subachoque can be described as a luxurious, verdant and high-altitude farming region of high output.
We provide access to the terrain and a shack for you to spend the night. It is not luxury accommodations by any means, but it is simple shelter from the elements. You must provide your own bedding: we recommend a 20-degree (or warmer) sleeping bag since the night temperatures do commonly drop into the 40-degree Farenheit range.
You must provide your own transportation to the farm, although we may be able to assist in procuring transport. Please note that the elevation is approximately 3100 meters above sea level, so this destination is not recommended for anyone with medical conditions or with any respiratory problems. If you are new to Bogota, please plan on spending at least 2-3 days acclimating to the elevation before going to the farm.
There is a barbeque pit and we do provide firewood. NOTE: There is no kitchen, no internet, no tv, no phone, no bathroom amenities - this accommodation is basically backpacking / camping. Please let me know prior to booking if you have any questions.
Since this is not a traditional house, traditional house rules need not apply. How about: Take only pictures, leave only footprints.....?
Here you can wander barefoot, use your outside voice where ever you happen to be, pluck your ute or banjo at all hours, come and go as you please, leave your dirty socks where ever you damn well please, track dirt all over the shack, start a bonfire with the bow and stick method and then roast a chicken, sleep all day, write a novella, dream with clouds, talk to cows...
